It’s going to cause a stink at Binghamton University’s E.W. Heier Teaching Greenhouse but the staff can hardly wait. One of their largest charges – the Amorphophallus titanum a.k.a. corpse flower or titan arum – is getting ready to bloom and expected to show off its strikingly good looks on or around Tuesday, September 14.

I think someone needs to step up and develop a limited edition “Metis” fragrance in honor of this rare event. Maybe Etat Libre d’Orange would be the perfect choice – after all, nothing could smell more disturbing than Secretions Magnifiques …
LOL…I’m sure we’ll see that launch soon 😉
Corpse Flower is the new black.
So true!!
Robin do you recall if there is any corpse flowers in the southeast? I really would go to smell one, but they all seem to be a ways from South Carolina.
I know there is one at UNC, and there’s another at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota. Might well be more, those are just plants I know of!
