With apologies, it's Monday yet again! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm wearing Marni Rose.
Reminder: this Friday, 1/16, wear a fragrance from Prada or perfumer Daniela Andrier.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2015, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image shows Marni Pink Windowpane Print Scarf, sold out, via Lyst.
Benjoin 19, and I cannot say enough how much I love this.
How nice!
I’m wearing Caron Eau de Reglisse, which I’m finding to be a deliciously lemony licorice fougere.
I don’t own any Prada fragrances and the only Andrier I’ve got is Marni — so I guess that’s what I’ll go for on Friday!
I wish anise would be the Next Big Thing.
I’d like that too!
And so would I. Though I suppose it’s not that easy to make a great fragrance with it.
WORD! I LOVE anise/licorice scents, the more the better. Licorice/Oud, anyone? Yeah, I just went there… 😉
Slumberhouse Vikt extrait puts those notes together in a compelling way.
Do you know Etro’s Anise? Love it! And I think it would be a great mixer too!
Anice is gorgeous, my favourite summer Aniseed fragrance.
me too! 😀
Ah, sadly I can’t do anise. I just swapped for a bottle of Havana Vanille/Vanille Absolument and I’m going to have to swap it away because I get a heavy anise/black licorice vibe from it, and strangely no booze!
was checking out lip balms on Vitacost, and the brand Zum Zumbo carries an anise one!
Good to know! As it happens I just ordered another anise toothpaste there, to replace the Boiron anise one that I can’t seem to find anymore.
OH MY GOD you have to try Amarelli Licorice toothpaste by Marvis. A touch of mint, a ton of licorice, SO SO GOOD. They also have jasmine, cinnamon, ginger, and a few other things. If they did rose that’s all I’d ever use.
Thank you — will investigate if I don’t like the one I ordered! I really liked the Boiron & wish I could find it again.
Marni for me too!
Nearly twins 🙂
LOVE Eau de Reglisse! It’s one of my summer staples- so much that i even bought TWO back-up bottles… I think 300ml should do me 😉
Same here on Prada fragrances, and the only Andrier I own is the Gucci EDP from 2002. It’s my most-complimented fragrance, so I won’t mind at all wearing it on Friday. 🙂
Le Labo Vanille 44. And with that, I have drained my sample. It happened much faster than I expected.
I would so like to have a bottle of that!
For some reason, I thought you went in on a split!
I did. But the host is still waiting for it to fill up. I check in with her periodically. I can be patient. 🙂
A ha! I had to wait a while for Gaiac 10 but it was absolutely worth the wait.
Sampling Oriza L. Legrand Heliotrope Blanc. It’s pretty much baby powder on me.
Thanks — that probably takes care of it for me!
Foxbins, have you tried Cuir Beluga?
Hi, Hajusuuri! No, I’ve been hesitant to try Cuir Beluga–immortelle is one of the notes I avoid, and combined with the heliotrope I was afraid it would smell like syrupy fluffy powder. What is your experience with it?
Haha, it is syrupy fluffy powder and that’s why I like it.
I’m trying to work my way through a bag of Caron samples that I’ve had for YEARS and blindly tried Montaigne today, of unknown vintage. My first thought was that it smells like a subdued late-eighties thing, and I was shocked when Fragrantica said it was launched in 2007 — good job at recreating an era, I thought, and very brave to do such an eighties scent so recently. But as it turns out, it was actually first launched in 1986, which explains everything. It’s really good, orangey aldehydes then jasmine and mimosa over an oriental base, surprisingly un-heavy considering its provenance, nothing I’d own but very nice.
I can’t remember it, sadly — was it one of the urn scents? Wish somebody would buy Caron already and restore the brand.
Pretty sure it isn’t one of the urn scents, but it was originally launched as a boutique exclusive, so maybe it never really made it into wider circulation.
Those urns bother me. I was in Fortnum & Mason in London a few years back and when I saw that massive, awe-inspiring display of crystal urns, all I could think was, those perfumes are being exposed to light twelve hours a day, year-round. That can’t possibly be good for them.
True enough! But it was nice that you could buy the bottle and size you wanted and have it filled.
