Harajuku Lovers G of the Sea ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 9 February 2011 39 Comments

Harajuku Lovers G of the Sea

Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Lovers brand has launched G of the Sea, a new limited edition fragrance for women:

G of the Sea is a beautiful mermaid with gorgeous flowing hair and an adorable green tail. Inspired by the magical world of her underground playground, this new, limited-edition Harajuku Lovers fragrance features a citrusy woody-floral scent.

Top notes delight in juicy splashes of crisp apple, magical water lily, and the tangy sweet surge of crushed berries. Soak in its heart, filled with flirty bouquets of dewy freesia, whispers of pink peony, and delicate kisses of jasmine petals. Finally, leave an enchanting trail of smoothly sundrenched woods, sensually transparent musks, and luscious amberwood.

Harajuku Lovers G of the Sea is available in 10 ($30) or 30 ($45) ml Eau de Toilette, and can be found now at Sephora. (via sephora)

Loving the added WOODY. Haha. Like that’s gonna be apparent. Dear lord if they make them all into mermaids! One can hope and dream. LOL!

I’ve been surprised they’ve done all 5 in each new set of flankers, actually…so we’ll see, but doing 1 of them seems smart, and G is easily the best.

The bottle may tempt me, but the fragrance itself sounds much less pleasant than the regular G.

…and yet, no marine notes, nothing beachy in the least other than the bottle. Which, I’m happy to say, I don’t need at all. (I did have to snag the Hello Kitty mini from Sephora w/BI points, though.)

I also got the mini Hello Kitty @ Sephora. Bottle so cute but I don”t plan on buying the big one. The juice is OK but not enough to send me over the edge. I did smell the new Bond No. 9 New York Oud and it is wonderful but ee gads $310.00

LOL. Hello Kitty or Bond No. 9? Decisions, decisions.

Actually, that Hello Kitty stuff has l-o-n-g staying power for a cheap perfume. I have a friend who thinks its sillage smells like pipe tobacco.

Oh my. The original bottles didn’t grab me too awful much, but this one is definitely tugging at me. This is pretty darn cute. Why are they calling it a citrus, though?

They’re classifying it as a woody floral.

This is a lovely bottle, but the description of a fragrance sounds like a yawn to me (sorry if you’re a fan, I’m sure it’s just me and apple note in perfumes!)

If someone gave it to me, I’d display the bottle without much worry of how perfumes does exposed. Oh my, this probably sounds awful again. let me try sounding nicer on the lazy Wednesday thread! ;)

I’ve never tempted by the regular Harujuku Lovers — but holy cow, this is cute!

    ADORABLE!

I was scrolling down, saw the bottle, and wanted to drop everything, run to the mall and sample it. Unfortunately, I am at work. :-) Interesting, though, that it’s “a citrusy woody-floral scent” with no citrus notes listed. Does apple count as citrus?

No, but lists of notes are nearly never complete, and most scents have at least some citrus.

    Underground ≠ underwater.

While I do enjoy a good cute thing, I don’t feel the need to own them anymore.

The bottle is so cute that I’m sitting here plotzing.

But it has apple in it, so it can go to hell.

I admit that I bought a bottle of Baby a few years ago — mainly because of the doll’s cute Afro. The mermaid’s hair is cute, too –so swirly.

Ok, I’m on the other side of the fence: these bottles all look tacky on the shelves at the discounter, and the perfume just never hits the spot…
    Just my 2 cents!

For all I care there might be just water in that bottle – I want it!
Hmm… Probably water would be even better.

This bottle is so cute!! Do you think making bottles that are shaped mermaids helps her sales or hurts? I mean it definitely take me back to my childhood since I lovvvvved the Little Mermaid. Do you know if perfume artists target a certain age with their specific fragrance? Do you feel the shape and design of the bottle has an influence?

I just came across this blog – new to the Now Smell This World! The reviews are really helpful! :) Thanks!

I just smelled G of the Sea at Sephora today. It’s Ed Hardy Love & Luck edp. I already have L&L but I think I may need this bottle still. Haha! Didn’t you like L&L Robin? Uh oh! Haha. Fight the temptation! : )
