Acqua di Parma Acqua Nobile Iris & Acqua Nobile Magnolia ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 31 January 2013 9 Comments

Acqua di Parma Acqua Nobile Iris

Italian niche line Acqua di Parma has launched Acqua Nobile Iris and Acqua Nobile Magnolia, new Eau de Toilette versions of 2006's Iris Nobile and 2009's Magnolia Nobile respectively (and see also: Acqua Nobile Gelsomino).

Acqua Nobile Iris (shown) ~ "A radiant creation that celebrates the precious Iris Pallida flower illuminated by the first rays of the sun. The luminous opening begins with notes of citron, grapefruit, and mandarin. Vibrant neroli and violet leaves enhance the green freshness of the Iris Pallida and orange blossom that define the heart of this refined composition. The fragrance concludes with soft notes of vanilla and musk."

Acqua Nobile Magnolia ~ "A brilliant fragrance that reveals the majestic purity of magnolia blossoms at dawn. A radiant opening of pure Italian citrus notes of bergamot, mandarin, citron, and lemon is enriched by vibrant neroli that illuminates the sheer floral heart. The delicate magnolia flower is enhanced with lily of the valley and freesia. The fresh bouquet continues to evolve with soft notes of jasmine and orange flower, concluding in a dry down of vanilla and musk."

Acqua di Parma Acqua Nobile Iris and Acqua Nobile Magnolia are available now at Neiman Marcus, $170 for 125 ml Eau de Toilette.

Wasn’t there already an Iris Nobile EDT?

Yes, it came first, in 2004. Don’t think they’re still making it though, and doubt this one smells much like it. I smelled the magnolia & jasmine yesterday, but didn’t see the iris, so can’t say for sure.

hmmm, just ordered the orig Iris edt from Saks recently…hope it’s not discontinued. Like both orig edt & edp, didn’t care for the Sublime. Did you try/review the Sublime?

I think last I looked, the original EdT was no longer listed on the AdP website — but I could be wrong, and that’s not really definitive anyway. I never did try the Sublime.

Everybody’s doing an Eau/Acqua version, fresher than the EDT!

“I smelled the magnolia & jasmine yesterday, but didn’t see the iris, so can’t say for sure.” … okay, so what’d you think?

Well, didn’t pay a whole ton of attention, just sprayed them on cards…bear in mind that I thought the EdPs were pretty light & basic & clean anyway. These seemed likewise light & basic and not all that interesting. But a fan of the originals might feel otherwise.

I was more interested in the iris because I don’t care for the EdP, and it’s much heavier than the magnolia or jasmine. I was sort of wondering what they’d do to it, & how close it might be to the original EdT, which had lots of anise & orange blossom.

I’d love to try the magnolia, but with my luck, I’d love it, and it’s expensive. I’m trying to save my pennies in case the new Chanel appeals to me beyond all reason. And it might – but if it doesn’t and I can find this magnolia…

      maggiecat,

Did you ever try the Kenzo Eau De Fleur de Magnolia??
It is light and rather lovely.
To me, it does smell like magnolia flowers that I have sniffed here in California, but maybe not like those in a hotter and humid climate.
