Comme des Garcons + Hussein Chalayan Airborne ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 1 June 2011 13 Comments

Hussein Chalayan Airborne perfume

Designer Hussein Chalayan will introduce Airborne, a new fragrance made in collaboration with Comme des Garçons, in July. Airborne is named for Chalayan's 2007 Fall/Winter fashion collection (see this video at YouTube). Chalayan had previously launched a limited edition fragrance in 2005 as part of the Curated by Colette collection.

Airborne is a unisex fragrance; the notes include neroli, lemon, bergamot, lentiscus, juniper berry, incense, musk and cedarwood.

Comme des Garçons + Hussein Chalayan Airborne will be available in 50 ml Eau de Toilette. (via wwd)

I like the sound of this. Lentiscus is in MMM Untitled, think it is quite a green note but I could be wrong. That box looks seriously cute too.

The WWD article was woefully short…hoping we’ll hear more details about the scent before it launches.

I think the greenness of MMM Untitled is mostly galbanum. Lentiscus is another name for mastic resin, which has a sweet, slightly smokey resinous scent.

But yes, this description of the Chalayan/Comme collaboration reminded me right away of Untitled too!

I’m a big fan of Hussein Chalayan.
    I really like the packaging.
I think it sounds nice but didn’t grab me like I had hoped it would.

Doesn’t grab me either, but as I said above, the article was so short I don’t feel like I know much about it.

I feel the same. Chalayan is one of my favorite designers, so of course I HAD to click and find out more, but the scent really doesn’t sound like something I’d be interested in.

Anything by Commes Des Garcons is worth taking notes of.
Thanks for the link to the video. Avant Garde clothes that seem practical! What a concept!

True, they usually do a good job.

Oh no! I can’t afford any more CdG. I have FIVE CdGs, and not more than two of any other brand…

Does it stave off colds if you spritz before a flight?

But seriously, I’ll be curious to try, though it sounds suspiciously like other incense-aromatics-woods creations from the CdG oeuvre. I’m a fan of CdG, of course.

Ha! No, and the original Airborne didn’t work for me either ;-)

Just received the fragrance from the designer himself and I have to say that it is an amazin fragrance for summer. it gets very sensual at the dry-down which is I like the most.
