Annick Goutal Nuit Etoilee ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 2 March 2012 22 Comments

Annick Goutal Nuit Étoilée

Annick Goutal will launch Nuit Étoilée (starry night), a new unisex fragrance, this spring.

Nuit Étoilée is a spicy woody aromatic, and was developed by perfumer Isabelle Doyen; notes feature sweet orange, Siberian pine, balsam fir, tonka bean, citron and peppermint.

Annick Goutal Nuit Étoilée launches in May; I'll update with sizes and concentration when I can.

Update: Annick Goutal Nuit Étoilée is available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

Another update: see a review of Annick Goutal Nuit Étoilée.

    Sigh. Pretty bottle.

I think I like AG “masculines” (one of which this appears to be) even more than the “feminines”.

I probably like more of their unisex offerings too – would have to sit & count to be sure though.

I was about to post pretty much exactly the same thing as unseencenser – AG’s more unisex offerings tend to appeal more to me and that packaging is so very pretty!

Looks like a perfect shade of blue, but still like the Mandragore purple better :-)

perfect blue indeed! Notes sound interesting, except for the peppermint, which kind of scares me, but definitely worth a try

I am also wary of the peppermint, but otherwise it does sound promising. Ditto-ing what everyone else has said about the bottle color and the unisex AGs.

Minty notes make me leery, too, Bee but I liked the menthol overcast of “Alien” in how it really conjured-up the idea of a night sky. But I’m going to second, Alete, again here: Won’t the mint, fir and orange notes be very reminiscent of Winter holidays? Kind of odd, for a Spring release, isn’t it?

The colour of Mandragore Pourpre bottle is my favourite and it’s also the only AG that I like enough to own a FB so it worked out rather nicely for me :D There’s a touch of mint in that also and it works quite well, I find.

I know I definitely want a bottle for the cerulean color alone.

I guess I like the feminines more, but their “masculines” seem to be more daring. Eau du Fier anyone?
Will have to smell this, AG being probably my favourite fragrance house.

I’m so excited about this one! The notes sound unique – what I expect from a niche line. I can’t think of any other perfume with peppermint in the notes. But then, I haven’t been “at this” as long as many of you :)

I usually don’t like mint on my skin but peppermint might work. I didn’t realize there was that big a difference until I went to make mint icing for cupcakes. On the first batch of icing, I used mint. flavoring. Awful. On the second batch I used peppermint flavoring. Delicious. Of course, maybe the scents are not quite the same as the flavors?
And, oh, that bottle looks beautiful!

There are actually several fragrances that have peppermint as one of their notes, here are some AG Mandragore, CDG Sherbert Peppermint, PdN L’eau Mixte, L’Artisan The pour un ete. When we hear peppermint I think we automatically think of a minty smell while really the leaves of the peppermint plant smell more herbal to me. I definitely want to try this AG as i have not had much luck with any of the others.

What is with AG and mint?! Please get over it. I have smelled a few AG scents..all open with a mint. Please AG, drop the mint notes! This sounded ok till I read the mint note. Nope. Beautiful bottle though.

Really? I have several AGs and have never noticed any mint. Songes, Gardenia Passion, Rose Splendide, Le Mimosa… Are they “unisexes”, do you think, that have mint? (I could well imagine it in Matin d’Orage but never noticed it… now I have to go check.)

I don’t think any of the ones you mention have mint.

Hmm, pretty bottle but the eau de Christmas tree may be a deal breaker for me.

I find Annick Goutal all too well-behaved and soft for me. Nuits D’Hadrien is lovely and Ninfeo Mio would be nice if amped up but basically I’d have to overlay 3 different AG fragrances to get a note that makes a statement.

Gasp! Balsam and tonka bean! Misty, blue bottle and starry skies! I hope this is as moody and melodramatic as it seems to be. For some reason, I get the impression it will remind me of a less animalic “Jicky”, mixed with “Absolutely Irresistible” (the red bottle). Don’t know why. Maybe it’s the tonka bean, citrus and herbaceous fir notes.

(p.s. I know, Aleta — fir and orange? Is it going to smell like a holiday pomander?)
