Puredistance Antonia & M ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 8 December 2010 17 Comments

Puredistance M

Vienna-based niche brand Puredistance has followed their debut offering, 2008's Puredistance I, with two new fragrances, Antonia and M.

Antonia (not shown) ~ "The perfume ANTONIA combines a sense of newness (the green notes) with a sense of adventurous optimism (its whiff of bright tanginess that teases the senses and then leads them on with its invitingly sweet-and-creamy nuances). Together it’s a spellbinding combination, and yet it’s rendered in a soft, understated style that makes for a fragrance of graceful presence…" The notes include jasmine, rose, orris, galbanum, vanilla and vetiver. Antonia is available at Lianne Tio Parfums in Rotterdam.

M (shown above) ~ "Puredistance M gives the wearer (M or W...) the sensation he or she would have inside the leather interior of an Aston Martin: rich, warm and stylish. And at the same time..., deep down inside, a chic, sensual undertone makes the whole experience a genuinely exciting one. Puredistance M Perfume - a Leather Chypré - was made in London by the Master of Perfume Roja Dove." M can be found at First in Fragrance in Germany.

Puredistance Antonia and M are 165€ each for 17.5 ml Parfum.

Yes Ma’am! I got a sample of this in the late summer (I think) and it was too hot at the time and didn’t work for me. I tried it again about 2 months ago, and decided I love it, the thrid time was the charm.

Since then, I’ve been going to their site every day to see when it would be available. Yay! (I really MUST work on my issues with delayed gratification!) It will be in time for Santa (pssst – listening???)

Me too. If this happens, I think I’ll be cut off from getting any new fragrances for a good long while. Is there any limit to the price of these things? Hence not wanting to smell anythng new.

I’d rather have the Aston Martin. The DB9 coupe to be specific.

I’ll settle for a leather jacket.

Antonia sounds lovely. I have GOT to stop being intrigued by these hard to find in the US fragrances….But not today. :-)

This product had better be AMAZING. At current exchange rates it is $218.65 for 17.5 ml, which is a little more than 1/2 ounce. Aren’t we talking Chanel perfume territory in terms of price? A barrel of crude oil contains 42 gallons. A barrel of this perfume (at retail price) would cost $2,026,659. People think oil companies are greedy? I hate to reduce everything to price…I guess this explains why so many perfumes are issued every year!

You’ve got a point. Some of us (like myself) can honestly say that a perfume like M sounds amazing, but would we pay that kind of money for it, especially for so little juice? Most likely not.

It is a very expensive line. I smelled the 1st one and thought it was pretty but ambitiously priced; haven’t smelled these two.

Actually, the Chanel Exclusifs work out at $1.77 (rounded up) per ml, which, in terms of ‘fume prices, is pretty good value these days – much cheaper than this line.

I can vouch that Antonia is gorgeous: the description of it in your post is from my review!

Robin, I’m guessing that you would probably like Antonia a whole lot more than Puredistace I (well, that would be my best educated guess based on how I perceive your tastes via your reviews…ackk, watch me be all wrong!). True, it’s pricey, but it is parfum strength, and I’ve actually shelled out more money per ml on one of the Vero Profumo extraits. (Of course, maybe that’s why I don’t have a good leather jacket, either.) :-)

Did you know that store (Lianne Tio) was using your text to sell something at retail?!? If not, that’s terrible — just tell me and I will remove it.

No, I wasn’t aware. Thanks for letting me know – I’ll look into it. You don’t need to remove it from your post, it just took me by surprise and made me wonder.

I did notice that the Puredistance people have quoted quite a few bloggers on their own blog. Maybe they also included those quotes in their press materials, in which case a store would have probably thought they were free game.
