Happy International Picnic Day!* What fragrance are you wearing to celebrate?
I'm wearing Aedes de Venustas Copal Azur.
Reminder: tomorrow, 6/19, wear a fragrance from perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2015, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image shows items from the Craig Green AW15 collection at Comme des Garçons.
*It's also International Sushi Day, and International Panic Day. Plus, in the US, National Splurge Day.

SOTD: Lexington Ave (Bond no. 9) 🙂
A perfect place for a picnic, ha!
You smell good! My favorite Bond.
Splurge, Picnic, Sushi, Panic – it all goes well together.
Today I finished my sample of Keiko Mecheri Tarifa. It is a nice citrus scent – a bit soapy, a bit spicy. Good for a hot day.
Splurge on a sushi picnic, then panic when you see the bill?
Or panic when you are looking for le toilet?! 😉
Yeah, I went straight to food poisoning. . .
I was thnking about the bill or extra pounds/kilograms.
Because I haven’t worn a single Duchaufour this week I’m compensating by dedicating today and tomorrow to his work. Today’s perfume is Chypre Palatin (MDCI) One of my favourites from this line, and one of my favourite Duchaufours.
Nice!
I checked and was stunned and amazed to find I had no BD scents. Zip. Zero. Zilch.
So I’m back in the saddle with CSP Amour de Cacao. 🙂
I love your dedication to this scent.
Scent monogomy is a new experience for me 😉
That scent is never the wrong choice. It’s the correct answer to most of life’s questions.
Amen!
Hear, hear
In fact – that’s exactly what I feel like wearing right now!
Merlin, we smell fab!
Unfortunately I was already wearing Jolie Madame – which is beautiful but too chilly in today’s weather.
I find lots of cocoa scents too sweet – but this one has a malty overtone which I really enjoy 🙂
I must try this one! I have a recent, new-found hankering for cocoa/chocolate notes. Is it very sweet?
Its sweet, but not sickly, cupcakey sweet. I can wear very comfortably in 90+ degree weather with high humidity to boot. I think that’s one of the reasons I like it so much- it seems quite light and transparent, definitely “chocolatey” but without feeling like you smeared fudge cake all over yourself.
I initially learned about here on NST and it’s one of my most successful blind buys 🙂
I’m seeing it mentioned all over the place lately
I’ll definitely seek it out.
Reading quickly I thought you said “…in 90+ degree weather with high-heeled boots” 🙂 Although I’m sure it works for that, too!
More Virgilio today, but as the storm rolled in tonight I switched to Shalimar Ode…..Mexico.
For a split second, imagined them layered and thought, NO.
Continuing with my Duchafour week in NV Pichola. So pretty – I wish I had more than a sample.
SOTD: YSL Opium pour Homme (eau de toilette)
SOTD: Youth Dew Bath Oil.
mmmmmmmmmmm!
Because I own not a single Duchafour I am in Veritas Inlustrat Perfumes Violet…..starts off sweet and candied but very quickly segues into grassy, dewy earth (guessing there is violet leaf and vetiver in this one)….perfect for a picnic! Actually, it develops in the opposite way of my favourite violet, Fiele Perfumes Viola which starts off heavy on the violet leaf but dries down sweet and subtle on my skin.
No 19 Poudre
Inspired by my shower gel (Pink Grapefruit from The Body Shop), I’m in Guerlain AA Pamplelune today, and feeling very cheerful.
Incidentally – yesterday I went by the pharmacy for something else and wound up at the fragrance counter (HOW could that have happened???) sniffing possibilities for something to give The CEO for Father’s Day. The second thing I tried was Halston Z-14, and it made my eyes roll back in my head – so I bought it (50% off sale!). I’m not sure how I made it this long without smelling this classic, and I could postulate that it used to be even better, of course, but it’s wonderful. The trick will be not pressing it on my husband before Sunday. Anybody else a fan?
Hmm. Never tried it. But now that it’s had such an enthusiastic review I might have to keep an eye out! 🙂
Me, too!
Yep, I’m a fan too!
My high school boyfriend wore this. Just thinking about it can almost induce butterflies in my stomach! That young love…ahhh. 😉
Love that! There’s something in many “blue” scents that remind me of my first boyfriend’s scent (Perry Ellis, maybe?) and a whiff of it passing by on a fella can make me weak at the knees for a moment!
SSS Tabac Aurea smells like *my* high school boyfriend, so I totally get that WHOA emotional effect.
