More limited edition collector fragrance bottles, with the usual disclaimers: in most of these cases, the juice is unchanged, just the bottle is “special” (or not, as the case may be), and some of these may not be available in the US.
No, your eyes don't deceive you, and yes, it's true, it isn't really a collector bottle. But so far, we haven't seen the need to maintain a separate category for toy trucks, and hey, we have to post about it somewhere. From Kim Kardashian, the Kim Kardashian Tractor Trailer: "1/32 scale tractor trailer (approximately 23 inches long) with Kim Kardashian Fragrance graphics. This model is the perfect addition to your collection, a perfect gift idea for fans of Kim Kardashian. This truck can be proudly displayed on a desk or shelf." $100 at the Kim Kardashian site. (hat tip to jonr951, and by the way, if anyone knows why this item exists, I beg of you, please don't tell me)
Two solid perfume compacts from Estee Lauder. At left, the Beautiful Luck Elephant Solid by Jay Strongwater: "A limited-edition collectible, this lucky elephant with shimmering stones has its trunk up for a life of good fortune. Open the compact to find Beautiful in long-lasting solid perfume." $295. At right, the Youth Dew Gold Coin Solid: "Give the gift of prosperity with this golden collectible compact, topped with an ancient Emperor. The coin opens to reveal captivating Youth-Dew in long-lasting solid perfume." $89. Both at Neiman Marcus.
From Cartier, a limited edition bottle of Eau de Cartier. In 100 ml Eau de Toilette, €64 at Marionnaud in France.
From Marc Jacobs, the Daisy Hot Pink edition. "The choice of colour echoes the vibrant hues and bold statements of the designer’s runway shows." It is reportedly a "richer" variation on the original fragrance. In 100 ml Eau de Parfum. (via moodiereport)
From Givenchy, their new Dahlia Noir fragrance in a Baccarat bottle: "Givenchy called upon Baccarat to create an exceptional bottle made entirely of crystal. This exquisite numbered limited edition item comes in a black lacquered gift case with mirror plated interior panels. This work of are [sic] is a true olfactory keepsake." $1500 in an unknown concentration and quantity (does it really matter?) and available for pre-order at Neiman Marcus.
Many people collect toy trucks, particularly the annual Hess Christmas truck. (This was a complete shock to me when I met such a collector, I assumed the Hess trucks were simply cool toys for kids). Now as to whether Hess truck fans are Kim fans…
Oh wait, you said you did not want to know why that thing existed.
The Mark Jacobs bottle is cute.
My son collects the Hess trucks, and we love them…they’re well made and they light up & make noises & do things & they’re great fun. And they don’t cost $100! I look forward to the next one nearly as much as he does.
This ain’t no Hess truck 😉
Thanks – finally a fragrance gift I can tell one and all I don’t want for Christmas.
LOL!
Is the Marc Jacobs out yet?
I don’t really know…I haven’t seen it, online or off, but that doesn’t mean much. Sorry!
Just seen it launches August 24. I’ll have to pick it up. Love the hot pink daisies.
Good, thanks for letting us know!
But how the heck do you get the top off?
I saw the life-sized Kim Kardashian semi crusing down I-80 the other day as I was heading for the bridge that crosses over the Mississippi from Iowa to Illinois. I literally said outloud “Oh no she d’in’t!” lol Then I wondered if that truck was filled entirely with KK fragrance…and if there was an accident and truck-spill if the DOT would shut down I-80 for a toxic waste spill. 😛 Just kidding. I actually kinda like her fragrance.
Ok, can’t even tell if the whole thing is kidding. Does she have a real semi? And if so, why?
Perhaps she, (or Arden, or whatever company actually produces her licensed product) just buys the ad space on the truck. Otherwise, I would not think of her as being the sort of business which has so many deliveries as to need a fleet of semis. (She, is not, for instance the Shop Rite grocery chain).
I can just imagine the independent trucker who owns this vehicle, chatting to his/her buds at the Mega Truck Stop off I-70:
“Yeah, I bust, my butt (literally- I hope they’re not out of stock on the Prep-H at the counter here) 28 days a month on this Mid-west route. That’s why I got the bunk at the back of the cab and I shower more at these darned truck stops than I do back in my house. Still, I’m a Kim fan all the way. No way, I’d buy a bronzer without checking out what she uses. In fact, I buy her fragrances to soak my little pine cut out air freshner dangling from my rear view mirror.”
