Rocks by Original Penguin ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 30 April 2012 4 Comments

Rocks by Original Penguin

Perry Ellis-owned American clothing brand Original Penguin has launched Rocks by Original Penguin for men, a follow-up to their eponymous fragrance introduced last fall:

ROCKS by Original Penguin opens with a refreshing blend of crisp apple and Italian bergamot. The heart of the scent, composed of lavender, clary sage, and cypress tonic, seamlessly transcends into a warm, dry down of sun bleached woods, brushed suede, tonka bean, and sandalwood. Original Penguin may have made its mark in the 1950s, but it continues to live on today. This aromatic, woody oriental fragrance is the perfect blend of heritage, wit and style.

Rocks by Original Penguin can be found now at Dillards, in 50 or 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

The opening notes dont appeal to me, but everything else sound very nice. I’m going to have to stop by the mall on my lunch break to sample this today.

I did and was actually surprised at it enough that I’ll probably pick up at least a 50ml. As i guessed, I did NOT like the screechy bergamot opening but it was gone in 15 minutes and turned into something wonderful. It’s 4 hours later and it’s settled into the base of the tonka, sandalwood, & some of the lavender left over. It’s borderline gourmand to my nose and I’m happy to find another mens mass market that I look forward to either myself or the husband wearing. In my Dillard’s the 100 ml was $65 & the 50ml $50.
