Donna Karan Cashmere Mist Pearl Essence ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 20 June 2012 18 Comments

Donna Karan Cashmere Mist Pearl Essence

Donna Karan has launched Cashmere Mist Pearl Essence, a new limited edition flanker to 1994's Cashmere Mist.

The pearl is a feminine symbol of art and spirituality; however flawless, no two are alike. This new fragrance collection layers the satin luster of the rare Tahitian Pearl against the warm, sensuality of Cashmere.

The notes include tiare, ylang ylang, neroli, jasmine, sandalwood and musk.

Donna Karan Cashmere Mist Pearl Essence is available in 50 ml Eau de Parfum, and can be found now at Macy's for $78. Matching body products are also available.

I do love the notes, albeit rather conventional. However, like music, a creative combination of notes may produce a new and interesting composition, but will this fragrance live up to its image? Lovely bottle.

I really don’t love the original at all, but this one does sound different — might have to give it a shot.

Since pearls don’t actually have a scent, at least not by the time they have been removed from the oyster and turned into jewelry, I assume this is some variation of Cashmere’s wooly musk with gardenia over it.

I have not tried the original Cashmere, but I suppose they’re referring to the feeling or image pearls project and not the actual scent. To me, it translates to sleek, lustrous, cool and luxurious.

Hoping it has “less” of the original….

I ended up buying the last couple flankers (Luxe and Liquid Nude) and the addition of tropical florals sounds nice. My Macy’s SA turned me on to the original Cashmere Mist when I picked up a tester of the edp and found something mildly off-putting about it. She gave me the edt tester and it was actually really nice with great lasting power. It is a nice fragrance to wear to bed on chilly evenings, and Liquid Nude is a lovely take on woody musk. I can’t wait to try this one.

Everyone loved one of those, was it the Luxe or the Liquid Nude? Can’t remember now.

I really liked Liquid Nude, but I don’t know if that was the one everyone else liked.

    The bottle is hideous.

But far less reminiscent of a men’s room urinal than the original bottle and previous flankers, no?

I’ve never liked it, but hope that pearlised gray looks better in person than it does in the picture.

I loved the original Cashmere Mist and will try this one too.

The bottle looks like it was made for Avon Cosmetics though. Or like some aristocratic dog’s turd

The color doesn’t look appealing, but is probably better in person.

The bottle could’ve been a lot better done.

I just smelled this on a scent strip from Oprah mag August issue. I love Cashmere Mist, but something about this smells like Tabu. It’s not terrible, but I wouldn’t buy it. The extra flowers in this make it kind of a ‘heavy’ scent that is not fresh and woody and soft like the original.
