More limited edition collector fragrance bottles, with the usual disclaimers: in most of these cases, the juice is unchanged, just the bottle is “special” (or not, as the case may be), and some of these may not be available in the US.
Not a special bottle, really, but a gift with purchase worth knowing about: Byredo's Seven Veils fragrance sold with a limited edition scarf designed in collaboration with M/M Paris. There are seven different designs, and 25 scarves done in each. At Barneys, $430. (via style.com)
From Guerlain, L’Ame d’un Héros (the new name for what used to be called Coriolan) in new limited edition packaging. $245 for 125 ml Eau de Toilette, at Neiman Marcus.
From Cerruti, Cerruti 1881 in a limited edition celebrating the brand's 120th anniversary. A ticket inside the box gives you a chance to win a tie (500 prizes) or a trip to Paris for a bespoke suit (5 prizes). (via cerruti1881fragrances, found via lexpress.fr)
From Yves Saint Laurent, the Elle 2012 limited edition (I'm sorry but I don't know if they change the juice from year to year; you can see last year's here): "This Limited Edition Elle perfume from Yves Saint Laurant opens with tender peony, enlightened by the dazzling freshness of mandarin and grapefruit. At the heart, a burst of jasmine sambac, enhanced with red berries and a fruity note of raspberry, brings great sensuality. Addictive amber spreads through the base with a woody accord of vetiver, softened by the balsamic tonality of benzoin." £35 for 90 ml Eau de Toilette at Selfridges in the UK.
This Guerlain, L’Ame d’un Héros looks great
Agree, the bottle is perfect!
Re: L’Ame d’un Heros, the move toward these new Parisiens bottles are a sore spot for me, they seem a step-down from the previous bee bottles. I guess the move is to butch up the packaging for younger men who might feel less secure buying a pretty bee bottle?
I loved the design of the Lupin bottles *until* I saw the garish and somewhat incongruous art deco writing on the side. And now it seems like a cost saver, once they have the design, to extend it to all the Parisiens. They also are kind of cheap-looking in person. :/
To be fair, this one (L’Ame) is the prettiest of the bunch with the light writing on the natural wood; the “pink” on black wood Derby is tough to accept. Le sigh, Guerlain!
(Also, pretty sure these are now 100 ml like the Lupins.)
Huh, interesting. Could be, but they’re also using that bottle shape for some of their other “special projects” for both genders. I’m guessing it’s also cheaper to make than the bee bottle?
I guess I’m assuming the wood frame reads as more masculine – and you’re probably right about it being cheaper than the bee one.
Yes, the wood frame is more masculine, but guessing they are moving to put all their side project series in that bottle for other reasons -> like it’s cheaper, and also possibly more appealing to those who are used to niche packaging as opposed to vintage packaging.
Did I mention I like the LE Byredo?
I do like that M/M scarf for Byredo, but for $430 I’d rather have the fragrance with a plane ticket to Stockholm inside where Ben Gorham will pick me up at the airport and take me out for a night on the town. 😀
LOL! That might cost (even) more.
