Diane von Furstenberg Sunny Diane ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 17 May 2012 17 Comments

Diane von Furstenberg Sunny Diane

Diane von Furstenberg has launched Sunny Diane, a new followup to 2011's Diane by Diane von Furstenberg:

A lighter take on our signature fragrance DIANE, Sunny is radiant, carefree and crisp. A fresh mix of sparkling citrus, sun-drenched frangipani blossoms and a faint hint of violet is emboldened by a tinge of musk. Bright, glamorous and magnetic, Sunny is the ultimate Summer accessory.

Additional notes include mandarin, sea breeze accord and driftwood.

Diane von Furstenberg Sunny Diane is available in 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

Sunny Déja Vu. Tried this last month and demanded a full sample in addition to drowning myself in it. It does start bright, citrusy and summery like a mix of Sea and Sun in Cadaques, then turns bitter and soapy in the middle notes, and then … it disappears.

Presumably by then you are considered to be too far from the store to go back and return it, or ecstatically demand to buy it, whichever your case may be. Hopefully the second :-)

Sorry, meant to say a mix of Sea and Sun in Cadaques and Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Soleil. :-D

Well, that sounds better than I expected! I didn’t much care for the “regular” Diane.

It is better than the regular Diane – which isn’t much of a compliment – in a generic, quality air-freshener way. If that makes sense.

It does, and that takes care of that!

I am one of the few who LOVES regular Diane. I am itching to try this — are any bricks & mortar places carrying it? The original was Sephora-only initially, but I don’t see them stocking this flanker yet.

One of the few? I thought Diane was well done and assumed it would have a lot of fans …

I’ve seen mostly mediocre reviews and comments from folks who tried it with high hopes but came away disappointed. I also found a gift set (body lotion + 50ml edp) at Marshall’s for $30 — if it was really doing well, would it show up at a discounter so quickly? I would so happy to have interpreted this incorrectly, though — if Diane finds a wide audience it will hopefully be around a while!

I see that Sunny is available in the US through the dvf website (and presumably through her boutiques?), but I was hoping for the convenience of a Sephora/Ulta/dept store release so I could try without making a day trip of it.

Sephora stocks it still. Luckily, no one else does because of an exclusivity clause.

There was a very positive review on 1000 Fragrances.

It’s very like Octavian to like this one.

I am not at all sure that it’s in the US yet….assuming it is even coming here.

I very much liked the original Diane… I don’t know if I liked it quite enough to buy it. Let’s put it this way, if I found a rollerball in it, I’d find it hard to pass up.

I tried the original Diane, hoping for true love as I very much admire the deisgner herself. Sadly, I didn’t much care for it – just sort of “meh” for me, kind of artificial. I’ll try this when I see it, certainly, and hope for a better experience.

Yeah, that was my take on Diane too.

I think they announced it at the same time they released the regular…if that helps any, which it might not :-)