Yeah, that’s a genius idea, and I’d like to see more of it. I would be more comfortable with something like those Mugler refilling stations, though — those containers are opaque so they protect the contents better, and they’re not gorgeously baroque like the urns but still attractive and very futuristic looking.
I don’t know why TM hasn’t adopted the same methods instead of just using them as refill stations, though, where you pick your bottle first then they fill it. I bet they’d sell more LE bottles that way.
Not sure what I’ll do on Friday – the only Prada scent I have is Infusion d’Iris. (Which my daughter finds it amusing to call “Infection of Iris.” And she *likes* it. In fact, it’s one of the four fragrances she deigns to actually wear on occasion.) Anyway, I don’t think I’ll enjoy it in this weather. I’d wear Candy, but I don’t have any of that; I keep checking eBay for a mini but haven’t located one at a reasonable price yet.
Today? Le Galion Tubereuse, to continue my BWF January.
Hey, you can always skip a Friday!
Well, I really like the challenges – thanks for providing them! – and reading how people meet them in such various ways. But might have to sit this one out, yeah.
Wear a fragrance that you think would fit the Prada aesthetic, how’s that?
Infection of Iris is hysterical.
She had misread the handwritten label on her decant… but it made us laugh so hard that we kept calling it that.
SOTD is Slumberhouse Pear & Olive. I like it in any season, but it seems especially nice today and we’re having really cold weather right now.
I’m wearing L’Artisan Skin on Skin. Not a lot of people seemed to like this series, but I think this one is sort of fun and easy to wear. Probably not quite fun enough to buy a bottle when my decant runs out, though.
Actually I am quite happy to have a perfectly ordinary Monday today. The new year kickstarted in several ways, but today I am free, going through the priorities at my to-do-list and de-Christmasing the house.
A friend spent Christmas in London and brought me 3 Atkinsons samples for a New Year’s gift. Today I am wearing Oud Save The Queen. It is a funny beast (and a terrible pun), starting off as a mix of burnt rubber and burnt suger with a blast of oud, slightly sour. Eventually it settles into a quite beautiful incense.
Good morning, everybody! I started giving Serge Lutens samples a test drive over the weekend! I decided to start with florals. A La Nuit was very pretty, but I don’t think I need that much jasmine all at once. Datura Noir was fun in a trashy, tropical sort of way.
Fleurs d’Oranger is the first one that seems like a total winner for me! I was afraid of the cumin, but it turns out that I didn’t need to be. Fleurs d’Oranger is a major mood lifter – I can’t help but smile when I smell it. 🙂 It’s a nice antidote for an icy, rainy Monday.
Fleurs d’Oranger is probably my favorite Serge, and the first niche full bottle I ever bought. I also wear it a lot in the summer – and not even sparingly!
FWIW, you can get it at Fragrancenet for under $70. >: )
I have been toying the idea of getting FdO for ages, but it would be a blind buy so hesitating is still going on… It has gotten lovers/haters, but not a lot in between, it seems.
Awesome enabling job! ;D The 25% off sale code they have sure is tempting. I will probably scurry on over to Fragrancenet before too long. My resolve in the face of pretty perfumes is weak, and I have nothing like FdO in my collection.
My struggle with Mr Lutens’ creations is well documented on this site! The only ones I really love are Gris Clair and Encens et Lavande. I like Borneo too. There is just a note that he likes that reads as sweat on my skin and not nice, healthy sweat.
And to sweeten the pot – I always put FdO on my “I can make decants” list for the swapmeet and get tons of takers (and thus, tons of great new stuff in return).
I’m really bad today! #sorrynotsorry
Battling with myself … must not buy more SL right now … I recently tried Un Bois Vanille (delicious but not too sweet), Femininite du Bois (plum and woods is so perfect now), and Clair du Musc (so pretty and I can’t place it – definitely feels clear) and I want them all!!
Thanks for the heads-up! After saying I’d already blown my perfume budget (at least for the first half of the year) on a bottle of Iris Poudre, I actually found myself eyeing the Serges on Fnet…
Do you have a sample of Fleurs de Citronnier? There are similarities but I prefer it.
