It's hump day...what fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Serge Lutens Douce Amere.
Reminder: this Friday, 26 September, will be Uncle Serge Day...wear something by Serge Lutens. The following Friday, 3 October, is Purgatory Basket Friday...find a sample you haven't been able to make up your mind about, give it a second chance.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2014, where I'll try to always have the next six or seven weeks mapped out in advance.

Today I am wearing a sample of N°5 Eau Premiere..
To me I smell very elegant and feminine <3
You smell elegant and feminine to me too!
Seconded!
Thirded
fourthed
Gorgeous!
I was thinking about wearing Douce Amere on Friday. I love that one and don’t wear it nearly enough. Today I’m wearing Lyric Woman.
I don’t wear it enough either. The top notes on my bottle are a wee bit off, but the dry down smells just wonderful.
You smell sophisticated and lovely.
I layered Prada Infusion d’Iris EDP and Le Labo Vanille 44 (after a fit of inspiration in the shower). I like it so much I’m thinking maybe I should just get the IdI Absolue, even though I’ve thought before that the two weren’t different enough that I’d need both.
Interesting…I will try to remember to give that a shot.
I’m not feeling well at all today and today promises to be a long one, so I called on my little bottle of Shalimar parfum this morning to make me feel a little stronger.
Hope you feel better…
With Shalimar, you can do anything. Good luck today!
Shalimar is a wonderful fragrance and I hope you feel better soon.
Shalimar is such an empowering perfume, I like to wear it when I´m feeling a bit under the weather.
Hope that smelling wonderful gives you some comfort and the day goes faster than you fear.
Hope you feel better soon.
I am wearing Douce Amere, too!
Don’t we smell great!
You both do!
Sycomore today, love this stuff!
Love that vetiver! I’d be a very happy girl if a bottle of Sycomore landed in my hands!
Sycomore is lovely vetiver
I love Chanel’s Les Exclusifs range
Etat Libre d’Orange Eloge du Traitre today.Seeing that my confidence was SEVERELY betrayed,by someone VERY close to me earlier,it seemed appropriate….Persistent migraine is also not going anywhere,so all in all: not a good day.Hope you guys have a wonderful day.
Oh no 🙁
But smelling good is some consolation!
Yes, I hope so, too. What is this scent like on you? I can’t remember it clearly, even though I’m sure I’ve sniffed it at some point.
Cool rainy lovely day so perfect for Violette Fumee ~
Sounds lovely
Wonderful choice.
seconded
*So* perfect. 🙂
In a fit of inspiration I dug around and sprayed some of y too neglected Une Fleur de Cassie. As a mimosa lover I rather like it and seem to miss its challenging bits.
Finally made my visit to Macy’s, and got me some Calvin Klein Reveal. It’s my Sensuous.
Just got the rollerball, since I figure by the time I run through that I will run across bottles in my local Ross or TJ Maxx.
There’s a method to the madness 😉
Clever!
Thanks!
SOTD is Pour Homme (Van Cleef and Arpels). Should have worn something else, it was wrong the very moment I applied it. 🙁
Ugh! I hate when that happens. You just want to wash it off and start all over again!
That happens to me too. And usually I know it as I am pressing down on the sprayer… but too late!
Sniff the cap before you spritz! That’s what I do to make sure I’ve chosen the right scent for the right moment.
I am wearing my sample of October 1st 6pm Belvedere Villa
Borghese – Roma for the first time. It is such a fun scent to test! It does not really smell to me like a garden at 6 pm (although I have never been to Rome). The scent actually makes me think of a river or lake in the morning in early September. I get a lot of different notes, but there is a clean watery accord from start to finish.
When you go to Rome, please do go to Villa Borghese!
Oh I hope I will one day. I am sure it is a beautiful place.
Shady. Nice art and cute guards. 🙂
Bottega Venetta again today but was seriously (seriously) considering Shalimar Parfum Initial L’Eau because I’m still thinking about iris. Don’t tell my work-mates that I have a baggie of iris perfume samples in my purse for sniffing later on.
Running errands last night and came across a Burberry display. Was able to try the classic Burberry and the new My Burberry. I liked the classic a lot and may gift this to my nieces as an alternative to the frootysugarbombs out there. My Burberry was much more powdery than I expected and the bottle was tiny and quite adorable.
