Were the English subtitles really necessary?
Beats me!! I was wondering the same.
Yes, subtitles in English are useful for French people like me who don’t always understand your language 100% 😉
Yes, but then you’d think if they were doing subtitles, they could do them in other languages — like French subtitles to show in France, for instance. This is Dior, after all!
Yeah I guess they could have done that since it’s a French brand. But personally if I’m watching a DVD and want to make sure I’ll understand everything 100%, I’ll leave the voices AND the subtitles in English because it’ll match what I’m hearing (instead of some phony translation). Anyway, subtitles were necessary for this and it’s good they kept it in English!
My favorite was “Woo woo woo woo.” 😀
Yes, I’m so glad we had subtitles to clarify that! LOL
Hmmm. I’m intrigued. Will have to see how they all play out. I don’t find Jude Law particularly attractive, but that voice! What is it about an English accent? If it were Scottish, I’d be too weak to type this! lol
They’re pretty good teasers, esp. the last, but this whole trend of doing multiple teasers for a commercial is sort of silly to me.
I am English, and his semi-London accent annoys the heck out of me: it sounds sloppy. Same with Clive Owen. A boy can be pretty but, if he talks badly (to my ears) he ain’t for me. Probably just as well since I’m sure neither of them would take even a first look at me, let alone a second!
I didn’t like them. But then I don’t like Jude Law. And Guy Ritchie’s fixation with London low-life is getting old.
Agree—I didn’t like them either….Not a Jude Law fan and the teasers seemed kind of ….”smarmy” . Is he a stalker? Is he arranging a kinky assignation with 2 women WHILE one woman helps him dress? Is he into BDSM and he’s going “make them wish they hadn’t been caught’? I’ll concede they’re “dark” and “edgy-movie-ish” …..hurrah, clap, clap….the “look” is fine. His lines: slightly disturbing. He’s wearing a nice suit though.
I actually like the dialogue. 🙂 But then I always am a sucker for the bad boys. It made me think of how David Bowie’s Jareth the Goblin King spoke to Sarah (Jennifer Connelley) in “Labyrinth”: “I ask for so little. Just fear me, love me, do as I say and I will be your slave.” As a young teen I was thinking: “I’m so confused…andyet so turned on!” lol Ok now I feel may have revealed too much. *blush*
LOL, I felt the same way 🙂
I love his voice… (YUM)
Oh, yes, he has my complete attent. . . .look! is that a chicken?
😀
Do you have that ADDers’ “Oh look, a chicken” t-shirt? Love that! My husband thinks I need one.
“You’re going to wish you’d never been caught.” ?? That’s got some pretty negative connotations for me, even if it’s meant to be sexy…
I like Jude Law, but these were a bit annoying and uninteresting to me. Maybe longer versions will work better.
I do like the style Dior uses of making their teasers look cinematic — don’t know if you all saw the Lady Dior series done with Marion Cotillard, but I liked those a lot. Actually, the first time I saw one, I actually was confused and thought it was a movie trailer!
I like Jude Law, and I like Dior Homme, and I like bad-ass characters, but I don’t like Guy Ritchie, and I agree that his whole ‘thing’ is getting a bit tired.
But I’ll reserve actual judgment until the commercial is out.