What do you prefer about Fleurs de Citronnier? I couldn’t justify splurging on ALL of them, so FdC is one that didn’t make the cut this time around.
Hmm, let me see if I can remember. FdC is less skanky. The neroli is slightly soapy, pulling the scent closer to your skin. I think there is a nice amber note in it as well. As we say around here “your mileage may vary”. And what I’m saying, too, is sample FdC before you buy a FB of FdO 🙂
Right. You should sample.
That said, I know that the newer bottles of Fd’O are reportedly de-cuminized, and the sample I received a couple of years ago was downright friendly with no skank at all.
(Also? FdC was really awful on me. It went Lemon Pledge/toilet cleanser/laundry musk, and I don’t want it on my skin ever again. As Suzy Q says, YMMV.)
Have you had a chance to try the roses yet? Sa Majesté la Rose is big and showoffy in the best way, and La Fille de Berlin is gorgeously spicy and fresh: I’m not as big a fan of Rose de Nuit but lots of people love it. Serge really knows what to do with a rose.
No, I have not! Weirdly enough. I have Santal Majuscule in the queue, and I know that has a touch of rose, but I did not snag any samples of the rose-centric perfumes. I LOVE rose but I’m trying to branch out!
Hummm, Santal Majuscule is gorgeous. Now i’m craving it!
I too have recently acquired some Serge Lutens samples, but not any florals! Today I’m in Fille en Aiguilles, and am enjoying the pine and incense. It smells just like Christmas eve with my husband’s family- tree and garland and midnight mass. That said, I can’t see myself going beyond a sample with this one.
Lucky! I was wearing that this morning just to test it again, but the cumin definitely gets me. Outside of the cumin – it’s really lovely!
SOTD is Infusion d’Iris. just haven’t worn it in awhile, didn’t realize it was Prada week (well, Prada Friday)! I might keep up the theme all week. I have enough Prada between samples and FBs … I can almost do five days of Infusions 😉
Haha, that’s great! I’d love to wear Prada all week. Maybe I can pick up some samples at Sephora tonight. I need the ambers –can’t remember what they smell like.
I really like Ambre pour homme intense! It is very masculine for the first half hour, but then it becomes and wonderful woody oriental that anyone can wear (in my opinion). I don’t mind wearingasculine fragrances though
Mon Parfum Gold by M. Micallef. A comfortable amber-y oriental 🙂
Black Cashmere yet again. It seemed appropriate for a dark, dreary day. Also sufficiently warm, considering that the heat is out in my office building.
BC! I haven’t been wearing it, since I’m having my (apparently) biannual winter BWF addiction. But it’s so good.
PdN Maharanih Intense, which is fascinating and definitely worth sampling if you haven’t done so. It starts of really bright and then goes raunchy. I’m not a fan of the intense orange top notes – it was like Tang (though for what it’s worth, I also dislike Atelier Cologne’s popular Orange Sanguine, so if you like that orange blast, this might be appealing). The mid and base notes are pretty good, if still a little too orangey for my liking. I don’t get much cinnamon or carnation (if we’re going by the Fragrantica notes list), but rather, the orange, cinnamon, and civet is combining into a cuminy note (I love cumin in my fragrances), definitely a bit of crotch.
Ultimately, I don’t think it’s for me, but I look forward to sampling it again before retiring it.
Ha ha – “a bit of crotch” love this description. Thanks for the laugh first thing in the day!
IT IS!! It is EXACTLY a bit of (male) crotch!! I AM VINDICATED! You don’t know how good that makes me feel.
I rather liked Maharanih, until late in the drydown when I started getting these whiffs of sweaty boxers. Actually called my husband over to check the authenticity… spot on.
Ha! Happy to help.
And lest anyone think I’m in any way normal – it’s the orange note that puts this in the “not for me” pile, _not_ the boxer shorts note.
Bwahhaha!! You are among friends.
🙂
Oh good. I was wondering about the crotch gender! No, seriously … I swear!
Oh my gosh, thank you all for the laugh!!!
