and isn’t it nice to see the niche perfumeurs respond to the downturn in the global economy by putting out judiciously priced new releases like by Kilian Back to Black and Kenzo UFO ? Heartwarming, I tell you!

I smell a new excuse for my excessive spending coming on – “but Honey, it’s for the economy”.

hahhahaha do you REALLY think the Big W is gonna fall for that one? I’m planning to work this “I just re-equipped your old pc to be wireless…” angle. You know, after I take some advil!

Soooo…did you go w/the wireless card, or the easy plug-in device? Enquiring minds want to know! >:D

I went with the plug in card……I’m most likely an idiot….the jury is still out on that. I went to bestbuy and told them what I wanted to do and they handed me a box ($40) and it “LOOKED” easy enough…..shoot me now…..Actually installing the card was easy. It’s getting the connection to kick in that’s giving me fits. I was online earlier and then turned the computer off ….then when I turned it back on….no connection , no networks detected.ARRGGG! I finally figured out that I need to “let Windows manage it” —fine since I’m doing such a craptastic job of managing the connection. So I’m using the Dell PC right now…who knows about tomorrow. But you techno-wonderful hubby was right—I’m already loving my Mac !!

As a group I’d say we are truly dedicated to the improvement of the economy and general betterment of society thru perfume purchases….or, um ….we just like our sniffies. 😉

Please bear in mind that the statistic is only for “prestige fragrances” (in other words, department store scents) — that’s probably not what you’re buying, Daisy!

I know the ELs count, but Natori and Chanel count towards that, don’t they? They sell them in the department store. How about stuff like Jo Malone that they have boutiques for in NM?

LOL Robin, sometimes I don’t think there is anything that I’m NOT buying…..sheesh……hey I tried that Havana Vanille…..have you compared it to Lea St. Barth??? Almost twins (on me)

How did you get your hands on the Havana Vanille? I thought that wasn’t coming out for another month.

As much ordering, enabling, and tempting as Daisy does, I wouldn’t be surprised if they send her samples directly from the factory.

Do they even make perfume in factories? That sounds so wrong somehow.

Ok, so you guys are buying prestige too….figures.

          • miss kitty v. says:

Cynthia: it’s not made in factories. It’s made in little moss-covered huts by seven hundred year old French elves, each carefully crafted by hand. At least, it better be, for what we pay.

            1 September 2009 at 9:32 pm

Dang it, I thought those elves were supposed to be 800 years old and Alsatian.

Robin, I’m not sure there’s anything that we’re not buying right now – although I haven’t managed to convince myself to pay for By Killian or any Roja Dove semi-bespokes yet.

            1 September 2009 at 11:33 pm

I’m friends with one of those elves….and they kindly sent me one…all the begging might have had something to do with it. 😉

Kitty, you are so right! Old French elves don’t work for cheap you know! Not like those elves that live in that big tree across from the moss-covered hut…..they just bake cookies night and day….

I guess I’ve done my part…it’s just that my part is so woefully small. 🙁 But it’s no smaller than usual, despite the economy, so there’s comfort in that, I suppose. 😀

I would buy even more, and I suppose others would also, if they let the department stores include fragrance in sales and allow coupons to be used for them. Why are they always exempt? That bugs me.

So true. I will say that small sizes & small rollerballs are now nearly ubiquitous — at least for that.

Yes, there’s that at least – LOVE smaller sizes. But I also love a good sale. The online discounters are so cool.

Guess they’re not counting our purchases at online discounters and on eBay…but I’m not sure it would make them feel better to know we’re not paying retail!
