Christian Dior Ambre Nuit ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 6 November 2009 28 Comments

Christian Dior Ambre Nuit

Christian Dior's Dior Homme line has launched a fourth fragrance in their cologne series, Ambre Nuit:

After the successes of three cologne waters, Bois d'argent, Cologne Blanche and Eau Noire, here is the latest of Dior house, Ambre Nuit. A unisex, mysterious and bewitching perfume. An audacious mixture of bergamot essence for the freshness, Turkish rose for the peppered and spicy note and cistus Labdanum, a very nice-smelling resin which gives to the fragrance its oriental and amber accents.

Christian Dior Ambre Nuit is available in 125 or 250 ml Eau de Cologne, and can be found now at Colette in Paris. (via colette)

    A bit off-topic:
Just wanted to let you all know that DIOR Germany threatened (and I mean they did, I read the mail, too!) a fellow blogger for posting “already” the new pics of their Spring collection she found on the blogosphere. DIOR is done with me.

I’ve been asked to remove (or at least, hold back til a certain date) things that companies did not want publicized yet. I don’t think it’s any big deal…Guerlain did the same last year over some pictures of Idylle, although oddly enough they didn’t pick on me. Just saying — that is business as usual, and doesn’t bother me. They need to do their job, and I need to do mine.

Fascinating. How early on did she post the images? Their Spring RTW show was in early October. Screaming at her even in September when things were already circulating seems a bit of an overreaction.

Then again, if I was working on some kind of major campaign and someone exposed my design work early and perhaps pre-final-revisions, I’d be extra p.o.’d.

(Also, what kind of threat was it? A cease + desist notice or a large pipe aimed at her knees?)

I have to laugh if the cease-and-desist was about this particular bottle because it doesn’t seem special enough to merit much attention – but I’m assuming that the threats were about the clothing collections.

LOL — so true! Anyway, I’ve posted something that is for sale in a store. Hardly “breaking” news or a trade secret at this point.

I’ve been curious about these but I’ve not seen them anywhere- does anyone know where these are sold? Eau Noire sounds particularly interesting.

In the US, they’re darned hard to find. At one time, the only place you could find them was in Dior Homme boutiques (and that’s where I smelled the initial trio). Now, I don’t know…I thought Neiman Marcus had them at one time, but they don’t seem to now. Hope someone else will chime in!

I thought they were d/c’d? Perhaps I’m making that up. (How rumors are started, eh?) They had them at one time at Barneys in LA, not sure if that is still true.

They’re still on the Dior Homme website, not that that means much.

In Canada they are/were sold at Holt Renfrew. But beware!!! I bought Eau Noire unsniffed and it didn’t agree with me! I end up smelling like I spent all day in an overheated kitchen cooking curry–not in a good way!
I will have to try this new one a few times before I go crazy and buy it.

Sounds delightful and the color of the juice in the pic looks drinkable.

Quite interesting to see they’re adding to this collection. You think they’d just make the original “successful” and lovely ones more widley available. Don’t know how I feel about them releasing more Dior Homme colognes without Hedi Slimane, but if Ambre Nuit is very good, then I guess I feel just fine.

It’s hard to say just how much HS had to do w/ the 1st three anyway (I always take that stuff w/ a grain of salt). And I know nothing about their current designer, including his name! Although I know I’ve heard it.

My roommate, a little Finnish gay boy, just bought this because he smelled it on one of his Euro friends and wanted to immediately have sex with all of them. He hides it in his room and it smells a-mazing. I believe he got it at the Dior Homme boutique in NYC?

Hi, well this is even more off topic – actually completely unrelated!! For some reason I can not post a comment on the Friday poll. Ever :-(.. is it because it is too late when I go to post… I am in Australia and perhaps by the time I wake up on Saturday morning and the Friday poll is up I have lost my opportunity? This week’s one looks extra fun too… hence my comment! And since I should really make a comment about this perfume :-)… I think this sounds nice. I am loving colognes at the moment as we head into summer here.

Why can you not comment on the poll? It’s still open and other people are still commenting on it.

I don’t know…. it just wont let me!!!! I can post a comment on this page but when I go to the poll page it says to post a comment I have to be logged in (and I am already logged in… ) But I will go and try it one more time just in case.

I say we all charter a plane and fly on over to Paris to sniff this one. It sounds interesting.

I am doubtful as to whether it is *that* interesting…not all that many fragrances I would fly to Paris for! Unless someone else was fronting the airfare, of course 😉

The first three original Colognes in the series are available at Jeffrey New York, but they had not heard of the newest addition when I called.

Hrm, when I first read this I thought, well, that sounds nice but maybe not inspired. Just read Luca Turin’s quick review and now? Between this and his review, darnit, it sounds like another men’s cologne I’m going to have to swipe for me. Off to find decant.