L’Air du Temps from the eighties. The spray jammed and I got a big cloud all over myself, until I managed to pull it back. Lovely stuff, though, even in massive amounts.
That sounds very luxurious. I should probably get my sprayers jammed from time to time.
🙂
Costume National 21 for me today because I haven’t worn it in a while
I’m wearing Donna Karan Gold today. This one is a cheap thrill that I’m really enjoying. I bought it unsniffed on the strength of the nst and bdj reviews. I paid what I would pay for a mini for a full ounce of the edp. I am expecting a mini of Marni on Wednesday, so that is going to be my choice for Friday.
Gold EdP is really lovely – I got an ounce for about $8, shipped, on ebay a couple of years ago, and haven’t regretted it.
I swapped my Azureé for Donna Karan Gold(thanks Merlin!!lol). And also never looked back.LoveLove.
Bois des Isles and lots of it!! The semester starts today; I go back to work this afternoon. It’s overcast, cold and drizzling. I chose my scent carefully–I really needed a mood lifter.
SL De Profundis for me today. It’s grey and dreary and threatening rain. Call me crazy, but this scent seems very centering and calming, just humming along like a continuous “Om” chant. I don’t get the “funeral” vibe that so many others seem to experience. Very meditive and soothing, which is key for a Monday 😉
I have a sample of this coming in the mail (theoretically today, but it looks like it might be tomorrow)… I’m so excited to try it! Though, I hope I don’t get a funeral vibe either…
Oh, I love sames that are about to be delivered! You will have to tell me what you think of it after you have had some time to exore it. 🙂
Pacifica Spanish Amber here! The depths of winter are causing me to reach for the same few warming fragrances over and over. We had a two-hour delay today with freezing rain.
My Whole Foods used to carry Pacifica soaps. I liked that one.
I love Pacifica Spanish Amber! Layered or alone. I love Island Vanilla and Wakiki Pikake and Tibetan Mountain Temple. I find the lotions from this line and the soaps quite fragrant and nice quality. You smell divine!
Keiko Mecheri Myrrhe et Merveilles – my nose seems to translate this into aldehydes although I do not see them listed in Fragrantica or elsewhere. This gets rarely mentioned anywhere, but it is nice enough on a cold day, though.
As far as I remember, the ones I have sampled from Keiko Mecheri (including Myrrhe et Merveiles) were very well crafted, very beautiful but also very demure, almost withdrawn. They are exquisite but not really “me”.
Bvlgari Black, for a Monday morning i am not entirely prepared for. Not like it’s anything special, just prefer to repeat Sunday. If only.
I hear you 🙂
Jacomo Silences, green, green and more green.
Ah, Silences… have never worn it in winter, but it’s a staple for me.
I could wear Silences every single day.
SOTD was Prada Candy, but it’s evening now and I’m testing Tubereuse Criminelle and Carnal Flower side-by-side. I am leaning towards a FB of Tub Crim and that 10ml spray of CF.
I have not tried Carnal Flower, only Tubereuse Criminelle, but from what I remember it smelled a little bit like bandaids! Weird, but I liked it a lot.
Mitzah by Dior on one arm and Paul and Joe’s Bleu on the other.
My 3.4 oz of Natori arrived. My progression with this one is hilarious – a mini purchased blind in early December, a 1.7 oz ordered a week before Christmas, and a 3.4 oz ordered last week once I learned that it was discontinued. Love came quick :). I’ll probably end up acquiring more too, at the rate I’m wearing it…
Now I know what NOT to give you;-)
You are too generous as it is, but if you did give it to me, I would still be delighted, as I’m going to have to stock up to last me for the rest of my life :).
Have you smelled that one, dear? What do you think?
I have not tried it!
I’ll bring one of my bottles to our meetup, and you can make yourself a sample.
I need to hit up my 2ml spray and decide on this one while I can still find it, it seems! It was recommended when I said on here that I was on a hunt for plum scents. mmm, plum!! 🙂
I had no idea that I would like it so much. It was just a mini on Hautelook for $7 and I figured – why not? But the plum and the rose and the sweetness and….I just love this thing. And a good bottle too!
