Up for grabs: The 7 Virtues Middle East Peace + Make Perfume, Not War shirt

Posted by Robin on 8 October 2012 50 Comments — Comments are closed

Make Perfume, Not War shirt

What is it: A 50 ml bottle of The 7 Virtues Middle East Peace, used for testing only (it is 99% full), plus a t shirt with "Make Perfume Not War" on the back and a rose petal peace sign on the front (see image here). It is a size L, but I usually wear a S or M and it looks like it would fit me fine.

How do I get it: For a chance to win, leave a comment on the website telling me that you live in the US. Also, please tell me about your favorite scent from The 7 Virtues, if you've smelled any of them. Otherwise, tell me about the last fragrance you tried and what you thought of it.

Be sure to use the “Post a comment” box; do not reply to another comment! All replies to comments will be deleted!

The contest will be open until noon or so on Thursday, and I'll announce the winner on Saturday.

The fine print: Don't enter the contest unless I have permission to use the email address in your reader account to contact you. If the email address in your reader account is incorrect, you might want to fix it. If you are the winner and you fail to send me your mailing details within a couple weeks, I’ll give your prize away to someone else. Sadly, it sometimes usually takes me a month to mail a package. Reasonable care will be taken in the packaging and mailing of your prize, but if the contents are lost or damaged or fail to please you for any reason whatsoever, I’m sorry but I cannot replace them.

I am in the US– usually so far from anything fun to smell, so I’m glad to be up East right now! I think the last I tried (how is a week ago feel so far away?) was Kelly Caleche, which I was shocked to drain the sample of…

I have not had access to this line so I have not tried it yet. Just tried a decant of Rue Cambon. Chanel is avery different line form this but lovely. I live in the US. Please enter me.

I live in the US and haven’t tried this line. I’ve been on a sampling binge and tried CJ Scents Vetiver Rose this morning; the rose is a bit too sweet & powdery for my taste but the woody vetiver drydown is lovely. Thanks, Robin!

I live in the US. I’ve never tried The 7 Virtues, and I’m currently on a no-buy status (as per my husband). The most recent scent I’ve tried is Honey Lips Kiss Macaron au Cassis, which I won from @ScentChemistry’s twitter giveaway. I was so amazed by the story of this perfume, and I cannot believe it was designed by a student! At first whiff, I was afraid it was too young for me, but the drydown was unexpectedly musky and sophisticated (although still very much a gourmand).

Hi, I Live in the US.

Last scent tried: I recently dug out a sample of Michael Storer Poem (From the Perfume in a Poem competition looong ago) and had a renewed appreciation for it. I’m sad Michael Storer did not make more of this perfume – I would buy a big bottle in a heartbeat!

I am in the US. I have had the opportunity to sniff the Haitian Vetiver, which I have placed on my to buy list because I need a straight-forward vetiver. You may contact me at my email address on my reader account. Thanks!

I live in the US. Recently I’ve sampled Prada Candy a few times. I didn’t think I’d like it because of the sweetness, but it’s well grounded with iris. I just don’t know if I really need a full bottle at that price.

I live in the U.S. I’ve never tried 7 Virtues (yet). The last fragrance I tried and loved, was Kelly Caleche. It’s now at the top of my to buy list. I was feeling pretty crummy when I wandered into Sephora in my baggy jeans and old t-shirt and as I wore Kelly Caleche while browsing I felt progressively elegant.

Chrisskins: made in the USA and proud resident therein. Would love to flex my perfume muscles in that tee and try spritzing the 7 Virtues as practicing them has been touch-and-go. I wish Prada Candy would retain the super candy top note and generally stick around a while after application.

