Jean Patou Deux Amour, Que Sais-je? & Adieu Sagesse ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 9 August 2014 14 Comments

Jean Patou Deux Amours, Que Sais-je? & Adieu Sagesse

Jean Patou will launch a second trio of reissued perfumes in their Collection Héritage: Deux Amours, Que Sais-je? and Adieu Sagesse, all originally introduced in 1925. (Chaldée, Eau de Patou and Patou pour Homme were reissued last year).

Deux Amours ~ a green floral originally called Amour Amour and dedicated to blondes. With bergamot, neroli, rose, jasmine, tuberose, ylang ylang, sandalwood and styrax.

Que Sais-je? ~ a fruity floral chypre dedicated to brunettes. The notes feature peach, apricot, orange blossom, rose, carnation, jasmine, honey and patchouli.

Adieu Sagesse ~  a gardenia soliflore dedicated to redheads, with bergamot, rhubarb, neroli, lily, narcissus, tuberose, gardenia and musk.

Jean Patou Collection Héritage Deux Amours, Que Sais-je? and Adieu Sagesse will debut in September, in 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

I wish they were offering them in a mini set.
This should make a lot of folks very happy.

Yes! Or even in some size smaller than 100 ml.

Beautiful bottle design. I can absolutely see one of these on my bureau.

I don’t think I’ve ever tried anything by Pateau other than Joy, and I believe my sample had turned. I am curious about this house, will have to dig into some reviews.

Vintage Joy is so gorgeous…if you ever have a chance, do try it! I tried a few of these when they were out as “Ma Collection”, but never fell in love with any. I think Angie will review Adieu Sagesse soon…

Lovely bottle design. They all sound try-worthy, so I guess desiring a trio means one should plan for hair colouring on rotation. :-)

All sound worthy of sampling, big sigh over size of bottles & cost. Robin, do you know who owns Patou these days?

Designer Parfums bought them from P&G in 2011, so far as I know they still own them. They’re the ones who brought on Thomas Fontaine, who has done all these reformulations.

Amour, Amour was absolutely beautiful. I wore it on my wedding day (28 years ago!) and thanks to a lovely and generous commenter here, I have a bottle of it. I’m very interested in seeing how close Deux Amours comes to the original.

I have some of these from the Ma Collection period and a couple of earlier ones. Que sais-ja? is one of my favorites.

The one I’d most like to see reissued is Vacances, because I’ve never found a full bottle feel lucky to have found the minis. And, of course, it’s beautiful. I’m also hopeful that it might be less harmed by the current IFRA limitations than some of the others, since it’s a lighter floral to begin with. Fingers crossed!

I own some of the Vintage of these, so it will be interesting to sample the new ones and compare them :)