Z-14 are memories of high school boys. My sister wore it b/c one of her boyfriends wore it. I haven’t smelled it in a long time, but I am sure that it is still great.
I love the opening of this – mainly the cinnamon – but it does go a bit too dry and mossy on me :/
Séville à l’Aube. I was surprised to discover I have several Duchafors! I will probably wear Copal Azure tomorrow. Or Mohur…I almost wore it today, but I just couldn’t resist Mt favorange blossom…
Stupid speller( either the phone or me!) . My favorite orange blossom…
I think I prefer Mt favorange blossom!
Lol! Another secret code perfume name…
Fat fingers (like mine)?
Scent twins today!
Scent triplets!
Hermes Bel Ami Vetiver. The arresting bitterness in the original has been mostly replaced by brightness, and it goes kind of flat later on, but it’s still better than most things out there.
No scent today, but I ordered Neela Vermeire’s 4x8ml set yesterday, so I’m staying with the theme of the week, at least in spirit. I wanted to wear Trayee tomorrow, but realized too late that I have drained all my Vermeire samples and it’s time to up my game.
It’s a nuisance isn’t it, when you start falling for the expensive ones 😉
Ah – I’ve been thinking about ordering that for far too long. Enjoy!
SOTD is Sel de Vetiver to cut through horribly humid, muggy weather we’re having.
A bit hot and humid. Going with Mure et Musc this morning.
Mure et Musc is a love. I have half a sample left which I’m using sparingly to make it last.
I’m finally wearing one by Bertrand Duchaufour, Dzongkha.
Love Dzongkha…
I meant to use the last of my CDG: Cinnamon sample, but accidentally grabbed Histoires de Parfums Rosam which reminds me a lot of Le Labo Patchouli 24 but with a different medicinal edge on application. After a few hours, I smell like spicy bandages.
SOTD is Volnay Brume d’Hiver. Loving this so much that I may have to go back for another spray or six.
The Volnays don’t get a lot of time on this blog, but I fell for them hard! I put Etoile d’Or at the top of my wish list!
I wish I had tried them all when we were at Jovoy in Paris but there were so many wonderful things I just couldn’t smell them all!!! But yes, now I want to smell them all!
Happy “Friday Eve” everyone. One more day before the weekend starts!
My SOTD is Red Roses by Jo Malone. Just felt like taking some time to “smell the roses” today. This particular fragrance is perfect for that!
My daughter’s 18th birthday was yesterday and she surprised me with a rose “decal” tattoo on her buttocks! She had me for just a second…and then we had a good laugh! 🙂
Cheeky!!
:-)!!
Good one!
Too funny! Not sure if you watch television or not. There is this great commercial for iced tea. Have you seen it? There is a young lady sitting outside w/ her grandma drinking iced tea. She confesses to her grandma that it isn’t homemade. Her grandma tells her she likes it and it tastes just like her homemade tea. Then the grandma tells her granddaughter that she has a confession……..she has a tattoo! The look on the young lady’s face is classic! Sooooo funny!
Need to find that on YouTube!
I did my version of a “cheap thrill” and bought the $25 small bath oil of Red Roses. It’s so cute and tiny! I’m enjoying it as a nose appetizer after shower. Just a drop to get a dash on the body, the aroma of roses in the steam. And then a little later I layer it with something else. Very cheerful rose. It layers well with Guerlain Vetiver.
It truly does smell like you are in a bed of roses. JM has the best bath oils. And truthfully, I find that you can always find something that layers well with a JM fragrance!
May need to try that combo!
Does the bath oil smell at all different to the scent? Does it layer better if used as a perfume oil?
I have used several of the bath oils as perfume as they sit closer to the skin…the ones I have tried are all replicas of the EDT (Basil, Mandarin and Lime, Pom Noire, Orange Blossom, Grapefruit, Red Roses) as far as my nose can tell.
I’m saving my Duchaufour scent for tomorrow, because the only one I have is a sample of one of the scents he did for L’Artisan. Anyway, today I’m trying Oolong Infini for the first time. This is one of the Atelier Cologne samples that I got last year. So far I’ve only tried Orange Sanguine and Mandarine Glaciale. I liked both of them very well. I like this one too, but I think I really need to spray, rather than to dab from a sample.
