Seems more like his take on an attar blend. I was not impressed with Santal de Mysore because it didnt seem to feature the sandalwood to my nose. I hope this one is more focused on wood. I did like Bois Sepia, but why does it have to be so much more expensive than his other fragrances?

Hard to say if it’s a take on an attar w/o smelling it…but you could be right! Look forward to smelling it.

Might be interesting. Got a SL newsletter information about this one. Will sample once it arrives to Poland.

I’ll sample it as soon as it gets to the US…we’ll probably both have a good long wait.

Much possible, too bad. But Amouage Interlude is already here! Should I order a sample?

You should order two samples, and then send me one!

If I could do it then I would, but the boutique does not allow multiple samples of the same fragrance. I think I’ll order it along with few more I wanted to try lately.

I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT.

I’ve got a full bottle of Santal Blanc and a big decant of Santal de Mysore, and while Lutens has his missteps, he does amazing things with woods. I have no doubt at all that this will be gorgeous, even if the sandalwood is mostly synthetic.

I love Santal Blanc. The Mysore isn’t me. Agree, he knows his woods, look forward to trying this.

Santal de Mystore reminds me so much of an old-school take on sandalwood, like an old soap or cologne.

This could go so right or so wrong, and it probably will depend upon the sweetness. If the spiced cocoa accord is rich without being too sweet this could be very nice. Going sweet could make this cloying. Let’s hope SL gets his mojo back.

Do you feel like he has lost his mojo?

Yes, starting around L’Eau which did not at all live up to the elaborate pre-release press campaign – the nonperfume, the scent of an empty room, etc. Seemed a bit of a joke at the collectors expense, why not just say you are making a commercially acceptable L’Eau. Likewise other releases since the handsome Fille En Augilles have been spotty – esp Bas de Soie, Vitriol d’Oeillet – even Jeux de Peux didn’t have a Sergey oomph IMO. Feel like the line is coasting a bit b/c these types of releases need a few new heavy hitters interspersed to maintain the Lutens aura. Otherwise he’s just Hermes without the cute leather cases.

Got to sniff this today at Barney’s in SF! Just on the strip, though, and it smelled like it needed skin. Opens with the sandalwood to the woordy cuminy side as in santal de mysore and then immediately segues into Uncle Serge stew. The cocoa read syrupy to me–almost imortelle. I wasn’t that interested, frankly and went on to smell a few other things, but I was still holding the strip in my hand and accidentally went back to it–whoa! The rose had bloomed, a dark one, and it was gorgeous in the middle of the stew. Definitely coming back around to this one to try it on skin with my full attention.

Ah, interesting, thanks Alyssa! Sounds like one I want to try but won’t need to buy.

Good news? The denouement is what makes me keep coming back to Lutens.

Sandalwood, cocoa, and rose? I can’t afford a full bottle but a sample sounds like it’s in order.
