Yves Rocher Vanille Noire ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 2 August 2010 40 Comments

Yves Rocher Vanille Noire perfume

Yves Rocher will launch Vanille Noire, a new fragrance for women in the the Secrets d’Essences collection (see Voile d’Ambre, Rose Absolue, Iris Noir, Tendre Jasmin).

Vanille Noire was developed by perfumer Jacques Cavallier, who has focused on the sensual aspects of vanilla rather than the gourmand angle. The notes include mandarin, mimosa, cedar and three varieties of vanilla.

Yves Rocher Vanille Noire will launch in September, and will be available in 30 and 50 ml Eau de Parfum and 10 ml rollerball. Matching body products will also be sold. (via bellemania.de, Yves Rocher Deutschland on Facebook)

I’ve heard that a number of the Yves Rocher scents are well done esp considering the low price. The only one that I’ve tried wasn’t bad at all. Probably won’t seek this out because I have several vanillas already but I’d try it if a bottle came my way

Yes, they’re well done for the price, and this particular range (which is priced just a bit higher than the others) is very nice.

It’s tough to pass up anything with Vanilla in the title! I’m sure the 10ml rollerball will be practically “free” …..Yves Rocher does do a really nice job for an inexpensive line. They make pleasantly friendly fragrances, every single one.

I’m looking forward to this, especially since it sounds like it won’t be a gourmand vanilla (not that I don’t love my gourmand scents). I do love some of this line, particularly Rose Absolue.

Rose Absolue is my favorite too, although I still haven’t tried the jasmine one.

Like you two, the YR Rose is my fave. Just couldn’t get to grips with the Jasmine as I couldn’t smell any jasmine, just overwhelming bergamot, in a not good way (had to give it to a friend). Am looking forward to this new vanilla. Have just ordered a L’Artisan Parfumeur Vanilia – am I right in thinking this has now been discontinued? Maybe the YR might be a nice (cheap) substitute?

Does anyone remember the linen spray that BBW sold about 10 years ago? It was called Lavender and Vanilla, and was in a slim glass bottle with flowers inside (like ships in bottles). The current lavender and vanilla smells nothing like this and is rather weak. Has anyone else got a favourite pillow spray?

Jillie, I didn’t have the BBW Lavender & Vanilla linen spray, but I had the lotion — I remember the line you’re talking about, about 10 years ago. It smelled great! Wasn’t it some kind of aromatherapy collection?

Jill, you’re absolutely right! Not quite sure how really aromatherapeutic is was, other than smelling lovely; I’ve kept a bottle with an inch in it (for special occasions!), and the ingredients aren’t listed. Must admit it doesn’t even smell like it has real lavender essential oil in it, but darn it, it makes the pillows smell heavenly!

I like their Jasmine Vanilla from the aromatherapy line but I don’t know if they still make that one.

Don’t know about that one. Also, I live in the UK and BBW bailed out of here years ago so it’s quite difficult to get hold of products, but not impossible with ebay to help.

Forgive typo in reply above. Obviously I need aromatherapy and a good night’s sleep!

I want the model’s Veronica Lake hair.

(Noire indeed, ha. What have mandarin and mimosa to do with Noire?) That said, it could be very pleasant — Rose Absolue was nice.

Even that model doesn’t have that hair. Heard the phrase “It takes a village?” Yeah. well….that surely applies here too. :)

You can’t have her hair, because *I* want her hair!!

I think they might be using Noire as completely interchangeable with Blanche…. ;-)

OK, Bath and Body works had a fragrance called Vanilla Noir, that was released in ’08 I believe, and recently discontinued. It also focused on the ‘sensual’ aspects of vanilla. hmmmmmm

The first four Secrets d’Essences came in 15-mL sprays, and I’m surprised that this one doesn’t, because that spray is Yves Rocher’s standard mini-spray size; most of their scents are available in it (for $12.50 Canadian at Christmastime). Maybe they’re switching over to rollerballs, which I don’t like because they’re much more prone to contamination.

I love (and own) Voile d’Ambre, liked Rose Absolue but not enough to wear it, disliked Iris Noir because I am not an iris person, and really, really disliked Tendre Jasmin for reasons I can’t even put my finger on except that it smells bizarrely wet. But I am counting on this new vanilla to be gorgeous.

I will definitely try this – I haven’t done a Rocher order in a while so maybe now is the time! Their Iris Noir is about the only iris I can wear without feeling like it’s an experiment.

I like the Iris Noir also, it’s such a different take on iris compared to all the others I’ve tried. It’s not a dry iris and it’s a little on the sweet side, but very wearable I think. I have all of the Secrets d’ Essences line and I look forward to this one!

I love YR’s Monoi de Tahiti oil for my hair and order from them at least three or four times a year. I’ll have to try this when the rollerball’s available as it sounds nice. Not exactly ‘noir’, but pretty and I am always impressed with the quality of the products I’ve tried.

The Bath and Body Works Vanilla Noir’s been discontinued? I really liked that one. This always seems to happen with scents i like from that shop… I really should stop going there all together lest I fall in love with more discontinued items. :(

It was discontinued during the January semi annual sale, but it was hanging around in some stores until this past semi annual sale in June/July. I *think* you can still find it online and you almost certainly can/will find it in the outlets for quite some time.

Interesting, isn’t it, how much credibility Yves Rocher has built up within the perfume community, especially from their recent Secrets d’Essences releases. I’ve enjoyed them all and have minis of all of them plus a full bottle of Voile d’Ambre in parfum concentration (there was a special offer last Christmas or maybe the one before and, well, I’m a sucker for a special). I think they’re all a whole lot better than most of the stuff you can buy for the same price, so whether this new vanilla will part me from my beloved Spiriteuse Double Vanille remains to be seen, but I bet I’ll end up buying at least a mini.

I have the purse sprays of Rose Absolue, Iris Noir, and Voile d’Ambre – the Ambre isn’t really me, but I love the other two. I haven’t gotten around to trying the Jasmine yet (although it doesn’t sound like I’m missing much), but maybe I’ll grab a small bottle of that when the Vanille Noire comes out and try them both at the same time. Vanilla scents tend to be iffy on me (I seem to pull out the sweet cookie smell), but I’m always looking.

The bottle looks like the standard Secrets d’Essences bottle, which is very understated and handsome.

My 1.7 oz bottle and 10 ml roll-on came in the mail today! It’s a lighter Hypnotic Poison without the rootbeerish/Plaudough smell. I can also smell the mandarin oranges. I love it! 42 bucks for the both of them and free shipping! Yay! My very first unsniffed purchase!