Yes, spray samples I think would be better for that brand, but their sample sets are really hard to beat for the price. I love Oolong Infini, but it fades really fast on me so it’s become a nighttime scent for me. I wear it for a few hours before bed and by morning I’m ready to put on something else.
Yes, it has definitely faded. I do have Rose Anonyme, which lasts for me a good deal longer than the others I have tried in this line. Usually I have great luck with colognes. My skin seems to really hold on to them. I use some less expensive brands, such as the 4711 Acqua Colonias, and the Demeter colognes and have no trouble with the scent fading on me.
Sampling Smellbent Gardenia Oud today which is nowhere near as heavy as I was expecting. I am slightly disappointed since I was hoping for a no way suitable for work powerhouse since I’m off today
Washed it off and am now in Army of Lovers from LM Parfums. Much better– this seems to be a big rose with some musky honey skank.
Wearing Fiore d’Ulivo (Xerjoff Cassamorati) today. It’s started off springy and floral but I’m getting the amber and musk now, which is fitting for the mood today. Me = wearing all black and pearls; weather = drizzling.
Hi all!
Today is my birthday so “splurge” and “panic” fit the bill. I just got back from Vancouver where a lovely sample package from a Canadian nst brother was waiting at my mom’s house. I went thru it with my sister in law and turns out she is crazy for Atelier Silver Iris so I left that sample with her in Van. That woman has good taste. Thanks again, Canadian bro!
I was sick with flu the whole time I was in Vancouver and had planned on visiting the Perfume Shoppe, but I couldn’t smell a damn thing. When I got home to Boston, my sinuses had cleared somewhat and I put on Brit Rhythm which smelled heavenly.
Happy Birthday, Sajini!
Happy Birthday!
Hope it is a lovely day!!
Happy Birthday! Sorry about the flu, though 🙁
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday and glad you are starting to feel better! I think I’ll wear Brit Rhythm today – it’s been a while and I always enjoy it.
It’s really a nice one. I also has SL Gris Clair which is gorgeous, but Rhythm is a softer, woodier lavender on me and perfect for a sensitive post illness nose.
Happy Birthday! Glad you enjoyed your time in Vancouver. Next time I get there, I plan to go to the Perfume Shoppe – somehow I didn’t realize it was there until recently. And, thanks for the perfume suggestion for today. We are about to be scent twins 🙂
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday
Adding my birthday wishes!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday! Sounds like you are doin’ it right!
Happy Birthday and feel better, Sajini!
Happy Birthday, Sajini!
Happy Birthday! !
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday!Hope your day was awesome!!
Happy birthday! Hope you feel better!
Happy Birthday! Get well soon!
Happy Birthday! Wishing you a happy and healthy year ahead. I have a roll-on of the Rhythm and like it, too.
Happy Birthday to you! Hope you are enjoying your special day!
Happy Birthday!
Another birthday wish – for if you make it all the way to the bottom 🙂 Hope its been a wonderful day, even if you are still in recovery!
Feliz Cumpleaños!!
Another lavender that I really like and totally forgot about until happy888cat reminded me of it, is Kiki by Vero Profumo…
Hope you feel better soon.
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday! I’m glad you and your sister enjoyed the samples I sent. I know I had a lot of fun trying out the stuff you sent me. Reverie au Jardin has really grown on me but I’m afraid to check what the price is these days with the weak CAD.
I just sprayed some on the crook of my arm. Can’t stop huffing it.
I could do two weeks of Bertrand Duchaufour fragrances, but I haven’t worn one yet this week, so I thought I’d remedy that today by wearing a sample I’ve had for a while but never tested. So today’s it’s Piment Brulant. Ummm, I get almost exclusively the bell pepper note with something odd and fatty that reminds me of…. mayonnaise? Egg salad? After two hours, it’s either a little better or I’ve just resigned myself to my fate. This one’s clearly not for me. Pretty sure I’ll be changing fragrances later on.
Well, that sounds horrid. Hope it improves or comes off easily!
Oh my! So sorry to hear that!
SOTD is Timbuktu. Good for a muggy day.
Taking advantage of all the cooler weather and wearing SSS Tabac Aurea with a dab of SSS Champagne de Bois. The SSS’s layer so nicely!
Champagne de Bois is just gorgeous. So is Tabac Aurea, but CdB has that crazy depth to it!
I’m always hesitant to wear it because it’s so darned potent and rich! Which is why I just dabbed lightly over the other. I can’t imagine full sprays of this stuff. It is beautiful, though.
