Up for grabs: Fragrance Republic 01/01 & 01/02

Posted by Robin on 18 November 2013 39 Comments — Comments are closed

fragrance-republic-01-02

What is it: the first two fragrances from Fragrance Republic, a new "club" that sends out original fragrances (I think they are projecting 10 a year) to its members. Their tag line: "in nose we trust". 01/01 is an iris fragrance by perfumer Nathalie Feisthauer, and 01/02 is a tuberose fragrance by perfumer Julie Massé. Both are in 15 ml and were tested lightly; larger sizes are available for sale at the Fragrance Republic website.

How do I get it: For a chance to win, leave a comment on the website telling me that you live in the US. Then tell me either a) your favorite perfumer and your favorite scent by that perfumer, or b) something else you've been dying to post in a comment.

Be sure to use the “Post a comment” box; do not reply to another comment! All replies to comments will be deleted!

The contest will be open until noon or so on Friday, and I'll announce the winner on Tuesday.

The fine print: Don't enter the contest unless I have permission to use the email address in your reader account to contact you. If the email address in your reader account is incorrect, you might want to fix it. If you are the winner and you fail to send me your mailing details within a couple weeks, I’ll give your prize away to someone else. Sadly, it sometimes usually takes me a month to mail a package. Reasonable care will be taken in the packaging and mailing of your prize, but if the contents are lost or damaged or fail to please you for any reason whatsoever, I’m sorry but I cannot replace them.

I live in the USA, and I’d love to try these. You may use my email on file. My favorite perfumer, very hard to pin down, depends on my mood. In the autumn, it would have to be Christopher Sheldrake, with Chergui for Serge Lutens…!

I live in the US and and I’d love to try this. You may use my email on file. I have abandoned having a favorite color, a favorite singer, a favorite food, or a favorite anything. Why limit the enjoyment of the wide world by choosing and relegating the rest to second best?

I live in the U.S. and my favorite perfumer at the moment is Laurie Erickson of SSS. Many of her fragrances are rich and woody – just wonderful for fall. Hard to choose a favorite but I seem to be reaching for Champagne de Bois more than anything else these last few weeks. I also particularly love Ambre Noir and Incense Pure at this time of year.

    I live in the US.

As much as I have admire JC Ellena’s work , I don’t love very many of his fragrances. I guess i have to pick Andy Tauer as my favorite perfumer–Eau d’Épices is my favorite of his fragrances!

    Thanks for the draw!

I live in the U.S. and I have been sampling the Armani Prive dark collection. I especially love Rose d’Arabie and Cuir Noir.

I live in the US but i could never pick a favorite- perfumer or scent from a single perfumer. My thinking went something along the lines of- ‘Edmond Roudnitska? then it would obviously be Diorissimo- wait- Parfum de Therese! I don’t know!’
So I’ll settle for saying how excited I am for upcoming Thanksgiving break- college is exhausting me. My scent of the ballroom dance competition yesterday was vintage Shalimar, and it was more than up for the twelve plus hours on the road and hours of dancing. Even if the comp didn’t go that well, at least I smelled fantastic!

I live in the US and the idea of a “scent of the month” is somewhat intriguing, although I hope each formulation took longer than 30 days from inspiration to shipment…My favorite perfumer is Mark Buxton and I pretty much love all his scents.

    Robin,

I live in the US (Maine, specifically) and just turned 50 on Saturday. My favorite perfumer would have to be Andy Tauer, not just because he’s brilliant, but because he seems like a really great guy. My favorite fragrance currently would have to be Les Nombres d`Or Vetyver by Mona di Orio.

I live in the US and find this concept really intriguing. There are so many subscription programs out there. Why not one for different fragrances since Thierry Mugler offers one just for Alien/Angel. Please feel free to use the email in my account, and I can’t possibly pick just one perfumer because it is such a mood thing for me. 🙂

I live in the US, and these look really interesting! My all time favorite perfume is probably Sikkim Girls by Lush- it’s really warm/sweet/spicy and develops differently on different people, but always well. (Also, it’s got a great dropper applicator.)

I live in the US. I’ve recently sampled some fragrances from Mandy Aftel. I don’t think I would call her my favorite perfumer, but I do like her approach to natural perfumes.

I live in the US! I don’t really have a favorite perfumer, but I do greatly admire Jean Claude Ellena, Tom Ford, and Jean Paul Guerlain for the direction the give to their houses. We have had discussions before on NST about what qualifies a fashion brand (“glorified tailor”) to produce fragrances. Hermes has so many quality offerings under JCE that I think of them equally as luxury perfumery and luxury accessories, etc. Same for TF and the work he has done not only on his own brand, but other houses as well. My all time favorite scent was produced while he was in charge at Gucci. As for JPG…I love nearly everything Guerlain made up until the time of his departure. Since then, my respect for the house has been in steady decline.