I am currently sniffing at this one because the Marni faded and thinking I might need a bottle myself! I bought Atelier Cologne’s Vetiver Fatale for the plum note but it tends to fade and leave a very unisex scent, whereas this is way more feminine. Aka, I like both but this is waaay different enough to justify another bottle 😉 I like the plum and rose together a lot.
And yes to the bottle! 🙂
Have you tried the Atelier Gold Leather? I love the spicy jammy plum note in that one!
I’m going to have to try that. Thanks for the recommendation!
You know the weirdest part? I hate plums.
And yet….
That’s really funny! Some people get a lot of booze in the opening of Gold Leather but for some reason I don’t. It’s my first love of 2015!
SOTD is a carry over from last night’s spray, which is the original Marni. It was faded but deserved a re-application – love this stuff. I’ve never seen Marni Rose anywhere to try it out, but from the review I’m guessing the original would still be my favourite. The great thing about perfume is how often you’re surprised, though! Has anyone seen it in Canada? I bought the original at a Sephora but my new Sephora doesn’t even carry that one. Alas!
I like Marni Rose best layered with Marni — they’re really nice together. They’re not all that easy to find here either, very minimal distribution.
Thanks for the info, Robin! It’s too bad it’s not widely distributed – I was very happy when I stumbled on Marnie at my old Sephora location because I thought all the stores carried the same stock. Nope. But it really got my hopes up seeing something that was a little dirty and spicy in a mainstream store! I mean, I know it doesn’t come close to niche brands, but for something in the suburbs, it was a miracle! 🙂
Marni is one of my favorites. I bought it at Saks almost a year ago, and enjoy wearing it a lot. This past September I went to Saks, and the sales associate there said Marni did not sell well and they pulled it off the shelves there. I am glad I bought it when I did.
That’s a shame, but glad we both bought while we could! I do kind of wish I’d gotten the biggest bottle but things were getting pricey at that point. I wonder if the bottle came into play with casual browsers – maybe polka dots attracted people looking for a sweeter scent, say? So hard to say, I would be terrible at marketing 🙂
SOTD = SL Chergui
I wore this yeaterday and decided I love it so much I’ll wear it two days in a row!
I love it when they’re that wonderful!
Great choice!Love Chergui
L’Artisan for Aedes (the original), courtesy of the last swapmeet. 🙂 It’s become this winter’s comfort scent!
SOTD is Concentree d’Orange Verte (Hermes)
Frederic Malle Vetiver Extraordinaire. The last drops of a 5ml mini. It’s good as A Vetiver scent, but I’ve finally decided it’s not a perfume note I’m particularly interested in exploring much further.Give me Iris/Vanilla/Tuberose/Incense any day!Have a great week NST!
SOTD is Osmanthe Yunnan. Need to stay calm for a week of programs at school…
Scent twins!
I adore this one!
Diorissimo for me – a gift from quite awhile ago and luckily it was a big bottle!
Horrible, horrible Monday.
I was mugged when getting in my car to go to work is morning. I screamed and the guy tried choking me to shut me up and grabbed my handbag and ran. 3 hours at the police station this morning and a very upset fiancé taking care of me now. At home with tea curled in blankets on the sofa and a tender neck from where I was grabbed. Phone locked and id, cards taken care of. I’m lucky the situation wasn’t worse, but I’m still seething with anger and will be for a while.
Wearing 10 Cormo Coso today.
Oh god, just clicked “post” on my own comment and saw yours. Glad you’re safe, and curses upon the mugger!
How awful! I am glad you’re “OK”, for some definition of OK. I hope your assailant a) is caught and b) suffers a miserable life whether caught or not.
Also, kudos to you for screaming and making a ruckus, and for reporting it.
Holy crap I’m so sorry you went through that. I hope you’re doing ok and that the @!*&^# gets caught.
So scary! I’m glad you weren’t hurt. I know first-hand how infuriating and violating an experience that can be. We’ve all got our fingers crossed that the guy gets caught soon.
How awful! Snuggle up safely at home.
Awful and horrible! Glad you’re ok and hope you get time to rest and recover.
I am so sorry. That sounds terrifying. Wishing you comfort as you work through this traumatic experience.
