Bunch o’ limited edition collector bottles (& some other stuff) 2015, part 13

Posted by Robin on 24 August 2015 24 Comments

More limited edition collector fragrance bottles, with the usual disclaimers: in most of these cases, the juice is unchanged, just the bottle is “special” (or not, as the case may be), and some of these may not be available in the US. Today's post includes collector editions from Guerlain and Thierry Mugler; plus a new Eau de Toilette version of Chloé.

Guerlain Shalimar Souffle de Parfum limited edition

From Guerlain, a special edition of Shalimar Souffle de Parfum decorated with drawings from the Shalimar Gardens and Taj Mahal. At Guerlain, €98 for 50 ml.

Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire plus stickers

Also from Guerlain, a new edition of La Petite Robe Noire. Includes stickers so you can customize your own bottle. At Guerlain, €92 for 50 ml.

Thierry Mugler Angel Passion Star

From Thierry Mugler, the new refillable Angel Passion Star: "Daring. Sensual. The ultimate in absolute seduction. Don't just give her your heart - give her this fiery bold star and experience passion like no other. A love affair filled with heat and desire is sure to ensue." $120 for 50 ml at Macy's.

Chloé Eau de Toilette

From Chloé, a new Eau de Toilette version of the brand's signature fragrance (not to be confused with the Chloé Eau de Toilette they launched in 2009, which had an ivory ribbon). Notes include bergamot, rose, magnolia, gardenia; it will be in 30, 50 and 75 ml. (via frontiermagazine.co.uk)

That Shalimar bottle is nice! Doubt I’d like the Souffle, though.

I wasn’t impressed with Souffle when I tried it, but the card did waft a nice, sweet, lemon desserty scent from my nightstand a few days after I set it there and forgot about it. Oh, but I want that bottle!

Stickers? Are we 8 years old?

Stickers seem to be the new thing at Guerlain — this is their 4th or 5th bottle with stickers, I think?

I’m glad I didn’t know that until today. Boo Guerlain.

Lol…that was my first though too. Hard to imagine anyone older than 16 being interested in stickers.

There is a fancy purse line that has gone crazy for two years in a row with cartoony leather stickers one can buy to customize the several hundred to several thousand purse. Last year’s collection must have been a success since the purse company has issued a new set of stickers for this year.

As for Guerlain, in years past, they would have engraving events at the fancier department stores where you could get your mirrored lipstick case or perfume bottle engraved with a short name. This was more my style.

I guess there are lot of Tweens (of all ages), who have money for this stuff.

Stickers don’t stay on perfume bottles. Just saying, based on many samples and decants that no longer have labels because the perfume dripped and dissolved the glue.

And Guerlain, you are breaking my heart a little bit. Although with perfume, as with most things, to each their own. Honestly, I would prefer Hello Kitty stickers.

I hope the new Chloe EdT smells nice. I miss some of the older Chloes.

It took me three days to talk myself out of the red Angel bottle. I think Angel is fine, but I don’t love it. I’m just a sucker for red bottles.

I have no intention of ever wearing Angel again, but I have a bottle in a drawer gathering dust. I have to admit I wish it were at least the red bottle! So pretty!

Ha…and I don’t wear Angel at all, and I was momentarily tempted by that bottle. They really ought to do it in lots of colors.

My first thought was, OH THAT’S JUST WRONG, like seeing a Campbell’s soup can in green or orange, but then I thought, no, wait, that’s incredibly beautiful. Mugler sort of did the red thing already with Garden of Stars (watery red-based pastels, though), and with the B*Men bottle (also a vivid red), but yeah, that iconic star should be available in at least a dozen colours. Amethyst next!

The Shalimar Souffle really does not bear much resemblance to the original to me ..a very safe office friendly non daring blah scent .Stickers …oh dear.

Agree. Wish they’d put “just” Shalimar in that bottle. On the other hand, I’m not really going to buy it no matter what they put in it, so just rubber necking here.

My thoughts exactly, I would prefer the original Shalimar because I think this bottle is lovely and I wouldn’t buy it because I already have enough Shalimar for the rest of my life. Ogling is fun, though ????

My supply of Shalimar is actually dwindled to maybe a couple mls, so I have been contemplating a new bottle, and i would by that one in a second if it had real Shalimar in it…don’t know about Souffle in a bottle though…I am just imagining spraying myself with it and ending up with sticky sugar eggs…..LOL.

Wow, that Shalimar Souffle de Parfum is bottle porn. I also wouldn’t mind getting an empty atomizer of the red Angel and fill it with something else.

“Not to be confused with the Chloe Eau de Toilette they launched in 2009…” And yet…I am confused.

They made an EdT version of the original EdP. Then they stopped making it, then they came out with a new, improved (perhaps!) EdT version.