I’m wearing Truth or Dare Naked. I got a bottle unsniffed in a swap a few months back, and gosh darn it …. I quite like it.
National Splurge Day? Darn, I should have waited until today to spring for that bottle of Kashan Rose. SOTD is Gucci’s EDP from 2002 – after comparing KR to it yesterday, I wanted to do a back-to-back comparison. Yep, I still see similarities – I might continue to love the Gucci just a little more, but the KR is very, very nice and I predict it will get plenty of attention.
Can’t quite decide what Duchaufour to wear tomorrow – I’m currently leaning toward Paestum Rose, but I also have the Ann Gerard sample set and Ciel d’Opale just might reach out and grab me by the lapels in the morning. We’ll see!
I’m sampling Apoteker Tepe Anabasis this morning. Don’t think it’ll last long but it’s beautiful.
Was awakened just after midnight to a kitten screaming her head off. The super-shy one had wedged her head behind the armoire and gotten stuck. I blundered out of bed in a sleepy mom-response panic and stepped on the second shyest kitten just before I knocked my water glass on top of her. Needless to say it took a while to calm everyone down, especially myself, so I sampled another AT scent, The Paradam. OMG, the most gorgeous jasmine and sandalwood I’ve ever experienced. I’m not usually a jasmine fan and the fragrance isn’t very long lasting (dabbed, will spray next time) but it was divine!
oh, intrigued by The Paradam…jasmine, sandalwood and oakmoss too, according to Twisted Lily.
It was short lived but lovely. I’m going to spray some this afternoon to see how it lasts. TPC has a 1.5ml spray sampler for less than the Apoteker Tepe website and they have a 20% off Father’s Day promo right now.
Ouch, but I got a good chuckle out of your story!
I read Steve’s review of Paradam (The Scented Hound) so I’m glad to see you mention it. I’m looking forward to trying it.
In Jasmine White Moss. Starting to select my travel perfumes for my three-week trip to the UK, and JWM is already in a travalo.
Someone mentioned this EL fragrance the other day. I got a sample a long time ago and remembered I really liked it. Not sure why I never purchased it. It can’t be purchased on the EL webpage anymore, but I found out they have it at Nordstroms. I say all of this to say………you smell fantastic! I can’t wait to get a bottle!
Today is also the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo.
SOTD: SSS Champagne de Bois
Totally unrelated question: I have a cousin whose married name is Rapelje; would that be related to your user name?
It very well could be. The Rappleyeas are French (name was preceded by a “de” at one time), who fled France in the early 1600’s. Many, many spellings have evolved over the years.
Hey Rapp – you smell great! BTW – I found a dead ringer for Bois d’Armenie: I got a small 4 ml decant of the Smell Bent Disco Nap. Almost completely identical. A little cuddlier. Very nice.
Interesting! And I’m laughing about the timing!
Wearing Fendi for women. It’s not playing nice with the humidity, but it just arrived last night and I couldn’t wait to play with it.
SOTD: Fico di Amalfi. Bought a vat of this last summer during the hot and muggy part of the summer. Thought it was time for a reminder of why I liked it. I am enjoying its sheer, fresh citrus with the undertone of creamy fig.
Have you by chance tried their Mandorlo di Sicilia?
I had to go to a funeral service today and coincidentally had received a free sample of Lili yesterday. It smelled appropriate–not overwhelming and lilyish. It’s nearly gone 2 hours later. As for M. Duchaufour, I was surprised to see I have quite a few samples of his extensive range and tomorrow will likely choose Dzongkha, which I haven’t worn in a long time.
Felt like something with oomph this morning, went with Nicolai’s Amber Oud. I haven’t worn it in a while and am really enjoying the lavender, mmmmmm.
Just put on some Origins Ginger Essence for some energy. I do love the ginger, but there is a good amount of citronella that I don’t really care for. Will try to get through it.
I actually like citronella. Maybe I should try this.
Wearing Balenciaga Paris. It feels very efficient.
Love the descriptor!
Orange Sanguine this morning seemed cheerful and energetic. It’s faded now, and I may have to pull out an EBP (emergency back-up perfume) to boost me through the rest of the day. I think I have an Anne Pliska sample tucked in my bag… Be well!
