Guerlain Homme L’Eau Boisee ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 1 February 2012 17 Comments

Guerlain Homme L’Eau Boisée

Guerlain has launched Guerlain Homme L’Eau Boisée, a new aromatic woody citrus flanker to 2010's Guerlain Homme L'Eau (itself a flanker to 2008's Guerlain Homme).

The inspiration for this new interpretation of Guerlain Homme L’EAU, overdosed with vetiver, is drawn from [perfumer] Thierry Wasser’s journey in Southern India.

He encountered a new kind of vetiver essence on the highlands overlooking the city of Coimbatore. Those of Java and Haïti were already known, but that of India was a first... It was therefore the opportunity to bring a new activity to the local population based on a rational and eco-friendly culture, that enabled Guerlain to use this exceptional new type of vetiver.

In Guerlain Homme L’Eau Boisée, it reveals itself powerful and of the utmost chic.

Guerlain Homme L’Eau Boisée is available in 80 ml Eau de Toilette, at John Lewis in the UK.

    WHY.

There’s no doubt that It will be compared with Vetiver family heavily.

They really should overdose on vetiver on this new one to compensate the damage they’ve done to Guerlain Vetiver wich once was an excellent vetiver frag.

True enough. Still, a modern vetiver is welcome too, if it’s really good.

Huuum, I’ll have to try this one. Guerlain Homme has an excellent oppening, but the base isn’t one of my favorites, despite I like powedery; there something there that annoys me. Beautiful bottle, kinda vintage.

Tried this one. L’Eau Boisee is what the regular Guerlain Homme had to be from its first appearance. They added in the original minty lime formula a handful of pepper from MJ Bang and earthy woodiness of Terre d’Hermes (ISO E Super?). So in the dry down we get a dryer version of Terre d’Hermes, or something similar to last year’s masterpiece David Beckham Homme, but with a mochito background. Surely this one is the best Guerlain release by Thierry Wasser. The longevity is brilliant.

Oh no you didn’t. That DOES sound amazing. lol

The only bottle I didn’t own in your review, is the beckham one. Gosh I really need to try this one out. Did not expect Bang to appear in the review at all!

The bottle, which I like, reminds me of the Cereus line.

I haven’t tried either Homme or Homme L’Eau (I don’t remember even seeing that at the Guerlain counter at NM last weekend, though I wasn’t looking for it). I guess I’d sniff it if I came across it. I have to say that I think Dandy is one of the best men’s launches from Guerlain in a long time — I’m toying with picking up a bottle sometime. I hope it sticks around.

Tried Dandy at Guerlain boutique as well. Wow that’s something I’d never think of. That’s something we’d call creation.

Bitter chic, as I would put it that way.

I just hope it won’t be a vetiver bomb, with earthy, dirty vetiver…

I like but I am not a big fan of Guerlain Homme.

I usually love Boisée parfum so I will test this during the week end!

    Bottle’s very cool!

Why would Guerlain bring out their best bottle design in decades for a flanker?

Ive never seen any of the Guerlain Homme flankers in actual brick and mortar stores in the US, so probably wont have any shot at trying this one either.

I received my L’eau Boisee from the UK 2 weeks ago. I am not disappointed! What a wonderful fragrance, this completes my Homme line, I have the original, Intense, L’eau and now Boisee.
I just don’t understand the negativity towards these fragrances, they are well crafted, especially the original I’m on my second bottle. The vetiver dominates Boisee, but it’s a vetiver fragrance, so if you want vetiver, go for it. The key is to spritz and walk into it, don’t beam it to the skin, it’s strong, projects well and lasts throughout the day. When I smell a fragrance and don’t agree, I find myself saying “god” with sarcasm. This is far from it. I wear it at the office. L’eau on casual weekends and Homme intense in the evening, intense mainly in the fall where it hovers around 60 in Georgia. I’m a happy camper! : )

I have the same problem with this Boisee that I had with the original. So much… lime. Some people say this or the original is great for the summer. I’ve finished the original and I don’t think it’s strong, but it’s so “pungent”. It burns a little almost. Anyways, I was happy to see they’ve added some woodiness maybe. So I tried this one. Might be because the original is etched into my brain, but it was like spraying the old bottle really. The dry down is different, better. But same opening as the original… screaming lime.
