Surprise, it's another Monday! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Hermès Vanille Galante.
Reminder: Friday 1/2 is Go Big or Go Home Friday! You can interpret that howsoever you please.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2015, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: shown is the Hermès Assam Fusion stackable bracelet, $295.
Jealous of your Vanille Galante. That one really grew on me.
I’m moving today, sadly. Wearing Mitsouko edp to give me strength. 🙂
You have my sympathies — hope it goes smoothly!
Moving is always such a hassle– hope it goes well and keep your perfumes findable– I felt not quite settled until I unpacked them
If anything will help, it’s Mitsouko. 🙂 Good luck!
Good luck, wishing you much happiness in your new home.
Elixir des Merveilles! Feeling comfy and satisfied 🙂
It’s nearly New Year! Can’t wait!
You smell great!
Hi, scent twin! It was a problematic weekend, so I’m wearing Elixir for comfort and good cheer.
SOTD = Bvlgari Black
I’m off this week and will be around ‘fume phobe family members all day today so I am wearing a cozy safe scent.
Glad they are not so phobic that you can’t wear anything, and glad you’re with your family.
My SOTD is Oeillete Bengalle (sorry, I butchered the spelling ) by Aedes. One of my favorite winter fragrances. It is spicy in all the right ways.
Close enough, and you smell great!
THat one is really nice.
I’m headed to NYC this week and it will be my first time there on a non-business visit – meaning the days are stretched before me! I’m going to Aedes day one to try their house line, which I have yet to smell (nor have I been to the shop). I’m so excited!
How exciting! You must report back and tell us what you think. Let us know which ones you like.
If you feel like meeting in person, let me know. I am always up for making new perfume friends. My screen name is my yahoo address
Aedes is wonderful and they have the two most adorable dogs in the shop. I think I spent as much time scratching that furry little belly as I did sniffing perfume.
I’ve been taking a couple of Masque Milano decants for a spin, and I think Tango and Russian Tea will definitely find a place in the garage 🙂 Russian Tea today on a very cold snowy morning and it works to perfection, complete comfort!
Russian Tea is fabulous
I need to try the tea. Is it smoky?
Not really smoky, Robin. Definitely not the heavy lapsang souchong type of smoke some tea frags have. I get mainly a beautiful tea and woods with a touch of mint 🙂
Thank you!
Ymmv. It’s too lapsang-y for me, as it turns out…
Wearing tom ford sahara noir.
That’s a nice one, although it tantalizes me with its resemblance to another perfume — perhaps one of the CdG incenses?
Balmain Ivoire, the one before the most recent formulation
A kind Christmas elf left me a bottle of Frederic Malle Portrait of a Lady as a gift, so I have been wearing that.
It was an unsniffed present, but as it ticked all the right boxes (rose, patchouli, incense), I guessed I might like it. And I was right!
Incredibly tenacious, too.
Wow. Brave blind buy! I know that one gets a lot of love, and I’ve been anxiously waiting to give it a go. Next month I hope to get my chance, when it arrives to Our Lady.
My favorite Rose-Patchouli!And a little goes a looooooong way!LOVELOVE!
CSP Vanille Amande, one of the few scents on the face of the earth that the husband can tolerate. Not too sweet, not particularly confectionery, just this warm sugared-almond glow. One of the best things they ever made: how could they have discontinued it? I have a huge 150-mL canister of it: unless it goes rank, that should be many more years’ worth.
DK Gold — put on a bit before bed and it smelled so good I decided to re-up this morning.
This afternoon, I have an appointment at the immunologist’s office. As it is frequented by allergy and asthma patients, I should probably be polite and go commando. I’m tempted to choose something soft and with low sillage, though–so hard to go out NECKED!
Oh, don’t worry… actually you’re going out “naked.” 🙂 That is, the way many Southerners understand that term, if you have no clothes (scent) on, you are naked. If you have no clothes on and you are Up To Something, you are “nekkid.”
Hey, that’s really interesting! Thank you for the culture/language lesson! I come from small-town Oregon, which has some similar speech patterns as more rural parts of the nation, but there are clearly still some important regional differences. 😀
I’m in Hermes too – 24, Faubourg. I hear there’s a winter storm on its way to us here in Oregon (and my stupid daffodils are coming up already … which they do every year despite my nagging them about jumping the gun), so I thought I’d try to get ahead of the icy blast with something warm and bright.