I’m wearing Cacharel Noa, layered over regular Dove body lotion. Very pleasant and inoffensive. “Oh, you smell nice!” exclaimed the husband. Grr… he never notices or comments if I wear something more interesting – except perhaps Fils de Dieu. If I only perfumed myself to please my man*, I could shop exclusively at the drugstore and save myself a whole lot of cash 🙂
*luckily I don’t
Quite recently I started using ordinary Dove soap. Its really cold here now and I’m often too lazy for lotions and oils and stuff. A bonus is that I do really like the Dove scent!
I like the Dove scent, too – it always smells comforting and nostalgic to me, even though I’m sure it didn’t feature in my childhood at all.
Noa is a fabulous skin scent….although I went through approximately five full bottles ( a great work scent) I could never quite smell it on myself….however, I received an abundance of compliments whenever I wore it…in fact a co-worker (who only wore Ann Klein and then lamented its discontinuation) loved it so much I bought her a bottle for her birthday and it quickly became her new signature scent.
and Dove soap smells fabulous too…especially on a freshly showered man!
SOTD is testing Amouage Sunshine next to YSL Cinema. They are remarkably similar in how they start, though Cinema is brighter on the fruit and Sunshine is a little nutty (the almond). Just put them on. Will see how they dry down. My Sunshine was supposed to arrive in the mail today, but I missed the mail carrier and now I have to try to get to the post office. I am having a little buyer’s remorse, so if I find it too similar to Cinema, which I think I like a little better, I might return it.
This is perfumista torture!
I hope it ends well, Sapphire!
Probably will wind up with both. They are just different enough. 😉
I find Cinema frustratingly quiet – but I like the scent very much. Needs a volume switch!
I started with some after bath Chanel No 5 bath oil and then some Eau Premiere this morning. But it’s so chilly! After lunch I gave myself a generous spray of Pacifica Spanish Ambre. SA is such a great dry amber. I love the very austere use of incense too. It is a great fragrance.
Chilly? Maybe Alahine weather, if you’re on an amber roll…
Definitely Alahine weather. If I’d had my wits about me this morning – my mind was as foggy as the air – I’d have picked Alahine. So gorgeous!
Thanks to the generosity of a lovely NST resident(THANK YOU Merete!!),my SOTD is Phi Une Rose de Kandahar. When I unwrapped the package last week,I was mesmerized by the smell emanating from it,and thought “if this is the Phi,it must be love!”.It is more than love. It’s filled with joy and exhuberance and it is LOOOOOOOVE!!Lol.I’m currently fixated on interesting Rose perfumes, and this one is right up there. So gorgeous, and the final drydown in it’s sweet muskiness might rival Iris Poudre as my favorite drydown ever.Kudos to Andy Tauer for making me smile and laugh on an otherwise dreadful winters’ day.
PHI is one of my Top Five! I discovered it accidentally on purpose when I was trying get out of my “I hate rose!” phase and was really testing any “Rose” fragrance I could get my paws on.
The result? I still hate most rose-centric perfumes but fell in love with PHI in a big way. Probably because it’s a totally atypical rose fragrance. Big, Big PHI Lover here ❤️❤️❤️
Yes,I became an instant Phi fan as well!I do love the big spicy rose perfumes like Portrait of a Lady as well, but this is-like you said-a surprisingly fantastic atypical rose.Simply gorgeous.
I’m wearing Diptyque L’Ombre dans L’Eau today, from a small decant I forgot I had until I found it this mornig. It’s one I really like for summer, and I think I should probably buy it at some point. CDG Kyoto is the only Duchaufour I actually own (so far), so I imagine that’s what I’ll be wearing tomorrow.
I’m wearing Guerlain Shalimar EDP. I’m having some family turmoil right now, and this is one of my comfort scents.
Ugh. Sorry! (About the turmoil, not the fragrance!)
Sometimes things get better faster than you think.
Hang in there.
Thank you
SOTD for Throwback Thursday is Coty’s classic (1927) L’Aimant, a beautiful aldehydic floral. Soft, gentle, refined and ladylike, it hearkens back to a long-ago era, when ‘picnics’ were elegant (and without ‘sushi’) and one could splurge’ a little to afford this fragrance but not ‘panic’ at its cost. An old magazine ad I have for Coty’s classics called L’Aimant, “the most beautiful bouquet of mystery and roses ever created.”
I love the marketers’ translation of L’Aimant to The Magnet!
I love the way this smells, but my skin eats it. Always has – L’Aimant was the first bottle of “real perfume” I ever purchased….I put it on and poof, it’s gone gone gone in twenty minutes….
