Halle Berry Reveal the Passion ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 7 June 2011 14 Comments

Halle Berry Reveal the Passion

Halle Berry will launch Reveal the Passion in July. The new fragrance for women is a flanker to last year's Reveal, and is meant to be bolder and more seductive.

Reveal the Passion was developed by perfumer Olivier Gillotin; the notes for the woody floral include bergamot, freesia, apple, champaca, mangosteen, okoume wood, patchouli and musk.

Halle Berry Reveal the Passion will be available in 15 and 30 ml Eau de Parfum. (via cosmoty.de)

Wow. Another one? They are really cranking these Halle Berry perfumes out in really quick succession. The name is kind of odd. Passion by itself is innocuous enough, but THE Passion calls to mind weird religious connotations, I think. I get that you’re probably supposed to think of it as a command, “Reveal the passion!” But it reads, to me, like “Reveal, the Passion”.

This will be #5 since 2009 — not nearly so bad as some! But do agree it’s a terrible name.

Just what I want to smell like, prolonged suffering and martyrdom (in a pink bottle of course!)

LOL! I’m pretty sure my version of purgatory would include pink, a lot of pink!

I’ll try this one. I bought Reveal and was pleasantly surprised at the great vetiver note in it! It dries down to a tropical flower bedded on vetiver on me..not sure why it doesn’t catch more attention but it’s a heck of a lot more interesting on me than Jennifer Anniston’s scent this summer.

Jennifer Aniston’s was not the most interesting in the world, agree. Reveal didn’t grab me, maybe I should give it another shot.

Am I the only one who finds it amusing that Elizabeth Taylor fronted about 5 or 6 fragrances in 25+ years but the newer, younger celebrities/celebutantes seem to crank out a new one every 8-12 months? How are they supposed to be unique and inspirational if they’re churning them out like the fragrance version of the original Ford Motor Co. assembly line?

5 or 6? Elizabeth had 10 fragrances and White Diamonds was making her so much money she didn’t need to make much others. Besides, EVERYONE is churning them out these days. Marc Jacobs is on his 50th Daisy

Have to agree. The industry has changed radically since Taylor was starting out…it is now “normal” to do a fragrance and have the first flanker out 6 months later.

Anne, but would also agree that you can’t expect great fragrances with this pace. Just don’t think it makes sense to pin the blame on the celebrities, who have little enough to do with these decisions anyway.

I like how Coty have previously described it as being “created as the ultimate image of a strong image”.

I think I’m feeling cranky tonight, but I’m irked by “bolder and more seductive.” I guess I’d rather be “bolder and bitchier,” or “bolder and more creative.” I’m sick of all our power being channeled into sexiness! (Of course, this IS the woman who received an academy award and then made ‘Cat Woman!’ Maybe I expect too much?)

Oh, I’d love a little more bold and bitchy in perfumes today. Those powerhouse ’80s scents weren’t afraid to show their claws, and aren’t the ’80s all the rage now?
