Absolutely

Posted by Robin on 28 June 2010 14 Comments

Actress Olivia Wilde, crowd surfing for the upcoming Absolutely Me fragrance from Escada. I have a feeling this is not the final version of the commercial — surely they will edit out the wires that are holding her up.

    Hilarioulsy bad! 😀

Desire Me was not bad as Escada goes though

The commercial didn’t really bother me, although the idea of Olivia Wilde crowd surfing in that dress is not exactly convincing.

So Absolutely Me is the result of a a pollen-gathering, or perhaps sweat-and-pheromone-gathering expedition through a young crowd?

Haven’t yet seen anything about the fragrance itself…

Not me either, but as fragrance commercials go, it’s no better or worse than many 😉

Didn’t Escada just go bankrupt recently?

I think so. But even if the fashion house disappears (and no idea if that’s likely), I’d guess the fragrances will keep right on coming…

Clearly, it wasn’t the perfumes’ fault that they’ve gone bankrupt… I was almost hoping that all those fruit jus scents will disappear when I read that bit last year.

I actually quite liked the ad, although 1) I have no idea who Olivia Wilde is and 2) the odds that I would even try, let alone like, this scent are close to nil. I think it’s the music (I love that throbbing, bass-heavy kind of house/techno), and also the fact that most perfume ads feature one person or a couple, but this is someone in a huge crowd, in a rather literal transport of ecstasy (not unlike the swoony Opium ads with Sophie Dahl but with strangers touching you, in a good way). It gets its message across quickly and compactly, and I think it’s a pretty good piece of advertising.

Olivia Wilde is popularly known as Thirteen in House, MD – that medical drama on Fox. 😀