Beautifully put “one could splurge a little to afford this fragrance but not panic at the cost”……sometimes I smell a high end niche and I could swear it smells exactly like an old drugstore favourite (of course repackaged at five times the price!!!!)
L’Aimant is really pretty.
For some reason I can’t figure out, the waft from it smells very different than the smell close to the skin. Up close, it’s definitely roses and aldehydes and… woods maybe? hard to define. Floating in the air, though, it smells like my mom’s hot peach pie – doughy, fruity, but not too sweet.
(I have some parfum de toilette which seems to be 70s – maybe late 60s – and it’s possible, of course, that it’s just aged strangely.)
As a reaction against the act of domestic terrorism last night, I needed comfort, comfort, comfort. I want sweetness, flowers and an olfactory reminder of kindness and goodness in the world. I showered with both Lush Rose Jam and Oscar Blandi Jasmine shampoo+conditioner, then used spritzes of Joy and Jo Malone Red Roses.
The smell is sweet, in a floral way, and feels like a hug.
Terribly sorry to hear that. Sounds like a wonderfully comforting set of smells.
Don’t mean to put my foot in it, but are you referring to South Carolina?
If so, I totally share your pain. I thought nothing could damper Warrior fever here… but the events in Charleston are breaking everyone’s hearts.
I was thinking the same thing. It is truly heartbreaking …
I was refering to South Carolina! Could not believe it! Beautiful city, and some of the most dear people of every hue!
*hugs*
Sira des Indes. I almost didn’t even try this because I shouldn’t like it by the notes. Indeed I don’t care for the extra-ripe banana top nor the froot flavors heart, but this particularly milky sweet drydown worked beautifully for me today against all odds. This sample may last me the rest of my life, but I’m glad I stepped outside my wheelhouse today.
I was *just* reading about this one as some people on Fragrantica compared Penhaligon’s Amaranthine to the Patou. I’m curious to try it now (even though I’m picturing a bowl of fruit loops with slices of pre-rotten banana all floating in whole milk. I’m gagging writing this).
Remind me to bring some of my SdI sample the next time you and I go to the same event! Now I’m trying to remember what I thought of Amaranthine, or if I’ve got that one mixed up with another Penahligon’s name that sounds sort of similar…. Just checked the Amaranthine notes and I think I’d remember what I though of that one, so I don’t think I’ve tried it. Thanks to you maybe I can get Duchaufour-adjacent credit for wearing one that people compare to one of his. :p
Credit given. I’m a pushover; -)
I sprayed on the new REM EDP this evening and it’s not as aquatic as the EDT – in fact they smell quite different. This one is sweeter with just a touch of sea. I need to wear it a few more times but I like it. It’s an odd mix though.
Sicily Dolce & Gabbana on one arm, Vent Vert Pierre Balmain on the other.
I think Sicily is the best D and G. I never see it anymore.
It is unique, that may have contributed to it being discontinued.
the original D & G from the 1990s with the red cap and red velvet box was also beautiful and is sadly discontinued (or rather replaced by a “newer” version which smells NOTHING like the original)
Posting late today, I went hiking this morning. After a shower, I’m wearing Sarrasins.
I think Sarrasins is my favourite Lutens. So odd, yet so wearable.
Now I’ve switched to Eau de Caron. Yet another odd vintage duck! Not as distant vintage as the others I was prattling on about over the last couple of weeks. Lemon leather, and if lemon leather weren’t unusual enough, a very fire-at-the-chemical-plant kind of leather it is. Over a gorgeous animalic floral base. I am confused.
Caron did edgy before there was a name for edgy?
Probably something in the lemony leather accord is breaking down a little bit and you are getting L’aire de Decay du Eau de Caron! (pardon the butchering of the perfumery French language!)
Parfum de Sacree has a bit of the same thing. Mostly its gorgeous, every once in a while I get a whiff of something that doesn’t belong to the rest of it….
I get a public swimming pool water note in Parfum de Sacre which is very notable in the opening. Or it can be celery?
I was curious about that one…..does it come with an art deco design on the bottle similar to the original Nocturnes de Caron? Vintage Nocturnes is one of my top ten fragrances of all time (but not the reformulation)….at first I though Eau de Caron was a spinoff of Nocturnes but apparently from your description of the notes it is not.
I wore Gigi perfume oil by Olivine today. Very office appropriate.
