Those bottles look sorta pretty..but I boycotted VS long ago. It used to be a very classy boutique..then it went all trashy with non-classy advertising, just imo!

They’ve changed quite a bit over the years, that’s for sure.

I can agree with the comment in Perfumes: The Guide, something about how VS used to cater to tarts who wanted to be good girls, and now caters to good girls who want to be tarts. They seem to have gone from lacy dainties to bulging cleavage, and I’m getting tired of seeing those sparkly “Love Pink” clothes on every teenage girl.

In any case, probably no hope of Peach Hyacinth making a comeback.

These bottles are pretty, but as someone who wouldn’t fit into anything VS sells, I don’t enjoy going into their stores, even just to look at cosmetics.

Basenotes lists 92 in the last 24 years, which doesn’t sound so tragic — an average of only about four a year, assuming Basenotes’ database is complete, which (not knocking them in any way) it probably isn’t — but VS has already released six in 2013, and they did 14 in 2012, so they really are just cranking them out, and I bet you couldn’t tell any two of them apart with a gas spectrum chromatograph.

I refuse to count my whole listing, but just look at the last couple years:

That’s 19 just for last year, and for that matter, I don’t include all of their scents — if they only do a scent in body mist, I usually skip it, and they do quite a few of those.

The vanilla in Italian Mandarin makes it sound like Orange Julius…

I have Coconut Passion (Vanilla/coconut) and other than this it seems like the ones I like are discontinued(Basic Instinct, So in Love, Victiorian Garden line, Dream Angel Wish).Agravating.

I used to enjoy a few of their scents (and some other items as well) but I’m truly turned off by their most recent attempt to market sexy (no wait – I take that back – slutty) undergarments to tweens. The brand truly has changed, and not in a way that will get my business. Which is a shame, since I have a lot more discretionary income than the average 12 year old.