I’m on the east coast and our daffodils are coming up early too … oh well! Hopefully they’ll make it through!
SOTD is Dune by Christian Dior. I need to start thinking about by New Year’s Eve scent – maybe Caleche by Hermes or Calamity J by Juliette Has a Gun.
I’ve worn Calamity J a couple of times and really liked it, but I’ve been waffling forever on getting a bottle. How does it wear for you?
Chanel 28 La Pausa.Applied this morning,8 hours later it’s still smelling like an Iris perfume should!Love it too bits, excellent in the current hot, humid tropical temperatures of Africa.
*to bits.English 2nd language.lol.Happy Monday NST!
You smell great. 28 La Pausa is one of my favourites. Can’t wait to spring for a FB!
Thank you Delacey.It’s a must-have for Iris-lovers!
ELdO Fils de Dieu.
I am drawn back to my sample(s) – getting FBW, but may be Like This will win
Or Rien
Or Eloge Du Traitre
or…………………..
All lovely choices,yes!
I have that problem too with ELdO.. ‘needed’ a fb of Fils de Dieu. Then Putains and Divin Enfant.. still hankering for Rein and Charogne and Vierges et Toreros… :-/
I went for a FB of Like This and I love it … ELdO prices seem reasonable too, compared to some niche brands!
Like This is on my wish list as well. And Afternoon of a Faun.
Stinking hot over here, so wearing L’Ombre dans L’eau edp. Strange how this seems designed to ONLY wear fabulously well in the heat. I tried it on an only warm day and it smelled chemical and not right. Nice to know there’s something to look forward to in 39°/100°F weather 🙂
What’s up with the current sucky extra-hotness here in the south? We’ve been having non-stop rainstorms/flashfloods/extreme hot days over here!
I wouldnt dare wish for flooding- but feel free to send some rain this way! Everything goes brown and crispy so quickly!!
L’ombre dans l’eau is one of my favorite summer perfumes, too. It has enough spine to stand up to freezing indoor AC, too.
In Eau de Camille today. It seemed so right, what with the sun beaming in through the bedroom window as I dressed this morning. I just knew it was going to be a warm, sunny day. Now, not so much. The sun has disappeared (and so has my resolve to walk on my lunch hour to start whittling away the FOUR pounds I gained over the holidays. ). Wait. I just checked the temperature. It’s 78 degrees. Okay, maybe I will walk. Maybe. Or, maybe I’ll just sit here and smell good to myself.
Go for the walk! You will stir up your fragrance and catch lovely whiffs. Two birds, one stone 😉
Said by someone who needs to take a daily walk herself but rarely does it… 😉
Gosh–wish you were here to walk with me. It IS a good idea, and I think I’m gonna do it. Yuppers Thanks for the encouragement. Hope I still smell decent when I get back to the office. 😉
I ended up taking a 10 block walk this afternoon – go us!
Burberry Body – just one spray, under clothes. This one has some presence, for sure.
But i love the musky vanilla and sweet rose. 🙂
I like that one too. 🙂
DK Black Cashmere, since it’s my new Christmas toy. The sample I had was the old version, and this is the new version, so I’m seeing some differences in the formula (mostly strength), and possibly a few more from finally having a spray bottle. In any case, I’m enjoying both the familiar and the unfamiliar. I miss some of the strength, but I’m more inclined to think I can get away with this in the summer now.
Black Cashmere in the summer?– that’s brave! I tend to only wear it in the very coldest temperatures as in below freezing. Such a great scent. Enjoy!
I like it in the fall! Such a cozy scent, but I don’t feel that it’s a powerhouse to be saved for super-cold weather. In any case, enjoy.
I’m home with a head cold so I spritzed on Vanille Violet from Laurence Dumont. I usually only wear this to sleep because it’s a comfort scent for me. I can actually smell it even with a cold. 🙂
That one is so pretty. Nice choice.
I like that one. I hope that my bottle is still good. I store it out in the open.
I am wearing Profumum Confetto, which has a lot of sweetness, but I like that. I get compliments on it when I wear it, but I am not going outside today, as it’s only about 3 degrees outside and I don’t have to be anywhere.
