Van Cleef & Arpels Aqua Oriens ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 23 February 2012 18 Comments

Van Cleef & Arpels Aqua Oriens

Van Cleef & Arpels will launch Aqua Oriens in April. The new limited edition fragrance for women is a flanker to 2010's Oriens, and hopes to "evoke a dip in a Tahitian lagoon".

Aqua Oriens was developed by perfumer Nathalie Feisthauer; notes include pear, lime, honeysuckle, orange blossom, musk and amber.

Van Cleef & Arpels Aqua Oriens will be available in 50 ml Eau de Toilette.

If that bottle looks this amazing in-person I might just have to buy it no matter what the juice smells like. Beautiful!

I did not love the Oriens bottle so much in person, but many people did! This looks like same bottle, different color.

I agree with Robin, the bottle was a total disappointment in real life – plasticky and cheap looking.

The bottle in the photo is stunning… turquoise is my favourite colour… although, to me, the ingredients doesnt conjure up the sense of the blue-green Tahitian lagoon… except maybe for the pear that is kind of watery… and maybe the citrus evokes the cool feeling of water on the skin as u dive in… we will see in april!

I agree, the bottle’s a stunner. Here’s hoping the perfume inside proves worthy of it.

Another gorgeous package with no brains.

Maybe in 5 years I can find a half-used bottle on ebay.

    Must

    have

    that

    bottle

    AAaaaaAAAAaaargh!!!!

Somebody hide my credit card please!!!!

Only joking, the original Oriens bottle looks chunky and – someone will slap me for this – c*h*e*a*p, considering its illustrious provenance.

    You realize this, don’t you?

A long time ago they used to make good fragrance

Then fragrance started going south, but bottles were gorgeous

Now bottles get average, fragrances are even worse, but the picture of the bottle is great.

How much more virtual can fragrance get?

Yes, in real life the original did look extra-plastc-y….

If I had liked the original; I would have bought it because I agree-the bottles are great. The juice was decent, just not a real keeper,

I should have the bottle mounted as a ring. bling bling. My first thought, my second thought is ooh lime! One of my least favorite notes. Lime, unless it’s blended well, reminds me of cheap men’s fragrance….go figure.
The notes maybe be simple, but doesn’t that depend on how artfully they are blended? I love Annick Goutal’s Petite cheri, and it only has pear, rose, and musk.
The color of the bottle does make you want to dive in doesn’t it?

Hmm. Oddly, it looks like a gem-topped interpretation of Pucci’s “Vivara” bottle. The notes even read similarly, too. With a litle “Missoni aqua” thrown in. Still looks enticing, though (and I loved “Vivara”, anyway).

    OH MY GOD THAT BOTTLE.

Sorry. It’s out of my system now.

A dip in a Tahitian lagoon–what exactly do leeches smell like? Pear, lime and honeysuckle–ahhh, VC+A’s own interpretation of fruity floral. And while I’m being cranky, the bottle look lumpy to me. But I gotta love a bottle that matches my thighs.

LOL Are your thighs aqua with crystal? Don’t forget the orange blossom, musk and amber. I hope they didn’t list some kind of watery note- otherwise it simply makes no sense does it?