Douce Amère is wonderful. But then I’m fond of anise in perfume.
I’m wearing Equistrius today, after the lovely review on BdJ yesterday I couldn’t resist. It’s lovely and very soothing.
You smell marvelous. Equistrius is such a fascinating scent. Dry, floral, a bit leathery (iris?) a bit cuddly/comforting, with its rice note. I missed the review yesterday, so thanks for the heads-up. Enjoy your day!
Thanks! I really like it, although it is no longer my favourite of this line.
Which one is?
Probably a tie between Ambre Russe and Azemour.
It’s the third time this week I get reminded of Equistrius (one of the times it was BdJ’s review as well). I should probably wear it tomorrow.
Another interview today, this time a position for which I have absolutely NO experience. So that should be fun…Since it’s interview day, I’m going to stick to my usual Balenciaga Paris. My trusty security blanket.
After that, though, who knows? I am thinking Vent Vert when I get home.
Good luck with the interview!
Hope your interview went well! It is so hard to tell sometimes how they went, but at least you KNOW you smell good 🙂
I’m wearing Caron’s Nuit de Noel today. I have no real compelling reason to do so, other than I like it. A lot. But when I stood facing the horde this morning, it seemed to jump out and say wear me, will ya?
“facing the horde” – good one!
SSS Winter Woods. So far more successful than the samples tried yesterday. Somehow this is both warm and austere.
Love this one! You smell Fantastic!
I like Winter Woods but for me it’s (surprise! 😉 ) a winter perfume.
Nice choice!
My bottle of SL Douce Amere is all ready for Friday; I’ll probably wear that one then. Today I have on Bond No. 9 Harrod’s Rose.
Infusion d’Iris. Half the time, this one doesn’t even require me to think, which is certainly a good thing on some days.
My beloved kitty at home with my parents – I call her my one true kitty – is not doing well. She is 18 and has had a wonderful, luxurious life, full of cuddles, but it may now be coming to an end. Trying to cheer myself up with happy memories of my sweet girl…
Thinking of you and your sweet girl. They are our true loves.
Yes, they are. Thank you so much, sweet Ida.
Aw, it sounds like she is very loved. My kitty passed away in December at the ripe age of twenty. She was so wonderful, and perfect (not that I’m biased…) and I miss her all the time but she had a happy life, as it sounds like your kitty has too. Still, it is hard and I hope that your happy memories and elegant choice of Infusion D’Iris will cheer you up.
I’m sorry to hear about your cat. I lost a beloved cat about 12 years ago, and he was truly irreplaceable, even though I’ve had other cats since. My younger sister would always say my special cat, Max, smelled like me. Which means he smelled like Coco! He was solid black and just beautiful. I’d always make a joke with him when I was getting dressed for work. I’d say, Max, what should I wear? And he would say, Darling, you must wear black and you must wear fur. 😉
Love this. Max had style, huh.
I have a black fluffy cat who likes to sit on shoulders. He drapes his body across your shoulders, and then we say “Shoulder Cats are In this fall” and “anyone who is anyone is wearing a shoulder cat these days”
Cats are the ultimate.
Shoulder cats are timeless.
Give my regards to your fluffy black kitty person.
He was a gentleman of taste and style. I’m so glad you had him, though I’m sorry he’s gone.
Thank you Ann.
So glad your girl had such a long, happy life, and that you got to enjoy her kitty perfection. And I’m also so glad she had you. So many animals don’t get that kind of special love.
Thank you for your kind words.
Oh, I’m so sorry – my thoughts and prayers go out to you.
Thank you so much Jirish – that’s so kind of you.
I’m so sorry to hear about your kitty. My warmest thoughts to you and to her.
Thank you so much – I am indeed warmed by them.
Hold on to the love – it never goes away.
Lost my 20-year-old cat Silvia last summer, and our sweet 11-yo Hayley-dog this past spring. Still hanging on to the happy memories… hope you can.
So much loss in a year – I am so sorry Mals. I hope your memories of your animals comfort you too.
Thank you for your kind wishes and words.
Sending warm, comforting thoughts your way. It’s okay to be sad for awhile and shed a tear if need be . . . the loving memories will be waiting for you and will make you smile when your heart is ready. Take care.
Thank you so much for sending them – their warmth is felt and deeply appreciated.
I am very sorry about your cat, but it sounds like you two have had a long happy time together.Best wishes to you both.
