Really don’t even know what Old Spice smells like — though, I know my great grandfather used the soap & know that I have at least a few male friends who claim to wear it — but the ads always are good for a laugh. Actually, I think aforementioned male friends wear it because of the commercials.

I have a decant and I do wear it sometimes…it’s a great scent.

Robin, I agree it is a great sent–one of the first around and it’s still modern and manly. The commercial is corny/campy but in a pleasant fun way.

I’ve never smelled it either, K. My men wear what I tell them to (hellooo, New Haarlem).

…but he’s not on a horse. Shame. The original was much better!

Agree the original was better, but still thought this was good (and funnier than 99% of commercials I see).

I was waiting for the horse, too…
Then again, it worked in the other commercial because it was so unexpected and so completely random. Any follow-up commercial (with the element of surprise gone) would have been a disappointment, I think.

    Love these commercials!

Don’t want my man to smell like Old Spice (reminds me of my son’s middle school basketball team who all used copious amounts of the Old Spice deoderant) but I wouldn’t mind some of that gourmet meal/dream kitchen action!

Love the commercials! I would be grateful if my DH wore anything, as he refuses to wear scents. Ah, the irony….

I love that guy! What a great marketing campaign. Because of it I bought my boyfriend some old spice deodorant. It had a sticker on it that said, “Smells like Freedom!” Hilarious.

    I love his swan dive.

I have secret affection for Old Spice. Do they still make the white china bottles? And I definitely want The Man building a custom kitchen to cook me a gourmet cake.

I don’t know if they still make those bottles or if they’re all plastic now, but they’re harder to find than they used to be.

I bought mine a couple of years ago, but it was in the milk-glass bottle they’ve been using for ages. I’d be shocked if they were packaging it in plastic, even now.

As for how it smells, well, Old Spice is awesome stuff. Mostly carnations and vanilla; it’s actually a straight-up floral, with a citrus top and a little slosh of gasoline. Thoroughly amazing. Guerlain Terracotta Voile D’Ete is, surprisingly, a variant of it (with ylang-ylang instead of jasmine).

That guy is perfect for these commercials. The first one was better, but this was still pretty adorable.

The first one was from the last super bowl, and so far as I know this one is very recent.

They really know what they’re doing. Few things can make a product that look better than a company that has a great sense of humor about itself!

I think they’re hysterically funny too.

And while I think Old Spice smells wonderful, my dad wore it, so asking my husband to wear it would be a little on the creepy side.

What I think is really funny about all this is that Old Spice was originally introduced in 1937 as a WOMEN’s fragrance! Apparently, it did not sell too well, and it was tweaked and reintroduced as a men’s fragrance.

Very Funny! Love these commercials! And is it me, or did his body get much better in this second one?
I am also shaking my head that some of you ladies don’t know what Old Spice smells like (but mostly shaking my head because it means I am old and you all are too young to remember…). It’s a classic, like Brut, and for a whole generation defined what a man should smell like. I have very fond memories of my Dad wearing Old Spice. It’s very nostalgic for me. Find some vintage on line and enjoy!

I love when the deck splits apart and the rubber legs kind of wobble.
    These are really a hoot.