I think you might be right with the licensing. But if it’s not filled with KK merch, what is in it??? And I can see the imagined truck-stop convo taking place at the “World’s Largest Truck Stop” in Walcott, Iowa, about 30 miles away from where I saw this truck. 😛
Does it have one of those hazardous waste placards on the side? It should.
It looks like an ad for a soft-core porn movie. Yuck
Oooohhhh! I’m going to have to call my friend who works at Neiman Marcus to see if he can score me that EL “Alexander” coin with Youth Dew. That is so cool!
Isn’t that pretty?
I am such a magpie. lol
Me, too. I don’t even like Youth-Dew but that is a killer object. And it’s much more respectably priced than the usual Lauder solids (although in fairness they are generally fairly complex).
They have actually impressed me when I’ve seen (most of) them in person. Neiman Marcus always has the primo ones.
Go for it!
I proudly embrace my inner-crow. 🙂 Love all things shiny….
I knew I could count on you to support my “ohhh shiny!” obsession. lol
I think the EL solids are cute (for the most part), and have worn Youth Dew for quite a while, this item is going on my Christmas wish list for sure!
Youth Dew is wonderful in the drydown, I get a lovely spicy resin, and I love that I get to wear it nearly year round.
EL often does the most gorgeous collectible compacts. These are no exception. Very nicely done, I think.
So they actually tweaked the juice for ‘Hot Pink’ Daisy – that’s novel. Love the EL compacts. That Givenchy is classically gorgeous, but I never heard of the fragrance before. I can’t keep up. But not that it matters one bit in this case as the price made me gulp. I’m ignoring the KK truck thingy entirely.
It might be novel, I”m not sure — didn’t they already do a limited edition EdP for Daisy? If so, for all I know this is the same as that…wouldn’t surprise me either way!
They did – in the red bottle with black daisies.
Thought so — thanks!
Shiny! Shiny! Lemming!
Estee Lauder’s are such pretty things. If I were a woman I’d go crazy look for them!!! This brand is one that I’m always curious about and hve never seen a bottle in person. I’d be glad If I bumped with Cartier’s anywhere…
Yes, because those pictures of Kim is completely inappropriate for the age group that plays with toy trucks.
I think pictures of one of the most beautiful human beings ever created are always appropriate.
She’s gorgeous…but I’d bet you’re not a parent 😉
I really, really hope the next Kardashian frag is named “Subtle.”
🙂
One sister could call hers Subtle and the other could call hers Demure.
Ooh, I really like the look of the Alexander coin and I love Youth Dew so I may had to indulge. Merry Christmas to me!
That elephant is mighty cute. 🙂
Isn’t he gorgeous! And just perfect with those soft baby blue sparkling eyes. I’m so lucky I dont like Beautiful (or most other Estee Lauder’s)
I’m so lucky to not be a fan of Estee Lauder scents or solids in general….because that lucky elephant is adorable.
Estee Lauder sure knows how to make a perfume compact… that Youth Dew solid is seriously testing my self-control!
So Givenchy will commission an ‘exceptional’ bottle and ask $1,500 for it, but can’t quite manage to proof their ad copy? Hokey dokey.
Nobody proofs ad copy anymore, judging by the number of misspellings, punctuation errors, and grammatical goofs that show up.
I used to be very good at spelling, but spellcheck has totally erased my ability. Although I did catch a typo today where someone using autocorrect had “previous” replaced with “pervious” throughout the document!
What makes makes for special fun when is Robin inserts those needle-sharp little ‘[sics]’ into the copy. Love that.
HA…but I don’t catch everything either! Just today someone used discrete instead of discreet in the ad copy, and I actually repeated it in the comments.
*seized with lust for the two EL compacts, especially the coin one, and for the Givenchy bottle*
I really thought the Kim Kardashian trailer was a promotion for Toddlers and Tiaras.
The only one I would actually want is the Cartier bottle. Very pretty. And actually affordable.
Once again, NST has piqued my curiosity, necessitating a little cruise around the Internet. Apparently, Kim K. has more than one!

I will admit that at times I enjoy low brow humor and that truck reminded me of this song:

The DJ played this at a wedding I attended a few years ago.
Have to say that not for one moment do I believe that is a delivery truck full of Kim Kardashian fragrance. Still, smart advertising I guess.
Hey guys,
I am new around here:).
I would like to try that hot pink Daisy:).
As for the KK, no thanks.
“This model is the perfect addition to your collection”..no it’s not:).
