 John Varvatos Star USA

John Varvatos will launch Star USA, a new fragrance for his men's apparel line of the same name, in September.

Star USA was developed by perfumer Rodrigo Flores-Roux. The fresh woody fragrance features red ginger, juniper berries, cedrat, blue spruce, cardamom, osmanthus, vetiver, belambre and tonka bean.

John Varvatos Star USA will be available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

Oh boy! I love all his men’s fragrances so this is exciting.

I wish he’d come out with a new ladies’ release.

They’ve really done a good job, although so far I like the men’s more than the women’s.

It’s different. I don’t hate it. (So long as it doesn’t turn out to be cheap plastic like the SJP)

Sounds good! (But what is belambre?) I don’t think I’ve smelled his women’s fragrance(s), but have really liked the men’s.

      A Givaudan aromachemical, amber-ish.

Is that supposed to be a cigar holder? I’m confused. But the fragrance does sound nice. And like you, Robin, I like the men’s more than the women’s. He’s only released the one for women, right?

Yes, and it was too sweet for me.

I find myself fascinated by the bottle. Ugly? Absolutely. But the design of it completely piques my interest.

It looks like a cross between a wire-bailed mason jar and one of those cylinders they used to use to send inter-office mail.

Looks like a miniature lantern/flashlight combo that I purchased from REI.
