Posted by Robin on 23 March 2011 160 Comments — Comments are closed

Up for grabs: Atelier Cologne Vanille Insensee

What is it: a 30 ml bottle of Vanille Insensée by Atelier Cologne. I've decanted a small sample (I keep the sample, you get the bottle).

How do I get it: For a chance to win, leave a comment telling me that you live in the US. Also, please us either a) your favorite vanilla fragrance or b) your favorite dessert.

Be sure to use the “Post a comment” box; do not reply to another comment! Replies to comments will be deleted!

The contest will be open until noon or so on Thursday, and I'll announce the winner on Friday.

The fine print: Don't enter the contest unless I have permission to use the email address in your reader account to contact you. If the email address in your reader account is incorrect, you might want to fix it. If you are the winner and you fail to send me your mailing details within a couple weeks, I’ll give your prize away to someone else. Sadly, it sometimes usually takes me a month to mail a package. Reasonable care will be taken in the packaging and mailing of your prize, but if the contents are lost or damaged or fail to please you for any reason whatsoever, I’m sorry but I cannot replace them.

Hi Robin, I’m a longtime lurking reader, and still quite a perfume n00b, but I decided to join in today. I live in the US, and I actually don’t have a favorite vanilla fragrance yet. I was thinking about this earlier today haha. My favorite dessert is tiramisu. =)

Oooo, this is on my “to buy” list. My favorite vanilla scent, and I’ve sampled many, is L’Artisan’s Havana Vanille. Divine!

I live in the US and I really hope I win this! I just tried a sample yesterday, and I’m bewitched! I’m not typically a fan of vanilla fragrances (they tend to be either too sweet/gourmand or feminine). This is simply seductive, like a warm spring breeze.. I think I might have found a favorite vanilla fragrance!

I live in the US and Key Lime Pie is my favorite dessert because I make it using fresh vanilla bean and that is my “secret”. It always has people asking what is different about the pie, I taste it, but I just do not know. Now EVERYONE knows, LOL

Hello! I live in the US.
I’m not sure that I have a favorite vanilla-dominant fragrance, yet. I often enjoy it as a note, however. So, for vanilla desserts, I would say the most dramatic one that I’ve had was in Madagascar. It was rum in which vanilla beans had been soaked, poured over broiled bananas, served flambe style. Pretty blue flames with vanilla-rum scent!

My favorite vanilla (still – after all the searching) is LUSH Vanillary – something about it mixes with my chemistry better then most other vanillas.
My favorite dessert? I know there is a name for it but I can’t remember, but it’s a single scoop of vanilla ice cream topped with a shot of espresso.

    Thanks, Robin.

Love vanilla, which is why I’m a Guerlain girl. The odd thing is that I’ve never found a vanilla fragrance I’ve loved as much as a sandalwood-vanilla oil I got years ago from some natural foods store somewhere….I’ve tried to recreate it and haven’t been able to.

    Favorite dessert: cherry pie.

    I live in the U.S.

Favorite dessert? That would be even harder than picking a favorite perfume, but I guess I’d go with blackberry pie.

I go for the first when I want a boozy, more grown-up vanilla, and the latter when I’m in the mood to smell like a giant, walking vanilla/cinnamon/orange cupcake!

I like vanilla as a note, but I can’t say I’m a Vanilla-o-phile. My husband, however, adores vanilla and would be very grateful if this were the *it* fragrance for me. I think my favorite vanilla fragrance would have to be Tocade because of its comfort and warmth.

My favorite dessert? Green tea ice cream.

I live in the US, etc. Thanks so much!

My favorite vanilla is Vanille Extasy by Montale. I don’t know why it doesn’t get more love. The apricot note is offputting to some? I dunno. But I adore it! I’ve heard great things about Vanille Insensee but haven’t gotten to try it!

Yes, I live in the U.S., and yes permission to use my email.
I was just thinking the other day that I’ve been getting into vanilla scents recently (maybe because of the really cold winter season, kinda like comfort food), and as I type this I keep getting whiffs of my vanilla candle from Pier One. One of my favorites that I own is Pacifica’s Vanilla Vera Cruz. It doesn’t last very long, but it makes up for it through sheer deliciousness.
Dessert? Hm, how much time do you have? Prolly a tie between tira mi su and a really goopy, chocolatey, decadant brownie/ice cream sundae.
Ooh, I hope you pick me! (I know, shameless plug, sorry) ;)

I’m wearing my sample of Vanille Insensee today! It has great longevity (11 hours so far and going strong!) and an interesting chalky aspect to the vanilla that I really like.

My favorite vanillas are this one and Eau Duelle because they are not heavy, gourmand fragrances. I love Creed Sublime Vanille too. It’s sweeter than either the Diptyque or Atelier but stays reasonably close to the body. I could see myself wearing each of them in the middle of July without gassing anyone.

    Favorite dessert: summer fruit pudding.

    I live in the USA.

My favorite vanilla fragrance is Ecco Bella Vanilla Bourbon – easy to find on Amazon, under $20 – cheap, happy and layers well. Plus the spray cap unscrews so I can add other perfume oils, like more vanilla and leather, to up the ante.
Favorite vanilla dessert- plain old vanilla custard, cooked on top of the stove.

I just made a Boston cream pie for my Brazilian coworker friend’s birthday last Sunday. It was my first attempt at pastry cream. I loved the smell of the half and half and egg yolks cooking, thickening, creaming up…and then the final kick of vanilla at the end was divine. Needless to say, I ate myself sick on it. The cake and ganache turned out pretty well too!