We have – I know we have been so lucky to have her this long.
Thank you Yukiej.
Thinking of you and your kitty. So sorry you are facing this, and hoping she can be as comfortable as possible.
We’re doing everything we can – as she was cuddled throughout life, we will pet her through to the end.
Thank you so much Nebbe.
I am wearing Orlando, which is officially named for a character in a Woolfe novel. But to me, it does not smell a bit like a once radical Modernist (in the early 29th century meaning of that term) novel about transgender.
It smell like a traditional honey cake, dense and flavored with dark coffee or tea. In fact, I would name it Singer, after the great Yiddish writer (or Caterskill after Allegra Goodman’s great novel Caterskill Falls featuring a religious women who longs to become a professional Kosher chef).
I am wearing this honeyed scent because this evening begins the Rosh Hashonah in which honey (and those great honey cakes) symbolize the hope for a year filled with depth and sweetness.
Happy New Year!
Sorry to hear about your kitty, ihadanidea. Eighteen years is a good long life for her, but here’s hoping she can make it through her situation and be with you a little longer.
Just now saw this Mary Carol / thank you so much for your kind words.
Wearing Guerlain Terracotta Le Parfum — thought this one had escaped me for good but a friend gave me a decant from her bottle.
It sold out so fast!
Jealous of you today..
Still available in Brazil, but the price, with all the taxes, is so ridiculous that I can´t even consider.
Wearing Natori today. Not quite a blind buy because I’d tried it a few years ago but not quite as plummy as I remembered. Still pretty for a twenty buck impulse buy
Right now I’m wondering if I should buy a bottle of Natori. I have a large decant, but it’s really grabbed my attention lately. It is so reasonable at the online discounters. I forgot how buttery it is in the drydown.
Made the mistake of wandering into Perfumania during a sale…..
I hear ya! 😉
I went with SL Vetiver Oriental today. I like it a lot. It’s kind of similar to ELdO Fat Electrician but softer.
I love Douce Amere. I only have a sample but would love to have more of it.
Vetiver Oriental is one of my favorite vetivers. You smell great!
Thanks! 😀
SSS Champagne de Bois today. I really need to wear this more often, I forget how pretty it is.
I wore CdB on Sunday – it was finally just the perfect day for it and I’ve not worn it since last winter. It is so heady and sensuous!
For some reason, the last couple of times I’ve worn Champagne de Bois, which I used to love, it’s gone entirely too sweet. I don’t know why – I don’t remember it smelling so sweet the first year or so I had this bottle. Did it change? did my skin? did my nose?
No idea. I may have to switch it from a “fall” fragrance to an “only in freeeeeezing cold weather” scent, to be able to deal with the sweetness.
I really can only wear the smallest dab of it on my wrists. I know that the other year when I was really stressed out, it was too “symphonic” for my nose and my poor brain. Every once in a while it happens to me that a fragrance I like overwhelms me, so I’ll just put it aside for a while and revisit later.
You smell great!!!
AA Herba Fresca today. I’ve been wearing this one a lot this summer. And it is still summer here in SD, so I don’t think I’ll be wearing a Serge on Friday! I only have Chene or UBV and those are not fit for warm weather.
My SOTD is Robert Piguet Baghari. I’ve not worn it in many, many months. It was hiding in the back of my drawer, but just very politely shouted-out today. So gorgeous, so elegant! I am having flashbacks to a few years ago that Baghari was really one of my gateway aldehyde fragrances. Along with No 5 Eau Premiere, it really helped pave the way for me. I almost wore No 5 edt today, but I’m so glad I picked Baghari.
The rerelease? Somewhere I’ve got a sample of that… and a decant of vintage EdC, which goes through a stage of being Completely Filthy on me before edging back to politeness. I’ve never made up my mind about it, except that it didn’t woo me the way No. 5 parfum and vintage Arpege did.
