Paco Rabanne Olympea ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 2 April 2015 13 Comments

Paco Rabanne Olympéa

Paco Rabanne will launch Olympéa, a new fragrance for the 'modern day Cleopatra'. Olympea is the feminine counterpart to the brand's Invictus, and will be fronted by model Luma Grothe.

Olympéa was developed by perfumers Loc Dong and Anne Flipo. The notes include aquatic accord, jasmine, vanilla, sandalwood and ambergris.

Paco Rabanne Olympéa will debut this fall; I will update with sizes when I can.

Update: Perfumer Dominique Ropion also worked on the team that developed Olympéa.

Another update: Olympéa will be available in 30, 50 and 80 ml Eau de Parfum.

And even more: Olympéa is described as a "twist on a traditional oriental" with an "olfactive backbone" of salty vanilla. Additional notes include mandarin and ginger lily. It will also be sold in a 30 ml Extrait de Parfum. (via wwd)

Everything pointing to pass this one, for me. Don’t like the name either.

Paco Rabanne has yet to make the (modern) scent I would buy, so I’m not all that excited either.

That bottle is so so reminiscent of the original Cartier Panthére bottle.

I tried Invictus and it was rubbish. I have no faith that mass-market scents will be any good any more.

Hey, and this isn’t even mass market! It’s a prestige scent.

Now I am intrigued by the concept of a modern-day Cleopatra. What would that even be in this day and age, anyway? Claire Underwood, that’s who. But she’d wear Chanel No. 19 or VCA First rather than this olfactory claptrap.

Hey, Claire Underwood is perfect. Didn’t we get a look at her dressing table in season 2? Can’t remember any perfume, but would think for sure she would wear it. And a signature scent, she would not switch around.

Some say there’s a Tocca bottle there, but she spritzes herself from a plain small round bottle with a golden cap, IIRC.

Even though it looks Suspiciously like the Original Panthere De Cartier Bottle… This bottle is ORGASMICALLY Gorgeous! And the scent… will have to sniff for sure… but since it’s a woman’s fragrance probably won’t be buying because my Mom whom I buy for simply prefers Older Vintage fragrances to the new stuff… I on the other hand LOVED 1 Million for Men and have yet to smell Invictus but want to!

The Invictus commercial is one of the worst I’ve ever seen.

But it’s typically Paco tongue in cheek…………….not meant to be taken seriuosly and perfect for the market. Hence it is the no. 3 men’s best seller!

Let’s not knock this fragrance until we try it! There’s no brownie points for fragrance snobbery – emperors new clothes and all of that!!

I liked this and Bvlgari’s Goldea a lot. Have to smell them again, of course, but it was a great first impression.