Oh gosh. 🙁 How scary and awful! I hope that the rest of your week goes much better.
How awful! I hope you are OK and your recovery these next few days is good. Once the anger and adrenaline wear off you need to take extra care of yourself.
Oh, how awful and terrifying, thank goodness that worst wasn’t done. May you find comfort in the small blessings of life, your helpful fiance, your tea, your scents, and hopefully, you can channel your justifiable anger to bring that rascal to full justice!
Oh my god!!!!!!! So, so glad you are safe and are being well looked after now.
Wow. That’s traumatic on so many levels particularly the neck grab and choking. So sorry that happened. Please make sure that someone stays with you for the next 24 hours and please do not underestimate the trauma of the attack. If there are bruises, make sure you photograph it (if it hasn’t been done already) for the assault charge when they catch the guy. Sending love and protection Reiki.
Shocking, truly shocking. I hope you nap and relax and get the thoughts of this creep out of your head. Knowing me, I’d replay the encounter over and over in my mind until I wore it, and everyone around me, out. Not to mention I’d imagine myself bashing him upside the head and making him beg for mercy while I looked at him in pure disgust. Too many tv shows, I suppose. In real life, this is nothing to fool with and I’m so happy you are snuggly and safe now.
Wow. So sorry, and it must have been awful but so glad you are ok.
Incredible. Incredibly awful experience – but glad you are okay.
I’m so sorry this happened to you! Kudos and bravo for fighting back! Sending positive vibes your way. Take care …
I am so sorry this terrible thing happened to you. Sending positive thoughts your way with hopes that your assailant is quickly apprehended.
Oh god, how horrible 🙁 I’m glad you had your IDs and cards taken care of, and that you’re physically OK.
Horrible.Just horrible.Glad you’re OK!Hugs from SA!!
This is terrible news! I’m so glad that you weren’t more seriously injured – but make sure to keep tabs on your mental health after such a traumatizing experience.
That’s terrible! I do hope they catch your assailant, and you feel better soon. I’m glad your home and safe now.
How terrible. Ditto everyone’s words above, and especially re: processing the event in the coming days. Glad you are safe. Take care of you, and keep us updated if you like. Hugs.
Oh no! I am so sorry this happened to you. Take care of yourself.
How awful! I hope they catch that guy! Hope you have a million times better day tomorrow
I’m so sorry. That must have terrifying.
L’air du Desert Marocain for me.
That’s the very best. You smell divine.
Thank you– wearing it again today!
Wearing Iris Poudre today. It’s just so pretty.. it’s one aldehydic fragrance that works for me. I hadn’t worn it in chilly weather, so I decided to see how it would do today. The weather really brings out the aldehydes. Not bad, but it made it a little “starchier” than normal.
Not sure what I’m going to do for Friday. I don’t have any Prada, and I’m not sure I have any of the other stuff on Daniela Andrier’s page. I might have a sample of Marni lurking about.. need to check my sample box.
Personally, I am sitting out this Friday, as I don’t even have any samples. I might wear an iris I *do* like, such as Bas de Soie. Oh, and today it’s Eau d’Hiver.
I was thinking along those lines too. I just haven’t clicked with the Prada frags I’ve tried, which is admittedly not many. I was thinking of ELdO Bijou Romantique, which I think of as “Prada Candy but better”.
I may have to sit this one out, too. Don’t have any Prada, unless I can find a sample of something, and none of the others listed on Andrier’s page. So you won’t be alone!
I actually like aldehydes in winter… especially when it’s dry and cold. Something about that makes them sparkle rather than going powdery and dull.
And love Iris Poudre anyway. My year’s budget bottle just showed up at the post office this morning, yay!! Now I can spritz generously.
Love that one. I recently got some in a swap, but when that is gone…
I like aldehydes a lot in winter too – there is something very different how they perform when it’s cold. I wear No 5 (esp. the extrait) a lot from Jan through the spring.
Congrats on your bottle! I’m really tempted to get a travel spray now that they’re offering them individually.
Donna Karan Chaos. The sample is running out. I’ll have to find more soon.