I live in the U.S. I have never smelled anything from The 7 Virtues, but would love to! The last fragrance I tried happened to be yesterday when I was at Macy’s. I tried Lady Gaga’s “Fame.” I thought it was interesting, but not as groundbreaking as I would have expected from Gaga. It was not particularly long-lasting on me, either.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

I live in the US. I’m giving Amarige Mimosa a spin today. I bought unsniffed and, while it’s ok, I would not have purchased it had I tried it out first. OH, when will I ever learn?!

    Hi!
I live in the US, and you have permission to contact me.

I haven’t tried this line. I *did* try the new Amouage Interludes (woman and man), and I found the men’s scent lovely–smokey and less dense than many Amouages but still complex. The women’s version was less interesting.

I’m in the US and I haven’t tried this line, though I’d like to. I recently tried a whole whack of Montales, none of which I loved. Chypre Vanille was nice and Aoud Lime was interesting but I won’t be buying any…

  15. breathesgelatin says:

I live in the US. I haven’t tried any of the 7 Virtues perfumes. The latest perfume I’ve tried is Seville a l’Aube, which I’m testing for the first time today. I like it. Orange blossom + green lavender + musk. But, honestly I’m a bit disappointed I don’t pick up on more of the incense + beeswax. I’m still searching for the perfect dark orange blossom, I guess.

I live in the US and have not tried any of this line yet. The last perfume I tried was Taken by Jane Booke. It’s very vanilla. That’s really all I can say. It’s a somewhat sweet vanilla scent. There’s not much else going on with it. I like vanilla but I prefer my vanilla perfumes to have a bit more to them. There are other notes in the scent but my nose just doesn’t detect them. Taken would be a nice candle.

I live in the US, and I have not had the opportunity to try this line yet, but I would like to. I just went on a big sample buying spree at Luckyscent after a moving-induced buying buying freeze, but in the meantime while I wait for my order, the last scent I tried was Kate Walsh Boyfriend. It’s not bad, but I don’t find it terribly compelling. It actually struck me as being what someone could wear if they want to wear Bulgari Black but are scared of the rubber note.

I also recently smelled TM Angel and Alien Fragrances of Leather (the TM lady at Saks called me a couple weeks ago to let me know that they had come in), and I have to say I was kind of disappointed. I had sort of hoped that this might win me over on Alien, but that was not to be. The leather note was nearly imperceptible on my skin, and while it was more subtle than I would’ve liked in Angel, it was at least detectable (nothing else is subtle about Angel, why start with this? lol).

I live in the U.S. I haven’t tried any of the 7 virtues perfumes yet. The last scent I tried was Eau Duelle by Diptyque. It was pleasant but not very memorable.

I live in the US, and right now my favorite scent isn’t bottled. It’s the perfect raw scent of fallen, slightly decomposed leaves that are blanketing my lawn in Vermont.

I live in the US, and haven’t tried any of the 7 virtues yet but am hoping someone will carry samples soon. The last thing I tried was a sample of Prada Candy (late to the party!), and it was definitely not a favorite — mostly too sweet and not very complex/interesting on me.

    Thanks Robin!

I live in the US but I haven’t tried anything yet from this line. The last new scent I tried was Farmasia SS Annunziata Talc Gourmand. I liked it quite a bit as it was like Cara on steroids, though it could use a bit more almond in my opinion. Thanks for the contest!

  23. Ariel says:

Thanks for this contest; I live in the US. I haven’t tried anything from this line, but this one sounds like something I need for the dead of winter, when sunshine months seem so far away.

I am revisiting Voleur de Roses. In the past is has been one overpowering patch-fest; now I’m getting the winy-plummy rose too (and the patchouli is less overwhelming). I’ll probably get a larger sample of it, but it’s not FB-worthy.

I live in the US, and I have never tried a 7 Virtues scent, but this sounds lovely as I really like citrus. I tried Chantecaille Kalimantan on skin this weekend, and I liked the incense, but it veered into too-sweet on me at times and (strange complaint, I know) lasted too long. My cotton jacket smelled strongly of it all the next day, and I had applied it to my skin. Inspired me to get a sample of CdG Kyoto, though!

