I am so delighted and grateful, and perhaps the slightest bit guilty; because I am sure there are many people out there who have a favorite Tauer perfume and would give an arm and a leg for a bottle, and I have never even sniffed a single Tauer scent. Nevertheless, I am beyond excited! Can anybody give me any suggestions as to what I may like? I have been perusing the Tauer website and reading reviews all over the web, and am leaning toward one of the roses or perhaps Miriam. I like my fragrances to be decidedly feminine. For instance, I had a bottle of Hermes Jardin Sir Le Nil, which I found quite beautiful but just could not wear. It was just too masculine and the cedar annoyed me greatly. My current two favorite perfumes are Coco Mademoiselle and Stella by Stella McCartney. I also love Chanel 5 eau premiere, the original No. 5 I like and admire but not enough plunk down a great deal of money for.
I recently tried a sample of Gucci Accenti and I do NOT like that type of fragrance.
Can anybody tell me if Miriam is at all like Chanel no 5 eau premiere or much more like the original no 5? I have seen it compared to no. 5 in many reviews.

I don’t know any of Tauer’s too, but from the fragrance info and reviews I’d go for Pentachord Auburn or L’Air Du Desert Marocain.
But that would be my choice.

      Choose wisely 😉 good luck

I have tried nearly all the Tauers. I would say if you like No. 5 Eau Premiere, you are likely to like Miriam. I am like you – I love Eau Premiere and appreciate No. 5, but something about original No. 5 just doesn’t quite fit me, while I would readily buy a bottle of Eau Premiere. And I love Miriam. I liked it much more the more I wore it – I probably only have one or two wearings left.

If you like Coco Mademoiselle and Stella, you *might* also like Une Rose Vermeille – it’s a sweet, lovely raspberry rose.

So far I have not made a full bottle purchase from Tauer, but if I were going to, here is what I would order, in order of preference:

      1. Reverie au Jardin
      2. Miriam
      3. Orange Star
      4. Une Rose Vermeille
      5. Carillon Pour Un Ange

As you may gather, I tend toward florals. I do also very much like his Lonestar Memories, but it doesn’t quite rank up with my top 5 and it is rather masculine.

You also might consider economics – look at the scents you’re most interested in and see which one is most expensive and would be hardest to buy on your own. If I were in your place, I might consider Miriam since I know I like it and it’s more expensive than my other top faves.

Finally, no need to apologize for winning – we all have to start somewhere! XD

      Congratulations on your win!

Mirium definately has a vintage vibe like the original #5, but I find that i has a more powdery drydown. I’d say it’s more similar in feel rather than in scent…. it feels “vintagey.” If you like powdery scents (think baby powder even) then Mirium might work for you – I really like Mirium and I really like #5 in all it’s formulations.

If you like rose, the Une Rose Vermille is ver y nice – bright and fruity (raspberry). I’m not a rose or “fruity” fan and still really like this one. It’s one of the few roses I wear.

Zeta is my favorite – it’s a light fresh floral – think springime when everything is in bloom.

Good luck choosing – hope you love it!

    So jealous! But congrats!
I guess it depends on how masculine or feminine you want. Top femme pick for me is Miriam (I’m totally obsessed with it), and top masc pick is L’Air Du Desert Marocain (though Lonestar Memories is also amazing). But, honestly, I haven’t smelled a Tauer fragrance I haven’t loved. And if you don’t like it, you can just send it to me!

congrats! I have had the chance to samples several (not all) of the Taurer scents. Will second the Une Rose Vermeille, as I am a fan of scents like FM Lipstick Rose and Stella. Haven’t tried Miriam though!

    Good Luck in your decision!

Thank-you so much to everybody who has commented, you have been very helpful!
I pretty much narrowed it down to either Miriam or Vermeille Rose, with Rose Vermeille being the leader. But your comments, breathesgelatin, have the pendulum swinging towards Miriam.
I generally do not like fruity-florals, at least the celebrity scent types that are all over the place, but am I correct in thinking that Rose Vermeille is not “that” kind of fruity-floral? I believe Geurlain Insolence has notes of rose, violet, and raspberry, and I like it, but do not think of it as a fruity floral. How does Rose Vermeille compare to that?
@carcosa, I will keep that in mind 😉

Une Rose Vermeille is definitely not a typical fruity floral – it definitely DOES have sweetness, that’s true, but overall I would characterize it as more of a cosmetics-type scent. I have seen a few people say it was too sweet for them, however. It is indeed very rich.

I wish I could compare to Guerlain Insolence – I have smelled that one at a perfume counter before but not enough to get a basis for comparison. =/

I can’t believe no one has recommended Une Rose Chypree! It’s rose-y and feminine and oh-so-snazzy — makes me feel like I’m wearing a mink coat lined with $100 bills. But whatever you choose, congratulations. And if you actually have 5 kids, you deserve all the prizes you can get!

I am considering Une Rose Chypree, not sure I like chypres, tho’.
And yes, I do have 5 kids 🙂 The youngest is 4 yr and the oldest is 13 yr. They are my pride and joy!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Une Rose Chypree, but based on what you’ve said you like, I think you’ll find it overwhelming and too masculine.
