Amouage Tribute ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 16 November 2009 53 Comments

Amouage Tribute attar

Amouage has launched Tribute, a new attar and a followup to 2008's Homage:

Combining with frankincense in graceful accord, the subtle majesty of saffron forms with it the top chord of the fragrance, and heralds the transition into an elaborate and powerful range of floral heart notes, chief among which are Jasmine and Rose Taifi.

Once it reaches full maturity, warm, richly spiced base notes such as leather, tobacco, cedarwood, patchouli and vetiver emerge to round out the fragrance, creating a gentle but powerfully intriguing finish that harks back to the traditional use of attars by ancient healers and prophets, who employed them to enhance moods, and uplift the soul.

Tribute captures the depth, complexity and luxury of a couture perfume; a feat rarely seen in the industry today.

Tribute features notes of rose, jasmine, saffron, frankincense, cedar, tobacco, leather, patchouli and vetiver.

Amouage Tribute is available in 12 ml for $350 or 30 ml for $650, and is available now at Luckyscent. (via luckyscent)

It’s out of my reach too. I will say that Homage was gorgeous…one of few scents I can think of where I felt like the high price was going for incredible materials as opposed to packaging & the illusion of luxury.

Don’t forget – we’re going to try wearing the gorgeous stuff we already own for awhile! I’m sure it’s beautiful, but that’s way more expensive than normal. Stay strong, my co-dependent perfumista twin.

oh seriously—I’m not getting within sniff distance of either one. You know my resistance level is somewhere the double digits….on the negative side of the scale….I practically get tendonitis of the wrist from flipping the ole credit card out so fast! nope, far far too dangerous to sniff.
Now someone clean my kitchen for me so I don’t have to….sigh

They sound furry don’t they? With big fluffy tails….

the Tribute = $29.17 per ml …..don’t spill!

“Holy flurking snit” is from the Simpsons. One of the Halloween episodes, a little quip from Kang and Kronos, the aliens.

This sounds fabulous……Homage sounds fabulous…..I’ll avoid both like the plague. Not the sort of thing I need to even think about….because thinking leads to sniffing which leads to lemming and with these two: leads to financial ruin. nuff said.

Right? If this was a “normal” bottle, and I could get away with splitting it with someone for $175 or so, I wouldn’t blink. But 12ml for $350?!?!

When I was a kid, my father used to try to tease us by saying that he wanted to be taken care of in his retirement, so he was going to marry both daughters off to a Saudi oil baron once we were of age. We would howl in protest, and he would laugh at us.

I REALLY wish I had taken him up on the offer now.

Ladies, ladies…lets make a PLAN! How about a letter to the Sultan of Brunei…humbly stating our woe….and begging for some sort of benevolence..on the other hand..we could give him a daughter!!
Now this is funny..i have not smelled homage or this..i am sold by u ladies! My favourite is Jubilation 25 which I don’t have !

ahhhhhh Epic (woman?) I absolutely agree!!! I was debating over the SOTD when I read your comment and it inspired me to get out my Epic woman decant –2 spritzes is plenty! And I think I’m in love with myself too!!! mmmmmm….I would be willing to split a bottle ….but I want the bottle (it goes with my other beeyoooteeful Amouage bottles)…well, I’m clearly not going to get anything done today if I just sit here sniffiing my wrist!!! I mean, Epic is so good that it’s a distraction! :-)

Isn’t it? I’ve literally been useless since I tried it yesterday. Here is what I have accomplished since smelling it: I have spent $200 on perfume. I walked my dogs once. Also, there was a hint of Sel de Vetiver on my coat this morning, and I threw it angrily into the laundry bin, praying that it did not sully, in its brief contact with my skin, the dabs of Epic on my wrist.

I am at work now, and unable to do a damn thing other than smile coyly and press my nose to my wrist.

I MIGHT be talked into the 12ml as a split… but it’s 12ml! I could care less about the bottle, truth be told.

Has anyone reviewed this? I can’t find any reviews, and as much as I love Luckyscent, I doubt they’d be honest enough to say “yeah, save your money.”

HOLY COW! step. away. from. the. attar. I can’t imagine trying to split 12mls…..the slightest spilled drop would make me cry!!! Seems to me I saw this somewhere for 275…..at the wiki??
If not there then WAIT for a coupon….Beautyencounter might still have this and if they had even 10% off it’d be worth the wait.

If you decide, maybe in a couple months that you’d like to split up some Epic woman….drop me a note….my decant will keep me for a while….but then I’ll go into DT’s without it. ;-)

Robin, I would love to read your review on homage…
I fear I will never be able to test homage in brick & mortar shops and I was wondering if it was worth the fuss to take a sniff…

But the Amouage line has not captured my heart – yet.
Lyric and Jubilation XXV came close- but something was missing…
I won a couple of Epic samples and am eagerly waiting for them.
I think their competition is still open: FBs of Epic are the prize!!

As much as I swoon for the two Amouages that I have (Epic Woman and Jubilation 25), I refuse to try this or the Homage – there are two many reformulated fragrances that I pine for, I don’t want to add hopelessly out of reach scents to the list. Or is this one of those “it’s better to have loved and lost…” situations? It’s better to have sniffed and not owned than to never have sniffed at all?

Ah…. Amouage, How do i love thee!? this sounds Undeniably like a masterpiece! wish i had the moolah RIGHT NOW to get a bottle, i don’t (That’ll require a couple MORE Months of saving in a Amouage Fund! LOL! which is already earmarked as the Tom Ford Fund!) but i will be hoping Santa has thought i have been a good boy this year and deliver me something bewitchingly wonderful from Amouage, or maybe an old vintage bottle of Chanel No. 5… Or Caron Tabac Blond… Or the REALLY BIG Bottle of TF Champaca Absolute… Or even a rare bottle of Lanvin Crescendo! A Boy Can Dream!
