I seriously laughed out loud when I read that price. Perfumista or not I think I could find a better way to spend $1079 than dropping it on -one- bottle.

Luckily I don’t adore either of them this year. Past years, there have been some I really would have loved to own.

    I love the bell jar.

I am no bottle fanatic (though I do not mind a nice bottle, and the bottle can actually help tip my purchase decision one way or the other, in case of doubts), but there are two bell jars that are deeply engraved in my bottle-fantasies.
    – Mandarin mandarin
    – Borneo (a nice reader of nst has it for avatar! flittersniffer, if I am correct!)
Only the classic Guerlains con compete with those jars in bottle-appeal!!

The Mandarine one was spectacular —

And for as much as I love exquisite perfume bottles, I will continue buying the regular offerings. In the end, it smells the same right?

Excellent. I’m not remotely tempted by either of those. Usually the
engraved bell jars have me weeping with desire.

they have glass etching paste at Michaels and other craft stores. Just cut your own stencil and smear some on a bottle, and viola! Your own VERY limited edition bottle.

While I would never bother to do that for myself, that would actually be a really good idea for a gift.

yes! exactly. Plus—I think I could do better than those strange quasi-Batman **BAM** **POW** explosion looking thingies. Maybe I’m just being a “wowser-ruiner-super-fun-sucker” but I’m not at all impressed by either bottle…not even a little bit!

I dunno—looked like slobber to me…but then we had a big ole slobbery Saint Bernard when I was a kid, and well, that reminded me of St. Bernard slobber. (deeesgusting)

These two LE bottles are gorgeous — I do wonder what the juices are like, though. My heart is after the Boxeuses.

I think the flacons are lovely, too, and am looking forward to discovering the juices. Drool! (But not enough to ever make me consider shelling out that kind of dosh for bloody perfume! I do wish his prices were more democratic.)

At first I thought the 300€ price was for the bottle on the right and thought “well, I suppose that’s reasonable”. But 850€ for 75 mL? Good grief. Rather have a Louis Vuitton purse for that much.

I kind of wish the Boxeuses bottle also had “Wham!” and “POW!” engraved on it to go with the boxing theme, but it’s pretty cute nevertheless. Not 850 euros cute, but cute.

PS I don’t really see why anyone (unless because you can’t get ahold of the exclusives line) would buy 50 mL for 95€ (1.90€ per mL) when 75 mL is 110€ (1.46€ per mL).

PPS Will buy exclusive bottles and ship to anyone (I’m in France) with caveat that I can keep any extras and if it breaks in the mail I’m not at fault.

They might one day. The rationale behind the decision to export this or that fragrance every year is mysterious.

CUIR MAURESQUE!!!!!!!!!! Oooh yeah, Sergey! Merci boucoup! That is one of my favourites from the Exclusif collection. So is Muscs Koublai Khan. If things carry on in this way, 2011 will be Tubereuse Criminelle………
