Ralph Lauren Polo Red ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 28 May 2013 10 Comments

Ralph Lauren Polo Red

Ralph Lauren has launched Polo Red, the latest flanker in the Polo series for men that began in 1978 with Ralph Lauren Polo:

Polo Red is a fiery blend of spicy red saffron, fresh red grapefruit and deep redwood that ignites the thrill seeker in every man.

Additional notes include cranberry, lemon, red sage, lavender lavandin, amber, coffee berry and cedar cedrat.

Ralph Lauren Polo Red is available now at the brand's website, in 40 45, 75 or 125 ml Eau de Toilette.

(via ralphlauren, additional information via magazin.flaconi.de)

Update: Polo Red is a spicy woods developed by perfumer Olivier Gillotin; it was inspired by Lauren's "passion for cars and speed".

(via press release)

Cranberry is where they lose me on this, I’ll still sniff it but not getting my hopes up. Don’t want too much cran on my man!

I will sniff, too. I might like this for me – I love saffron in scent.s

Hard to say if it will even be noticeable.

Oh, I know. But I’ll give it a try. I’m just waiting for Polo Oud.

Ya, but I bet the grapefruit note will be nice and big…I could just see this as too sweet like most men’s scents these days. I don’t like sweet in men’s scents. Give me Brut over anything sweet!

So this is a flanker to the flanker of the flanker to the ultimate flanker…so many Polo’s, and i’m so confused. What’s next Polo L’eau, Noir, Intense, Fresh, Gold, Platinum…well you catch my drift.

As far as noir, they already have Black and Double Black but watch a noir will come out, lol. I’d sniff it..I like Double Black but too much mango makes it too sweet for me, I think it’s mango anyway, lol. I want something woodsy and dark without fruit.

No, just a flanker — not a flanker of a flanker or anything. That said, there are an awful lot of flankers to Polo now.

I think the polo series is their best, so they can keep coming out with flankers. The Big Pony fragrance set was really lame, and i wasnt a huge fan of any of the Romance’s either. Sad to see Polo Explorer be discontinued.

Ralph Lauren must be color blind (or nose blind?) because this “Red” on e smells just like the blue, white, black….etc.