SOTD is Annick Goutal Vanille Exquise. I forget about this one b/c it’s in the back of my drawer. But it really is my fav vanilla that I own. So plush!
It’s an odd vanilla isn’t it? My favourite vanilla is probably L’Artisan’s Vanilia.
I need to visit this one again, even though I think it’s discontinued? I don’t know – it’s hard to keep up with L’AP these days. I believe I have a sample of it tucked away somewhere….
It has been discontinued. I’m not even sure that Havana Vanille is still production.
I used to love Vanille exquise, I have a bottle tucked away, I should revisit
Monday’s Keep-It-Simple scent is Caswell Massey’s Pure Frost: Bergamot opens up bright and fresh, then the scent softens with just a touch of Casablanca Lily and Indian Jasmine (just a kiss!) as it mellows to soft vanilla. Pure Frost was a LE from 2012 that I discovered via the lovely soap and bath products, then when the edt was clearanced out I bought one, fell in love with it as a winter skin scent, and bought a couple more as it was clearanced further. I notice today it’s again on their website for a mere $8.99 a bottle. It’s fresh and clean yet somehow soothing and comforting, just as the world is outside my window today: last night’s newly-fallen snow blankets the ground and sparkles and glistens in the bright sunshine under a clear blue sky.
It always perturbed me that CM never offered samples. I have and really like their Elixir of Love #1, so I want to give them the benefit of the doubt with their other offerings. I used to have their honeysuckle edt too. They’ve been putting out some new things the past few years, but unless you can get to the shop, it’s hard to sniff. One of these days I want to order some of the sandalwood talc to smell how it stacks up.
Monday’s SOTD was OJ Frangipani from a small decant I ordered to try it out for the summer. Unfortunately, although I like it, it doesn’t seem to have a lot of presence on me. It does compare favourably to my trees, however.
I switched to Champaca once Frangipani wore off.
This morning I am enjoying a few pre-shower sprays of Chanel 19 Poudre while I sip me tea and listen to the (subtropical) rain. It’s the last week of my holidays and I am determined to enjoy them! Not sure what I will go for when I get properly up and moving.
Oh, and I am activating a NY resolution to get more involved in the community side of this perfume hobby by posting for the first time!
Welcome!
Hi and welcome, and glad you’re sticking to your resolutions!
Thanks! I am in Australia and I’m still a little unsure how to approach the time difference she posting about SOTD and the community projects. What do others do?
Good question! People do pop in and out from all over the place, so you’re in good company. Hopefully a fellow Aussie will chime in …
Hi
Fellow Aussie here
I tend to do the Friday projects on a Friday, not sure why but Friday seems a good day for it and then read the thread and comment on Saturday morning but SOTD I tend to write what I am wearing when I read the comments so today’s its Tuesday’s fragrance!
A bit confusing but it works for me so far (even though I have reading for ages and only just started joining in a few weeks ago!
Saturday morning is a good time for reading blogs (and posting!) plus that way you know how the Friday project ‘turned out’ I suppose.
But yes, it does seem to make more sense to post your scent of the moment (as opposed to the previous day!). Perhaps I shall do that too.
Hello! I’m late to the party, but today I am wearing Eau D’Italie’s Paestum Rose. It’s very earthy on my skin and very “thick,” almost chewy. I’m a fan. 😀
Very lively deep rose! I don’t wear my decant enough.
Penhaligon’s Iris Prima. I’m really enjoying the soft, muted hints of sparkle and warmth. This is my second sampling, and I spent hours during the first go-round trying to get the scent of the ballet. Either I’m a sucker, or it’s there!
This morning I tried my sample of Fleurs d’Oranger one more time, but the cumin still gets me. Then I went to bloomies and tried a couple sprays of Acqua di Parma Gelsomino Nobile, which was really pleasant but is already gone. I’m now debating what to wear tonight… perhaps I’ll try the sample I got of Narciso?
Checking in late with my SOTD – Hermes 24, Faubourg.
Tuberouse criminelle which I love but for some reason it’s just not working today. I think I should have gone for something more laid back for my slobbing around home day!
I’m wearing Cartier La Panthere today.