I love confetto! You smell great!
Thinking about spritzing some Lann Ael, for its whimsical fairyland vibe.
Girl, the CDG x Pharrell Williams scent. Picked up the 10 ml spray recently when Sephora was offering 250 extra points for any fragrance purchase. I had already gone through a few of their store-made samples, so figured 10 mls would be a safe bet. I love how ungirly it is.
It’s an interesting 1,that Girl! You also smell fantastic!
Thanks!
I wore this to the mall yesterday and got compliments from three strangers. That never happens to me. It’s strong on me and lasts all day.
Nice! I find I get about 4 hours, six if I really go looking for it. I wish it lasted longer. I guess my 10 ml will disappear pretty fast!
ZELDA!!
I’m fighting a cold with whiskey – Knob creek- some orange tea and a drop of LL Vanille 44.
Mmmmm. I think i might be coming down with something too. Better bust out the whiskey.
*fake cough*
Feel better soon!
Ha!
Sorry, not laughing at illness, just the fake cough!
SOTD DSH’s Vanilla Bourbon Intense. I got this as an extra sample when I ordered Scent of Hope, and I love this one! Comforting with all the vanilla, strength with the little boozy masculine opening and the on going woodiness – I am going to end up buying both of these (because of course, Scent of Hope just grows and grows on me. I read someone else’s comment that now that she has this, she doesn’t want to wear anything else! I think I will get both of these and just alternate back and forth….)
How does this compare to Guerlain SDV? Is it that Boozy?
I tend to love Guerlain scents, but I have not come across this one, so I can’t give you a comparison. It sounds very intriguing! I am going to put it on my samples to acquire list.
The boozy aspect of DSH’s VBI (love the initials…) lasts a little longer than I would have expected – 2-3 hours before it fades away, and the incense starts to come on.
I put this at 6:00 this morning, and now, 8 hours later, I have vanilla with incense under it, pretty close to skin, but definitely there.
Sounds Nice!! I’m going to try it.
I just blind-bought Scent of Hope, quite possibly my last fragrance purchase…in 2014; however, the year is not yet over so who knows 😉
Hajusurri, I am so sorry to hear about your father.
You sent me samples very shortly after I started coming here, which I never really thanked you for, so I am now. You are a great presence here at NST.
I will be so interested to read about your impression of Scent of Hope.
I suspect you will enjoy it. Glad you are treating yourself!
SOTD is Tom Ford Velvet Orchid that I found in my stocking Christmas morning. It is very strong like Black Orchid but smells so different to my nose.In the Jan. Vogue is a scent strip of it if anyone is interested.
I wore this on Saturday. I like it better than Black Orchid.
Do you? I like Black Orchid better lol
Most people do! I may be the only person has a bad scent memory associated with Black Orchid.
I don’t enjoy Black Orchid, though I really adored the Voile de Fleur edt version of it. Haven’t gotten a chance to smell Velvet Orchid yet.
Today I’m using up the last of my sample of TF Jonquille de Nuit, which I absolutely adore. I don’t understand why this one doesn’t get more love…. The juxtaposition of the cool, hyacinth top note merging with the snuggly, musky base is heaven for me. I wonder if Kevin has tried this one?
It’s gotten really cold here so I went with Amouage Memoir which works best for me in the frosty weather. Turns out it works pretty well on slightly hellish days too!
Hope Memoir is making things better.
I’m a bit under the weather so I’m in Comme des Garçons, Monocle Scent Two Laurel, which fits the bill.
Hope you get better soon!
Glad it’s making you feel better!
BK Rose Oud. I was trying a sample of SoOud Fam last night, but it was a bit boring, so I got out the Rose Oud.
I am wearing AA Flora Nerolia, which is one of my favorite AAs with plenty of orange blossom and jasmine (both fairly clean) on a bed of incense.
SOTD is Shalimar Ode à la Vanille. Looking forward to this Friday, I’m thinking maybe Paloma Picasso?
Great idea, I’m thinking of either Rien or Fracas!
Vero Profumo Onda extrait… smells great in the chilly air!
Going retro, as I often do, in Ho Hang Club by Balenciaga (reformulated version unfortunately)
The head notes are all wrong, smelling like Pez candy, but the dry down is quite similar to that of my vintage bottle in a wrist-to-wrist comparison.