I live in the US. Regrettably, I haven’t experienced 7 Virtues yet:(
The last fragrance I sampled was Tom Ford’s Cafe Rose. I got: fizzy and sparkly, yet also something dark and dingy, like a rose that fell in mud. A bit defile. Definitely NOT your Nana’s rose perfume:)

I live in the US and I’ve tried 7 Virtues and I liked Haitian Vetiver the best, but I was also quite fond of Middle East Peace and Noble Rose, The Orange blossom was very good, but I don’t wear orange scents.

I live in the US and you have permission to use the e-mail address in my account. I haven’t tried any of the 7 Virtues fragrances, though I love orange blossom and have had to make a serious effort not to blind-buy that offering.

The last new-to-me fragrance I tried was Heeley Cardinal, which I would absolutely buy if I didn’t already own CdG Avignon. Cardinal is a bit more citrusy in the opening, but after 10 minutes or so it seemed almost identical to Avignon.

I live in the US. I have never tried this line yet. The last perfume I tried was Parfums de Nicolai Odalisque. It is quite interesting, and not quite like anything else I have tried. I need to test it a little further to see what I really think.

I live in the US and never heard of the 7 Virtues line. The last perfume I sampled was Coco Noir. I never thought I would say this about a Chanel, but Coco Noir was definitely unmemorable.

I’m in the USA and a Canadian friend sent me a sample of the Orange Blossom, which is my favorite perfumery note. It was a real treat and I’d be ecstatic to win a full bottle of Middle East Peace.

I have never come across this line. I do enjoy citrus and would love to try this scent.
The last scent that I had on was Azemour Les Orangers by Parfume d’Empire. It just makes me so happy–I think that a full bottle is in my near future.
    Thanks for the drawing, Robin.

I haven’t tried any fragrances by this company, but now I really want to. The last fragrance I tried was… hmm… I think it was John Varvatos Star USA, which was alright, if not distinctive.

I live in the U.S., and while I’m not familiar with the line, the last new scents I tried were the three Ann Gerard/Duchaufour scents. Happily, none went onto the Must list, but Cuir de Nacre came closest to something I’d wear. The opening is all Traversee au Bosphore on me, but, alas, it slips away rather quickly.

I live in the U.S. and haven’t tried 7 Virtues. The last perfume I tried was By Kilian Good Girl Gone Bad and I was totally underwhelmed. the scent doesn’t fit the name. It’s a light fruity floral, similar to so many others on the market.

  45. sherobin says:

I live in the US. The last fragrances I tried were a slew of Thierry Muglers that my sister brought over, just this morning. I liked the Cologne, but not more than some others of its kind. A*men was a little rough on the open, but the drydown was really nice. Might give it a better test run tomorrow. Alien Essence Absolue was kinda pretty, but so not me. Thanks for the draw!

I live in the US…and I haven’t had a chance to try any of The 7 Virtues.

I did recently get a chance to sample the Tom Ford Jasmin Rouge. I wasn’t ever really interested in it so I hadn’t given it a chance. I liked it….not enough to spend the money on it. It reminded me too much of Jessica McClintock EDP. I only paid $10 for that at TJMaxx!

HI Robin: I live in the US, and I haven’t yet tried any of the 7 Virtues fragrances (though this one sounds like a winner to me, between the lime and cedar). The last fragrance I tried was Chanel Coco Noir, which I liked (!!); admittedly, I do not like many truly “dark” perfumes :)

Thanks, Robin! I haven’t tried anything from this line but I’m very curious I just got my split of Mona di Orio Oud, which i love– it’s all warm and oily and thick, and reminds me why I liked our in the first place.

Hello! I live in the US and have not tried any of the 7 Virtues perfumes, though they have piqued my interest. The last perfume I tried was Serge Lutens Santal Majescule, lovely and cozy for a chill rainy day like today!
