Agent Provocateur L’Agent ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 11 January 2011 33 Comments

Agent Provocateur L'Agent

Agent Provocateur will launch L'Agent this month. The new "darkly mysterious and powerfully seductive new fragrance" for women (which may or may not be a flanker to the original Agent Provocateur) features pheromones.

L’Agent is a provocative scent that captures the senses in a flight of magnetic oriental florals, intoxicating amber and erotic musk.

Its potent heart has been captured with captivating ingredients like Geranium Bourbon, Rose de Mai, Jasmin Sambac, Tuberose absolute and Osmanthus. The heart has been secretly nurtured by adding exotic dark secrets in addition to Davana Oil, Baies Rose, Ylang Ylang, Rosewood and Angelica.

The base has been kissed and caressed with the finest and darkest ingredients including Patchouli, Sandalwood, Amber Crystals, Tonka Beans, Rock Rose, Myrrh and Black Incense Musk.

Agent Provocateur L'Agent will be available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum, and will be exclusive to Harvey Nichols for a few weeks starting 15 January. (via harveynichols, additional information via diarydirectory)

Between the “The base has been kissed and caressed” and “The heart has been secretly nurtured by adding exotic dark secrets”, it seems this perfume was accosted not created!

Hey, it’s Agent Provocateur. I thought that was pretty tame 😉

Yeah, I think “willingly stripped of its luxurious underthings and then ravished” is more in their wheelhouse, but “kissed and caressed” still made me laugh, because I had this image of someone at IFF fondling a beaker of patchouli and synthetic musk before dumping it into a vat.

But we expect this sort of thing from perfume writing, surely, and I actually thought the original Agent Provocateur, although not remotely the sort of thing I like, was well done for what it was (which is to say it was a lot better than it could have been).

Ha! I read this and thought, sounds like a bad drunk at a bar who doesn’t realize the lady isn’t interested.

“Kissed and caressed…and secretly nurtured” sounds more like seduction to me. At least it wasn’t fondled and groped.

The original is quite popular in my house, and while the others from the line haven’t really tempted me, this one sounds good—I hope to sample it soon! 🙂

I will. but you might know that I’m useless for describing scents.
only what they remind me of and things that they smell like.

so to give an idea, does the original smell of roses? or suppossed to be sexy roses? because I’ve smelled the original and might be able to give an idea what the new one is like from that.

The original is still the best they’ve done so far, I think. Will be curious to smell this one.

Not so secret if they’re openly telling us about it.

I don’t have any exotic dark secrets myself, but wouldn’t mind if my fragrance did. 🙂

I, too, like the original and will definitely seek this out for a try.

I liked the AP Diamond Dust sample I tried, but it was pallid next to (what else?) L’Arte di Gucci. I liked Strip, too, but it reminded me of something else – exactly what, I can’t remember now.

The notes on this one sound nice, if I ignore the breathless gushery of the PR (I usually do, life’s simpler that way), but I doubt a sample will come flying in my direction.

This sounds rather…nice and wearable, typically oriental…but that certainly doesn’t seem to be the image they’re going for!

The original is good – it never became FBW for me, but almost. That saffron is moody on me. But this sounds very test worthy. Maybe the next fragrance they release should be called “Chaperone”.

Nothing in the line has worked on me, but I do like something about the way this sounds. How many times did they use ‘dark’ in the copy again?

Would be interesting if someone did an article on what ‘dark’ even means in an olfactory sense. Unless its just the opposite of light (in weight) and sounds better than ‘heavy’!

can’t wait to grope this one. I’m a sucker for pheromones. Also, I have high hopes that one day AP will make a fragrance that I like because I love their bottles.

This could be kinda interesting. I kinda like the first AP perfume. But only in wintertime and only in small spritz. Their other fragrances has just been plain dull. The bottle of the original and the Matrisse one, is gorgeous, though.

Hmmm. I wonder how long this will take to hit Australian shores. “exotic dark secrets”… What’s the bet that oud gets a look in here? sounds a bit juliette-y to me (not that that’s a bad thing!). Sounds *shiny*… Looking forward to a salacious (if brief) affair!

All the amber, incense and “dark” musk sounds lovely. Certainly not as dark and challenging as MKK, but I very recently tried and loved the first AP, so would like to give this a go.

And Mals, you’re quite right. Nothing compares to L’Arte. Some perfumes come sort of close, but nothing is quite like the femme fatale in heels she is. Why oh why did Gucci discontinue it? I’m already a bit panicky since I’m down to a bottle and a half. :((

Interesting bottle, the perfume and its description; suddendly a black and white pic came to my mind that of Greta Garbo (probably 1930s era)

I wonder what exactly is black incense musk? Is it musk, or is it incense?!?
Other than that and ignoring the ridiculous PR, the fragrance looks like a possible gem to me. I think I’d even buy this blindly as I like a lot AP and Eau Emotionelle (the rest don’t really work for me)