SOTD is Lalique Encre Noire. This stuff is really good any time. I like to spray lavishly so that I get the nutty aspects of vetiver too 😉
The weather is pretty mild today, and has been for a while. Everyone seems happy about it but I just want it to get cold and be winter! I like sweaters and scarves and coats and cozy perfumes and it just isn’t cold enough!
Oh, me too. The CEO (currently at home during the university’s winter break) keeps looking out the window at cows eating grass and sighing happily that he doesn’t have to be outside feeding them, but I want my chilly weather back.
Oh, and vanille galante is wonderful! I recently went through all my Hermessence samples and that came out near the top. I am trying to narrow it down, so next time I’m flying international I can get the gift set … I remember there being more choices there.
Oeillet Bengale for me today – there’s just something calming about incense. This one is really nice. Not that I’m ready to spring for a full bottle of it, but I am certainly enjoying the sample.
We are scent twins! I love this one alot!
I’m wearing Sonoma Scent Studio Rose Musc with a little Yves Rocher Vanilla Noir over the top. It’s lovely. And in a while, I’m off to Lush to stock up on Rose Jam shower gel since it’s on sale and I’m addicted. It will be nice to get out and have a break from company (as far as they know we’re running some errands, which we are technically) while a friend watches the kids for a bit and holds down the fort while we’re out. Still no luck tracking down a bottle of Lust, yet, but I’m determined. 🙂
Une Fleur de Cassie today. I have to be in the right mood for this, but when I am, nothing else will do.
I have some bulbs coming up in a planter (I’m new to this house so I have no idea what they are). I had cleaned out the blown-in leaves last weekend. Looks like I’ll have to find something else for mulch lest the below-freezing temps coming kill them.
In Caleche again, for the third day running. No sign of it stopping soon.
Tea for Two tonight. It’s my Xmas present and I looove it so am mightily pleased. Thanks Santa.
Working on the apt the last few days – New Years is when I do my “spring cleaning”. Today I worked on my bedroom and therefore the overflow of samples and decants. Although things are nice and organized now, the place reeks and my husband claims he can’t breath, lol!
Of course I had to sniff a few here and there 😉
I also have a nice grab bag of samples to give at our next freebie meet.
SOTD: I have no idea at this point 🙂
FM Noir Epices. Got a slight pear vibe from the “green” part of it, never happened before.
I’m in Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt layered with Nectarine Blossom & Honey. Just drained my Wood Sage sample which is timely because I used a Nordstrom Note to treat myself to a FB (the little one). This combo just makes me smile. Nectarine Blossom & Honey reads a little to “bright” on me by itself, but I love it mixed.
Don’t you just love those Nordstrom Notes?
They’re dangerously perfect for pushing perfume purchases into the “practically free” zone. ; )
A friend diffidently passed along a 20-year-old bottle of Chanel No. 5 parfum, afraid that such an “old” gift was no gift at all, but I thought it was really generous of her. It was still in the cellophane wrapper, and I had to do the freezer visit to get the stopper out, but it seems quite unspoiled. Will think of her when I wear it, and the wee bottle is completely adorable.
How nice! Lucky you to have such a friend. Enjoy!
A bit under the weather, have laryngitis on the tail end of whatever upper respiratory flu has swept South Eastern Virginia. Going commando today but burning a gorgeous patchouli candle my Mom sent me for Christmas. While ill, I have been mostly wearing Chanel No 5, since it one of my favorite comfort scents. Received Kerosene Black Vines from my Santa, it is just too exuberently licorice for right now, plus my sniffer is undoubtly a bit off! Looking forward to truly smelling it! I wish good health and recovery to you all, my sisters and brothers in scent!
So sorry — feel better!
Tested Diptyque Geranium Odeur (spelling wrong perhaps). It immediately made me smile – so bright and happy and… Delightfully weird. I don’t know how often I would wear it but definitely want to try it in warmer weather!
Wearing Beloved Amouage…almost my sinature, next to Gold.
I keep searching for a perfect matching bodycreme for Beloved, I love bodyproducts so much!!
Divine by Divine – wonderful – glorious – old school in the best possible way and beautifully long lasting – this French perfumery is definately worth taking a second look at. Brilliant!
