Ormonde Jayne in Chelsea ~ shopping for perfume in London

Posted by Guest Shopper on 11 December 2010 — 0 Comments — Comments are closed

Ormonde Jayne Pavilion Road interior

Ormonde Jayne fans will be pleased to know that there’s a new standalone Ormonde Jayne shop in Chelsea, just off Sloane Square. The new shop is much bigger than the tiny space in the Royal Arcade, which means that more goodies are on display, rather than tucked away in drawers.

The new flagship store, swimming beautifully in smoked mirror glass, offers the chance to sit down and have your Perfume Portrait created for you. This involves sniffing an array of 21 notes (hemlock, tonka, orris, bergamot, moss, etc.), choosing your favourites, and having those choices analysed by the assistant to suggest likely winners among the twelve Ormonde Jayne scents. (The suggestions made for me were Tolu, Orris Noir and Ormonde Woman, which are in fact my favourites in the line. I was impressed.)

The shop offers the Discovery sets, which are beautifully boxed and hold 2 ml samples of all twelve scents. There are boxed handbag sprays (4 x 10 ml) of all the scents, and also a new candle, scented with mandarin and spices, designed for Christmas.

The Pavilion Road store is open on Sundays.

Getting there: The nearest tube station is Sloane Square. From the single exit, head diagonally across the square. Pavilion Road is just off Sloane Square, near the Peter Jones department store. 192 Pavilion Road, London SW1X 0BJ, Tel +44 207 730 1381.

Nearby: The Peter Jones store is worth a visit. You’re also near the Saatchi Gallery, and the Royal Court Theatre.
