Dita Von Teese Erotique ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 6 September 2013 18 Comments

Dita von Teese Erotique

Burlesque model and actress Dita Von Teese will launch her fourth fragrance, Erotique, in October. Ms. Von Teese noted on Twitter that...

...Erotique is an abstract scent of alchemy, notes of animalistic leather, burnt woods, carnal rose. I'd say it's slightly disturbing.

Additional notes include pepper, coriander, musk, cedar, sandalwood and gaiac wood.

Dita Von Teese Erotique will be available in 20 and 40 ml Eau de Parfum.

I think it’s kind of funny when people who hate useless celebrities love Dita Von Teese. She literally does nothing but sit in a giant martini glass and go to any red carpet event she can (like some dog apparel party hosted by Dsquared and the Wiener Opernball with some entrepreneur who takes people like Paris Hilton and Pamela Anderson to promote his businesses).
But people think she’s so much classier than Paris Hilton and other similar people. Apparently having grey skin as opposed to orange skin makes you interesting. Nobody is even orange anymore.

Admit I have little opinion on her either way…

Robin, is gaiac wood the same thing as oud, or no?

      The NST glossary (https://nstperfume.com/perfume-glossary/) says:

“Guaiac (or Gaiac) Wood: the oil is steam distilled from a South American tree that produces the hardest, densest wood known. Also known as ironwood, lignum vitae.”
      and
“Agar wood: from the Aquilaria tree, and also called Oud or Aloes wood. The tree, when attacked by a common fungus, produces an aromatic resin that has long been used in the Middle East as a source of incense and perfume. Now considered endangered in the wild due to overharvesting, and modern oud fragrances frequently use synthetic substitutes.”

Oh, and sorry to jump in and answer for someone else. I am procrastinating — today is my day off, but I brought work home and I am not looking forward to getting to that work. I work for the government, so working for free is like working for myself, right, since I’m a taxpayer? 🙂

I don’t like Paris Hilton and I do like Dita Von Teese. I just find her version of “look at me” more attractive and compelling! And her persona is centered around presenting herself as a woman instead of a spoiled little girl. Also, she is far less omnipresent than others of that ilk — I don’t really look at red-carpet coveage so I’m not seeing her at those, and she doesn’t do Burger King commercials where she pretends to have orgasms from eating a hamburger.

That said, didn’t she just come out with a perfume about a month ago?

That’s how I feel! I barely know who any of them are anyway, nor do I hate any of them, but whenever I have seen her anywhere, she’s beautifully dressed.

Kind of ironic that the burlesque dancer is the one most elegantly attired, while the ones who purport to be actresses go out of their way to look (and act) like strippers. NTTAWWT!

I’m a bottle tart, and I love the 20ml versions of these. This sounds like the scent I’ll like the most. Looking forward to it.

It’d be wonderful if all her perfume releases so far came out in a 20ml coffret. I’d buy it in a heartbeat. 🙂

I think Dita is a talented and entertaining performer and she is famous for her burlesque dance rather than being famous for just being famous. She is a beautiful woman and I love her style. That being said I have no idea if this will be a classy scent or just another celebrity perfume, but I will try it if I get a chance. I too wish her fragrances came in 20ml, I’d buy them all. BTW, her skin isn’t grey it’s alabaster and she’s rockin’ it.

They are all available in 20 ml! The standard bottle sizes for all of hers are 20 and 40 ml (and the 20 are more appealing IMO).

Thank you! Scored a 1.4 bottle at her most recent show, Strip Strip Hooray! and both the bottle and the juice is gorgeous and I love it! I tried all four of her scents at the show and I liked them all, they are all so different that all her fans are sure to find at least one they like, Erotique sold out I noticed and was the hands down favorite of the evening, I can see why, it’s a delicious sandalwood smell, not as exciting as the advertising would like you to believe but that’s almost always true, it is an excellent evening scent and thrilling Second Date smell, when your date is paying for dinner but you’re being coy and not ready to get into her car yet, Erotique is a promise of what is to come on date three ;D If you’re not a Dita fan, then once again there’s no reason to rush out immediately and buy a bottle but if you are, you will not be disappointed.

eek, forget to mention what it smells like, Erotique smells like Bandit’s sweeter, younger little sister. Erotique is basically Bandit but with sandlewood incense instead of expensive tobacco, whereas Bandit wears a leather catsuit and 9 inch fetish ballerina heels and ties you to the bed, shoves a ballgag in your mouth and ravishes you until you pass out from pleasure, Erotique wears a cute little leather corset and restrains just one wrist to the bedpost with an adorable fuzzy handcuff. I would recommend Erotique for the shy or if you’re not shy, as an evening perfume when you’re spending an evening with someone you feel attracted to but…you’re not sure they’re deserving of Bandit…yet. PS: Erotique has great staying power, you will be smelling it until morning, and a nice but not overpowering silage.

Tried to sniff the first DvT perfume at Boots in England this summer, but it had already been pulled. It’s odd that there’s they’re not easily available in North America, as I believe she’s American. Maybe her career is mainly in Europe…?

Yes, unfortunately her career is mostly in Europe it seems. I’m a long time Dita fan and I’ve noticed she spends most of her time outside the US. I think that is just what happens when you’re a 40 year old sex symbol. In the US your career is over at 30 if you’re a woman but not Meryl Streep or married to David Beckham. Some people say she’s overexposed but I think that’s also only in Europe as I never hear her mentioned in the US press.
