Bunch o’ limited edition collector bottles 2012, part 11

Posted by Robin on 14 June 2012 20 Comments

More limited edition collector fragrance bottles, with the usual disclaimers: in most of these cases, the juice is unchanged, just the bottle is “special” (or not, as the case may be), and some of these may not be available in the US.

 Illamasqua Freak Extrait De Parfum

From Illamasqua, a limited edition Parfum version of their Freak fragrance: "British beauty brand Illamasqua is launching the limited edition Freak Extrait De Parfum today. Presented in a gold bottle, the fragrance contains top notes of black davana, opium flower and belladonna, heart notes of poison hemlock, datura and queen of the night blossom, while the basenotes include frankincense, oud and myrrh." £75 for 75 ml Extrait De Parfum (via diarydirectory)

Lacoste Eau de Lacoste L.12.12 Blanc, Olympics special edition

From Lacoste, a special edition of Eau de Lacoste L.12.12 Blanc to celebrate this year's Olympics (the bottle says "celebrate the beauty of the game". In 100 ml Eau de Toilette. (via shop-fr.lacoste)

 Davidoff Champion Time for Champions

Also for the Olympics, a limited edition box (the bottle is the same) of Davidoff Champion: "Fly the flag for Britain with the Davidoff Champion Time for Champions Eau de Toilette, a limited edition version of the adrenaline-fuelled sports fragrance with packaging featuring the union Jack." In 90 ml Eau de Toilette, available at Escentual in the UK.

Voyage d'Hermès Edition Blanche

From Hermès, Voyage d'Hermès in a white edition (shown above left), in refillable 35 ml travel size, Eau de Toilette concentration, €61 at Nocibe in France.

Robert Piguet Visa with Swarovski crystals

From Robert Piguet, a limited edition liter (yep, a whole liter) of Visa with Swarovski crystals (you may remember they did this bottle for Fracas as well). £8,500 at Harrods in the UK.

The only one of these I remotely like is Freak, and even that I think is better in the black original bottle.

That Piguet is off the hook… and not in a good way.

I like the black Freak better too…but can only assume this is a stronger fragrance? Freak was REALLY light on me. Hardly noticeable.

Huh. I agree with you about the bottle but I found the juice overpoweringly strong (not a good thing in this case at all).

Me, too. VERY strong very screechy.
And of course, it took two full days to completely get off my skin.
I adore the bottle, though, so no regrets. Don’t care for this gold one, and I most assuredly do NOT need the extrait version of this!

I must be anosmic to something they’re using then…it’s really terribly light on me.

I’ve grown to like Freak, the first smell I hardly detected anything.

but I got a sample at the Illamasqua store one time and now I smell a lot more. though I agree it’s not that strong at all.

I nearly bought Freak aswell, I’m glad I waited it out because I can’t wait to try this! and I’ll buy it if I like it.

That little snail on the Freak bottle is so cute – does the black bottle have that too? Never noticed. Of course, I now have to Google.

Beats me! Maybe people will be fooled into thinking the bottle is different too.

I thought that was really odd, too, since most people would throw the box away. But maybe it’s just to attract people in the store who wouldn’t have any idea what the original looks like – just hitching their wagon to the big event, I guess. Does seem kind of stingy, though!

I’ve never tried Freak, but £75 (round about $120) for 75 mL of extrait? They’re practically giving it away. (The EDP is £57.) I may have to get a sample.

It’s not a bad price, if you can smell it.

If I were going to spend spend thousands of pounds on one bottle of perfume, it would be one of the those Xerjoff bottles cut out of rutilated quartz or amethyst, for sure. (Yeah, I’m just one of those kids who had a mineral collection!)

The Hermes is very chic in white. And I also prefer the original Freak bottle – in gold it’s very gaudy.

I have to confess I inhaled a bit loudly when I saw the gold Freak bottle, but I ultimately prefer the black one.
The little white Izod bottle is cute,.

Sorry to write totally off topic but I had a question. I flew to Greece last week and had a stop in Cairo. The price of Amouage at the airport seems to be about 150 Euros. If I have money on the way back, in a weeks time, I was considering a splurge on Epic… Am I right in thinking this is a very good price? Thanks for any help!

Full retail price for a 50 ml of Epic Woman is 205 euros — don’t know what the best discount price is in the US though.
