Comme des Garçons has launched Dover Street Market, a new fragrance named for Rei Kawakubo's London store of the same name.
Dover Street Market is intended as a "modern twist on a classic woody fragrance"; the notes include bergamot, mandarin, black pepper, coriander, incense, juniper berry, cedar, labdanum, patchouli and pine.
Comme des Garçons Dover Street Market is available now in 100 ml, concentration unknown (£50) at the Dover Street Market's online store. (via cosmeticsinternational)
Update: see a review of Comme des Garçons Dover Street Market.
Heh, judging by the notes it won’t be my thing at all but I really like the box.
I want to try anything by CdG! The box is cool, but don’t love the bottle.
Looks difficult to handle, like those EL bottles. Form over function, I guess…. But, maybe it’s smaller than it looks.
There’s that, and also I just think it’s ugly. It is the store’s logo, but I don’t like it. Also don’t care much though…if it’s a great scent, I’ll want it!
It looks just like the odeurs bottles.
The notes sound great to me if you stop right before PINE!!!
For me Pine instantly brings back “Pino Silvestre” memories…
If you haven’t smelled it. Pino silvestre was one of the nightmarish perfumes of the late 70’s and early 80’s.
It is as if someone rubbed your face in freshly broken young and green pine needles. Without any subtlelty.
I hope the pine in this one is tamed.. .if so, it may help me recover!
(I say Lemming… a coworker is going to london next month and has offered to bring me something… it’s either this or the Hinoki)
Oh, lucky you! I would love to have a bottle of that Hinoki, but can’t seem to make myself pay for it.
I would love to try this or, as Robin says, anything CDG. Is there any plans for it come to the US?
Yes, I think all CdG retailers will have it next month.
Great!! Something to look forward to…
I love these guys. It sounds very CdG doesn’t it? Thanks for the day brightener. PS I take it you don’t know the perfumer. Yet. 🙂
No, I don’t…and they did virtually no advance press on this one. Maybe the “official” launch isn’t until next month.
I’m usually game for anything CdG also, but I’m more interested in that Daphne thing. The notes on this seem very meh.
I’m really hoping PINE is NOT the new Oud. Really.
I like pine ^_____^
so have you gotten that 30ml bottle of HeWood yet????
I was just trolling around discounters and ebay looking for some and almost bought a $22 bottle the other day… but I found at least two other things also and rather than buying 3 bottles I bought none. Thanks for remembering that I need some. I wore a bit from my decant a couple days ago and it’s dangerously near empty.
I’m more interested in the Daphne thing too!
Ooh, this sounds good! I want to try anything from CdG, too. 🙂
Might as well give it a shot! They usually do a good job.
I want to try this as well. With CDG, it’s rarely just a fragrance. It’s an olfactory adventure. 🙂 And yes, I’m eagerly anticipating the Daphne perfume, too. I love Zagorsk, so the pine doesn’t look too scary for me.
I like the pine in Zagorsk too, even if it isn’t my favorite of that series. I wish they’d do another series already!
Hmm, it’s funny, I LOVE Zagorsk, and I think it IS my favorite of the incense series. So go figure. I still have a problem with “pine”.
As they say on Facebook, “It’s Complicated.”
🙂
Zagorsk and Kyoto are both on my wish list. This one sounds good, too.
I have a very long CdG wishlist myself 🙂
I smelled it yesterday at the Comme store in NYC. It smells exactly like the Comme Des Garcons H&M scent from 2008.
Same dry down and everything, I was sad 🙁
I mean I like the H&M scent, just expected something different.
Oh and it’s $85 for the eau de parfum, 1.7oz 🙂
Oh here are the notes for H&M:
bergamot, mandarin, Sichuan pepper, coriander, incense, juniper, cedar, patchouli, pine and labdanum
looks the same to me 🙂
Thanks for all the info! I never got to try the H&M scent, so can’t voice much of an opinion — except wasn’t the H&M much cheaper??
H&M was $35 for an ounce and it’s eau de toilette 🙂
That’s about what I remember. Thanks!
