Bunch o’ limited edition collector bottles 2011, part 4

Posted by Robin on 30 March 2011 37 Comments

More limited edition collector fragrance bottles, with the usual disclaimers: in most of these cases, the juice is unchanged, just the bottle is “special” (or not, as the case may be), and some of these may not be available in the US.

Tom Ford Neroli Portofino

From Tom Ford, a limited edition sea-blue bottle of Neroli Portofino, part of the unisex Neroli Portofino bath collection (Shower Gel, Body Oil, Body Moisturizer, Body Scrub, Bar Soap). "This modern intercontinental version of an iconic fragrance theme perfectly captures the cool breezes, sparkling clear water and lush foliage of the Italian Riviera. Crisp citrus oils and surprising floral notes, balanced with amber undertones, awaken the senses and leave a splashy, yet substantive impression." At Neiman Marcus, $190 for 50 ml or $465 for 250 ml.

Terre d'Hermès flacon H.

From Hermès, the latest special edition of Terre d'Hermès: the flacon H. "Inspired by the Terre d'Hermès bottle's H imprint, an interplay of motifs underlines the strength and architecture of this beautiful masculine object limited edition." In 75 ml Parfum or 100 ml Eau de Toilette, at Holt Renfrew in Canada.

Clinique Happy Summer Spray

From Clinique, Happy Summer Spray in limited edition packaging exclusive to travel retail: "A hint of citrus. A wealth of flowers. A mix of emotions. This light edition just for summer is only available for a limited time. Wear it and be happy." 100 ml Eau de Toilette. (via press release)

Thierry Mugler Womanity Key Collection

From Thierry Mugler, the Womanity Key Collection. The bottle features "an abstract key with enigmatic patterns cut in zamac, embellished with a crystallized Swarovski Elements crystal which adorns Womanity's bottle". In 50 ml refillable bottle with pouch. 69€. (via mugler)

Ferragamo Incanto Bloom solid perfume compact

From Salvatore Ferragamo, a solid perfume compact in the Incanto Bloom fragrance. Not sure if this one is limited edition or not, but most solid compacts are so if you want it, I'd get it sooner rather than later. "This charming solid perfume comes in a lovely case with a detachable bow is a stylish edition to the Incanto Bloom range. With its sleek metal case, this solid perfume compact is perfect for on the go scenting while the detachable bow makes a lovely brooch!" 2 gr for £29 at Escentual in the UK.

Nice bottle from Tom Ford :-)

The Ferragamo compact is nice too. Sadly as you well said, all solids are usually limited eds and also limited distribution :-(

    But VERY giftable!

The TF bottle looks really nice in that color.

The problem with the Ferragamo compact is that the ribbon is going to get dirty. But yes, fine gift, and then the dirty ribbon is not your problem, LOL…

It doesn’t seem to be big enough. I have no idea what it’s for.

I was wondering if they’d make lotions/Creams and shower gels for the private blends but why that one? Wouldn’t they wanna make one for their most popular one, Tobacco Vanille? That seems to be the one everyone talks about and nordies and saks say that’s their top seller of the line

No idea, but would not surprise me if Neroli Portofino was really the best seller — would think it has more universal appeal than the Tobacco Vanille? But I have no way of knowing. Also do not know if the whole collection is LE or just the fragrance in the blue bottle. And perhaps they are just testing this out to see how body products will sell.

I love Tobacco Vanille with a passion but not sure i would want a shower gel, soap or body scrub that smelled of it! Seems sensible for a bath & body range to use the freshest, cleanest smelling of the range for the fragrance. Not sure that the blue bottles are limited edition – i believe that they will continue as long as the bath/body range survives.

PS, have tried the whole range & the neroli in the products also layers very well with other fragrances which i don’t think the Tobacco would have done!

=( The Neroli Portofino was my least favorite of the original 12.

The TF bottle is very attractive. I’d lemming that if I liked Neroli.

I’ve always though the Womanity bottle was spectacular. It really should win a prize. The pouch seems a bit twee compared to the Blade Runner bottle.

The Clinique bottle is unattractive and not distinctive enough for a limited edition. It seems like something I’d find in the drugstore closeout bin for $5.99.

I, too, like that blue-green bottle for the Neroli Portofino. I saw it from a distance the other day in Saks and thought, “What the heck is that — a new TF scent?” Upon closer inspection, I saw that it was the NP. This is a great scent for spring/summer and now I’m wondering about the body products. Hmmm …

Actually the Neroli Portofino is not for neiman Marcus. It’s a limited edition for Harvey Nichols Dubai. Celebrating 5 years in UAE by launching many designer items in this motif. There were Armani shoes in black with this blue accent on the sole and so on.
Where’d you get the neiman marcus source?

I did not say it was “for” Neiman Marucs, but it’s on sale there. You can find it on their website. It’s also at Nordstrom in the US, and it’s at at least one of the UK department stores but now I forget which one. Might be Selfridges.

Robin, you’re right, its on sale in Selfridges now & in Harrods & Harvey Nichols from beginning of May along with the whole body range – nothing to do with Harvey Nichols in Dubai especially except that they’re selling it!

Those places may be selling it but its blue because Harvey Nichols collaborated with many designers for their 5th anniversary in the UAE to launch limited edition items in this motif.
You can check the HN UAE site or FB.

The 250 ml pictured on the NM site has a round green glass ball on top, not the flat top. Not as attractive, in my opinion.

Yes, all the Private Blend 250 ml have the ball, the 50 ml have the flat top.

the 250ml is same as all the other TF 250ml decanters – just a colour change – looks fantastic in the flesh – nicer than the 50ml bottle as i don’t like to see all the stuff going on in the lid on the 50ml !

I was wondering why the bottles of Terre d’Hermès at Holt looked different than the images online (I work down the street.) I prefer the original bottle for sure. The chrome hashmark motif really subtracts from the glass of the bottle and is strangely out of step with the mystical, earthy smell of Terre. One wonders if the designer ever opened it and took a whif.

That TF bottle is beautiful in person. Of course, the SA thought it was a completely new fragrance until we pointed out that it is in the lineup already. Thank you for clarifying.