This is the modern Baghari – I got the bottle about 5 years ago. It’s not the vintage which I have never smelled. Dirty, eh? Not this one. I don’t know if you would like this version anyway- this one is very powdery, and lots of OB/neroli. I think I am thinking you don’t care for OB, right? Well, it has a warm woody neroli/OB/cedar/carnations/rose & spice body, that is pretty much the same through drydow that lasts for hours. Actually, when I was wearing it today I was really thinking it might be a fun experiement to layer it with a vetiver like Sycomore or Encre Noire (yes, I have vetiver on the brian this year), just to kind of green it up a bit. I was thinking, gee, they should do a vetiver version of Baghari. Then I realized someone already has: it’s called Habanita. And so the circle is complete. I know you hate Habanita, so I’m not surprised you may not like Baghari either. Not that they are the same, Baghari is more warm and festive. But if you ever want to torture yourself, just let me know and I’ll send you a vial. 😉
Wearing Chene today. It’s wonderful, but I don’t think it can displace that other smokey wonder, Fireside Intense, in my heart.
Tokyo Milk Bulletproof. I´m finding out that I really enjoy this kind of creamy woods, such as EL Sensuous, too.
SOTD is Zelda from a sample- really liking this and my sample is almost gone already! It’s on my very short FB wish list.
I can’t really pinpoint WHY I like it so much, I am not even a “floral” fan, but something in this is a real head turner for me.
Happy Hump Day to all:)
SOTD is L’Ambre des Merveilles.. a nice no-thought-needed fragrance. I’m enjoying the turn in temp to wear these more cozy scents. I’m thinking this one might actually trump my love of L`Eau Ambree by Prada.
This is one of my favorites too! And the bottle (not that packaging EVER sways me!) is just beautiful! It just looks (and smells!) so classy, which I always aspire to be but rarely achieve! Oh, the pitfalls of being average (me, not the perfume!)
Enjoy 🙂
It’s a great bottle. The gold band is a particularly special touch.
Fragrance & lipstick! all help a lot 😉
My sneaky Serge SOTD was L’Eau. It’s odd. I’d forgotten it was cologne with incense/ashes on my skin. It dries down to clean musk. Pretty safe for the non perfume folk, but I’m not loving it. I’ll have to make up for it tonight with something HUGE, like TC, A la Nuit or Fleurs d’Oranger. Cumin and orange blossoms sounds great 😉
Yesterday I was testing Ann Gerard Rose Cut and finally realized that the underlying incense smelled a lot like Tauer L’Air du Desert Marocain, but softer, so I decided to wear L’AdDM to bed. It’s increasingly cool and gray here as a nor’easter closes in, so I’m planning to douse myself with it this evening, too. Nothing like incense to fight a damp cold!
Any excuse to wear L’AdDM! 🙂 So beautiful.
I’m trying my favorite new layering combo for the cool, rainy day here: SL Vetiver Oriental and vintage Tweed edc. I’m doing a 1:3 ratio, and it just might be a fall season HG.
SOTD is my newly-arrived 5ml decant of Tauer Sotto La Luna. Beautiful gourmandy gardenia w/ some other floral notes & woods – a little like SL Une Voix Noire, but I couldn’t wear that one because of its cigarette-ash-and-booze quality. The Tauer, I can wear.
Great choice!
Sounds gorgeous! I don’t like cig ash either.
SOTD is Kenzo Ca Sent Beau.
SOTD is Gris Clair; also starting in early on the Uncle Serge theme! And it fits the weather here today…
It’s a little cooler today so it was just me, myself and the Interlude Man in the studio today.
Yesterday was Ormonde Jayne Woman. Didn’t much care for it. Today SOTD is L’Heure Bleue.
We have similar taste–I never understood the OJ Woman hoopla, it smells terrible on me–but L’HB, that one is a marvel.
I think it was too many woody notes and that phantom tuberose note that I hated.
A perfect day for some Cuir de Lancome (all your recommendations made some impact as well :)).
SOTD: Dead Sexy by TokyoMilk
Trefle Pur was the first thing I picked up this morning. It’s lovely, but all wrong for today. Better luck tomorrow.
Timbuktu (“And back again! I’d risk everything. . . for youuuu…”)
Timbuktu is a great fragrance!
Hermès Eau de Pamplemousse Rose today. I like it, but I seriously have to re-spritz every two hours or else I can no longer smell anything. I need to upgrade to that Concentré de Pamplemousse Rose on the next bottle.
Sometimes it’s fun to get all spritzy though. I do the same when I wear Rosine’s Zeste de Rose.
Rainy, windy day. Cheered myself up with a rose body cream and then flagrantly spritzed myself with Rochas Femme. Much better! I really do not think there is another perfume quite like it.
