Tom Ford Lavender Palm ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 2 March 2011 18 Comments

Tom Ford Lavender Palm

Tom Ford has launched Lavender Palm, the latest addition to the Tom Ford Private Blend collection. The new unisex fragrance was inspired by Los Angeles and the bottle is done in a metallic silver finish.

Lavender Palm features notes of lavender, bergamot, lime blossom, moss and vetiver.

Tom Ford Private Blend Lavender Palm is available in 50 or 250 ml Eau de Parfum. It will be exclusive to the new Tom Ford boutique in Beverly Hills until September. (via W magazine, with thanks to Kevin for the scan, additional information via beautysnob)

Update: Lavender Palm will go into wider distribution in February 2012. Additional notes include lemon, clary sage, palm leaf accord, oleander and cedar.

Saw on a different post that this is $250 for 50ml, a big O U C H!!! Not sure if or when I can test this, but it most likely means a full bottle isn’t ever going to materialize for me. :(

Wow, and the TFPB prices were already pretty high. Oh well, luckily I have not felt the need to buy any of them.

I caved on the Noir de Noir, it is a beautiful saffron that I wear infrequently.

Was looking through the trademarks TF has registered in the last coupler of months & note mentions of some trademark fragrance names – Santal Absolute, Santal Blush, Violet Blonde, Jasmin Rouge, Take my breath away & Lavender Palm. iI know Lavender Palm is currently exclusive to TFs Beverly Hills store so presume these others are also upcoming fragrances for 2011 (?) Has anyone heard anything?

Take my breath away?? That one doesn’t fit with the others, does it? Wonder if it’s the next mainstream. (but no, haven’t heard anything, not that I am listening very hard)

A TF SA told me that two new Private Blends were coming this spring.

I’ve also heard 2 Private Blends were approaching. And rumors that the other trademarks may be for his cosmetics (lipstick?) line. Blush, Rouge, those sound like lipstick names…

Yeah i wasnt sure but the names were trademarked for fragrance use not for a makeup etc so wasnt sure. He’s done Bois Rouge so Jasmin Rouge kinda fitted with that. He’s now done Lavender with Lavender Palm, so a Santal & a Jasmin would fill in some gaps in the range. I thought ‘take my breath away’ didnt fit with the others. I guess maybe if they are introducing another few then another cull of lesser performing PB’s may be on the way like the last time ( RIP my beloved Moss Breches & Violet Gardenia (Sniff))

There is an article about this in the new W that arrived at my house last week… I’m at work now, so I don’t have access, but I’ll try to go pull it tonight when I get home. The article states that it’s basically a scent to celebrate the Tom Ford house’s 10th anniversary, and that Tom wanted to explore a new, fresher, more modern aspect of lavender. I’ll see if there was anything else notable when I get home.

Yes, that article was my source…see the “via” at the end above.

The lime makes this a no-go for me, but I will definitely want to sniff anything Tom Ford does. There are many misses, but the hits are colossal for me!

Many people love the line! The only one I really want to own is Oud Wood, and even that one not so much now that I’m a bit overloaded with oud.

Today I’m wearing Moss Breches, from my tiny travel bottle. It’s the only Tom Ford that I own. This one is just gorgeous! Lavender Palm sounds like one I would like to try, as it has some of my very favorite notes in an interesting-looking blend.

This does sound good although I’m slightly leary of the moss. I’ve been on a lime blossom kick lately…Ajne’s Sublime is gorgeous but there has to be a more affordable option. Hey, since when did TF Private Collection become the “affordable option”???

Oh good! Now I have somewhere to throw all that money that’s cluttering up my place! Gosh I thought Id never get rid of it! Tom Ford is definitely my favorite mainstream designer especially for fragrance. He’s one of my favorite people as far as his story goes, love the self created myth, and now everything he touches turns to chic.

Robin, you know I’m a die hard TFPB fan, but the last release I loved from him is Italian Cypress. I hope this will change that. Hope all is well Robin. :)

A scent inspired by LA? The couple times I’ve been down there, I can’t say I smelled anything I’d really like to smell like! They DO have those lovely lavender fields just north of the hills on I-5 (not sure what that area is called, but I stopped and took pictures with all the other tourists). However, once in the city, mostly smells like stale city air to me. (and NEVER saw any moss in LA–now Portland, we know how to do moss!)
