Victoria’s Secret Chiffon Peony Freesia ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 10 March 2010 17 Comments

Victoria's Secret Chiffon Peony Freesia perfume

Victoria's Secret has launched Chiffon Peony Freesia, a new addition to the Parfums Intimes range (see also: Satin Rose de Mai, Silk Mandarin Santal, Cashmere Vanilla Jasmine, Lace Orange Flower and Velvet Amber Blackberry):

Chiffon Peony Freesia was designed to evoke the unique sensation of chiffon - the airy softness, the ethereal beauty, the romance. The fragrance adorns skin in the soft bloom of peony, fresh South African white freesia, sparkling Italian bergamot and the dreamy warmth of vanilla.

Victoria's Secret Chiffon Peony Freesia is available in 50 ml Eau de Parfum ($45) or 250 ml Fragrance Mist ($25). (via victoriassecret)

This actually sounds great if they would have left out the freesia. I just can’t do freesia most of the time.

I don’t love freesia in perfume either. Then again, peony isn’t a favorite, so it’s all a wash.

My impression of Victoria’s Secret perfumes has so far been very much of a muchness. Next up, Polyester Pikake Musk, Cotton Frangipani Honey, and Nylon Cinnamon Neroli, for those of us who live in the real world. ;-).

I thought the Intimes collection was a step up for them…they were nicer than most of the other VS scents I’ve smelled. Didn’t feel the need to buy any of them though.

The box is cute. I thought that was some sort of bath poof on the bottle before I made the connection that it was supposed to be chiffon.

I thought the whole thing was a powder box until I read more…

The first four of this line were really well done for VC. However, Velvet Amber Blackberry just smelled like a rather generic rose, not the same Amber Blackberry I loved from Bath and Body Works despite their being owned by the same company. The sales lady at VC actually got quite offended when I whipped out my nearly empty bottle of BBW Amber Blackberry to compare the two, even after I told her they’re the same company. ;)

Freesia is nice, but peony really doesn’t do much for me, either. Pass.

I didn’t like it as well as the first 4 either.

I gave this a sniff at the mall.. it is actually very nice and soft, but a little too tame for me. Surprisingly enough, however I really loved the very sexy flanker, ‘very sexy now’… it has a heinous leopard print bottle but i had to have it, it was bright and kind of bold in a wearable way. I had sworn off of victoria;s secret perfumes but i really liked that one.

The very Sexy Now bottle is kind of amazing! I can’t really get a sense of what it smells like from the description. What does it smell like to you?

Very Sexy Now? It’s really sweet and a little sharp in the first few minutes but then dries down softer, you can pick out the orchid. The frangipani is I guess what the sweet note is, but it’s fun and a little more complex, and not too dessert like. My ex doesn’t like it- he only likes perfumes that smell like a cupcake so I take that as a good thing. The lily note reminds me of the something in Tocca’s Brigitte. On me it is very nice, almost a little musky but it’s a clean musk.
The Chiffon one to me smells like dryer sheets but in a nice way if that makes sense.

Aw! Peony and freesia – that’s my wedding bouquet! Now I have to sniff this, don’t I?

Though I’d almost rather be dipped in something nasty than go into a Victoria’s Secret. No clothes for big women there!

More accurately: no clothes for REAL women there…

I admit I haven’t peeked at anything other than the perfumes in years, and I don’t even always bother with those.
