Victoria’s Secret Velvet Amber Blackberry ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 21 October 2009 34 Comments

Victoria's Secret Velvet Amber Blackberry fragrance

Victoria's Secret has launched Velvet Amber Blackberry, the fifth fragrance in the Parfums Intimes collection:

Introducing Velvet Amber Blackberry, the latest fragrance from Parfums Intimes, our lingerie-inspired fragrance collection. Velvet Amber Blackberry was designed to evoke the unique sensation of velvet - the plush texture, the rich depth of color, the indulgence. The fragrance adorns skin in the luxurious warmth of amber, lusciously ripe French blackberries and sheer Turkish rose. Undeniable glamour, in the form of concentrated scent.

Victoria's Secret Velvet Amber Blackberry is available in 50 ml Eau de Parfum (shown) for $45 or 250 ml Fragrance Mist for $22. (via victoriassecret)

Not a single Victoria’s Secret fragrance has done a single good thing to my nostrils…..but this one comes in an awfully pretty bit of packaging!

I did think the original PI quartet was much better done than most VS stuff.

I agree that the packaging is very cute. It reminds me of the Fracas rollerball I got awhile ago from Sephora. The rollerball came wrapped in a very plush black velvet swath of material with pink trim and kept secured by a pink ribbon. ~ I bet my daughter would love this VS one though -could be a stocking stuffer!

Gee, it’s Victoria’s Secret–I thought all of their fragrances were sort-of “lingerie-inspired” ;) I do wish they’d listed a few more notes, I can’t believe it’s just amber, rose and blackberries.

They aren’t big on fragrance descriptions over there. Actually, the only US chain store that really does a consistently good job in that regard is BBW.

Maybe the one’s that aren’t lingerie-inspired are inspired by just plain old underwear.

Bath & Body Works had a Blackberry Amber edt (now discontinued) that I enjoyed… I’m curious how this one will compare.

This sounds sort of like a combination of Stella and Trish McEvoy Blackberry Vanilla Musk. Which makes me want to go home and mix the two and see if it’s any good. (I think I’ve mentioned my layering disability before–I seem to make some tragic errors. Yesterday I thought it was a good idea to mix Parfum Sacre with Daphne. Seriously.)

That sounds like a totally do-able layering combination… I have the Stella in Two Amber kicking around, and now I want to try it with something else…

egad! Robin, I’ll try not to fall on you when I faint as well…..

Miss Kitty….you nothing if not “adventurous” (crazy was the first word that came to mind but it didn’t seem quite politically correct….) ;-)

It’s ok, Daisy, you were going for accuracy. “Crazy” would be accurate.

But…! I have a winner! I have successfully layered, without a scrubber attack! The Stella and the Trish McEvoy are reeeeeeeally good together! And considering I wasn’t crazy about either of them on their own, this is really good news!

The packaging and notes really remind me of Mistral Wild Blackberry (down to the bow): http://www.mistralsoap.com/page/M/PROD/MEDPWB

I happen to like the Mistral fuity-florals, so this might not be such a bad thing.

I think they did these bottles before Mistral came out with their lines of EdPs, but I could be wrong.

It sounds like a strange work of art – a fuzzy yellow berry- oops *french* berry.
I do love amber though, and black currant. If it’s rich enough, it might be good.

I have tried several of VS’s fragrances and they all seem to smell like something else out on the market.

It is not a brand I look to for “unusual”. But they did do a nice job with the Intimes collection so far.

Hi, longtime lurker here, posting my very first comment! Just wanted to add that before i became a MAJOR perfumista (always had a passion and a “good nose”) I used to wear Rapture by Victorias Secret, and boy did the guys love it! I wouldn’t touch it now with a ten foot pole but I do have fond memories of that scent. Anyone else remember it?

Hi and welcome! I never smelled Rapture, sorry, although I know it was very popular.

For some reason this spells “Mure et Musc” to me … :-)

Anyone who tried both and can compare them?

Oh squee! I loved BBW’s Blackberry Amber (still doling out the line sparingly when I want to feel sexy) and since I believe both VS and BBW are owned by the same company, I am *really* excited. BBW’s version smelled a bit like Angel to me, but I like Angel so didn’t mind.

I ordered the trial set of this line with the first four frags and thought they were quite nicely done. I don’t know if I’d pay retail for full sizes of them, but if they go on sale I’m picking them up. I can’t wait to go to VS and check this out, which says something because I’m not a huge fan of VS’s other products and lost love for their lingerie years ago.

My hubby adored Rapture and it was my signature scent when we were dating. I’d gently scent letters with it, sprayed his pillow with some when life got in the way and i couldn’t be with him, and it is what I wore on my wedding. I wanted something grand and heady in the floral department, but wanted our day to be special and to wear his favorite on that day, so I wore Rapture instead of a more classic or traditional wedding fragrance. He gave me some the day our twins were born, one day shy of our anniversary since we knew we were likely going to be parents and too exhausted to do much else on the official day, so there’s even more sentimental value I attach to Rapture. And I think the bottle’s really tacky, but again the juice inside is why I buy it.

It isn’t the most sophisticated fragrance in the world, and not necessarily in my HG category, but it is special because of the history it represents.

I think that’s right, they’re both owned by Limited Brands. Hope this one will live up to your expectations! I think the BBW one had lots of fans.

I just tried this, and to me it smells nearly identical to Stella. Classy, not particularly original. I do like it, but i wish rose fragrances wore better on me.

If it’s nearly identical to Stella, I’ll probably like it better than anything VS has done so far!
