Posted by Robin on 28 August 2009 50 Comments

Narciso Rodriguez For Her Eau de Parfum IntenseNarciso Rodriguez For Her Eau de Parfum IntenseNarciso Rodriguez For Her Eau de Parfum Intense

Narciso Rodriguez has launched a limited edition duo of fragrances, the For Her and For Him Musc Collection, intended as "a tribute to musk".

More captivating than ever. Narciso Rodriguez presents two exclusive limited editions: for her and for him musc collection.

A tribute to musk, for her eau de parfum intense and for him eau de parfum, are a pair of new and most distinctive fragrances contained within equally distinctive bottles.

A sense of mystery and intrigue that’s singular. Narciso Rodriguez’s musc collection. A powerful sensuality that lingers.

Narciso Rodriguez For Her Eau de Parfum Intense (shown above) features notes of musk, ylang-ylang, jasmine and orange blossom.

Narciso Rodriguez For Him Eau de Parfum includes note of musk, iris and pink berries.

Narciso Rodriguez For Her Eau de Parfum Intense and For Him Eau de Parfum are available in 50 ml; For Her is also available in 100 ml. (second quote via johnlewis, first quote via moodiereport, additional information via abc-luxe)

Blimey, these sound lush! I wasn’t too impressed with the NR line until now, but i’ll make a trip to a local dept store to sample these!

Oh, but I don’t know if I’ve got it right either…just used what John Lewis used. And sorry I was too lazy to go get a link. Here, now you’ve shamed me into it:

So their not the same as the original musc? Musk, iris, and pink berries for men? Interesting. I do rather love my bottle of the original mens and I really love the original womens. Still havent gotten it yet though.

No, not the same…and the original men’s is an EdT, right? So presumably this is more intense, even though they didn’t use that name with the men’s.

It makes my throat close up as soon as I smell it, and since all of his scents seem related, I just avoid them!

I couldn’t smell the first musc for men. I remember it being an oil not an EDT.

Pretty sure the original men’s & women’s come in both forms, EdT & oil.

I think what I meant was NR for her and him were EDT and the MUSC for her and him was an oil. 🙂

And the Musc for Him oil smells completely different to For Him edt. One needs a flow chart to keep this stuff straight.

I’m not normally anosmic to musk, but NR is the only fragrance I can’t smell! I’ve tried and tried and tried, but it’s like a great mystery to me – it smells like paper and plastic wrapped up together. So odd, I know! I would love to try the Intense, though… hopefully THAT one I can smell. It sounds gorgeous!

As I said above, I not only can’t smell it, I have some sort of reaction where my throat just seems to close. So I stay away from it 🙂

I’m glad to know I’m not the only one, but that stinks about your reaction!

I read March’s review, and it sounds like the Intense is going to have the same effect on me. 🙁

I wear and enjoy the Nars EDT, Musc oil for her and Essence. I wasn’t in love with this version though. I may need to try it again. But for some reason, it was just MEH for me. I’ve got bottles to burn through anyway so it’s money saved…..

To me, Essence is different from the EDT in that it’s a “clean & soapy” musk? At least to my nose….. It almost reminds me of one of Philosophy’s scents, kind of laundry-clean, almost fizzy-aldehyde.

Tried both Essence and Eau de Parfum Intense next to each other yesterday (both Saks and Nordies said that they had the exclusive and repeated limited edition over and over). The Essence went through big transformations on my skin, which is normally a big plus in my book, but I didn’t really like any of the stages. It was sort of clean musk/dryer sheets and slightly aquatic in the top. I’m normally a fan of clean musk, but this really smelled too much like dryer sheets to me. I was quite disappointed, since I LOVE the bottle.

The NR EdP Intense was quite nice. I too can hardly smell the Edp and Edt for her, but the Intense is strong and intense as the name suggests. It felt familiar, since we’ve all smelled Lovely and the other NRs. It was nice and at first, I really wanted it. But I’d rather have something riskier or at least more original, personally.

After sampling all the variations of Musk for Her (including the velvety and extremely sexy oil), I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m not only lucky in being able to smell them all, but also that I’m going to have to acquire all the various intensities. These two look like they’ll be no exception. I haven’t sampled the Musk for Him or NR Essence, but I really, really love the original Musk for Her fragrances. And the mens with musk, iris, and pink berries? Oh purrr… 😉

The musk & iris sound good to me too, but I’m sick of pink pepper and that’s usually what they mean by pink berries. No matter since I’m not going to smell it 🙂

I loved the original men’s version, and I’ve seen that there was at least a women’s musc from NR.
This sounds like variations on a theme… flankers can get boring!

I’m totally sure it would sell like hotcakes if they had only called it “NR Musk Pink Berries for Him.”

The one NR I’ve sampled didn’t work for me, but I’d like to try these as I became a bit of a musk whore last winter. Still, I feel Musc Rav will fill that need forever…

. . . For Her and Him Musc Collection . . . because it’s not like the naming of all these fragrances wasn’t confusing enough to begin with!

    so …
    For Her EDP
    For Her EDT
    For Her Parfum (rollerball)
    Musc for Her
    For Him
    Musc Collection for Her
    Musc Collection for Him

From the note, i guess it’s more unisex then gender specifc as suggested by the name? The composition of ylang ylang, musk, jasmine and orange blossom sounds pretty heavy and a tad bit too mature? I’ll go check it out tmr!

Just wondering: have any of you had noted an image in the bottle? I didn’t notice until I saw a larger photo on mimifroufrou’s blog, but now it jumps out at me.

Please look again, and see if you see anything before I bias you. . .

In the pink silvery bottle, I see an abdomen, complete with umbilicus. . .and subtle breasts above. There’s a message in the bottle. I can hear the Rorschach comments coming! Perhaps I *am* weirdly projecting, but perhaps advertisers are more wise and wily than we consciously notice.

Dibs on that bottle image as an avatar–as soon as I can figure out how to create one 😀

    Have a great weekend.

Still not sure if it is reflection or an image? Someone needs to check out the bottle in person and report back as to whether it’s a trick of the light , and image, or if we all just have a collective belly button fetish.

    Lucy-belle, Robin and Daisy–
Thanks for humoring my strange and vaguely embarrassing observation.

Of course Robin found a more elegant way of phrasing it; torso is much more polite. I suspect the image/reflection we see in the ad is all photoshop mastery. I’m happy to pop out to Nordstrom’s or Saks and investigate. . .whilst checking out the fragrance, as it sounds great. Is it available in stores now? I thought I’d read it was a Sak’s exclusive, but now I can’t find that source.

Now where are the ads for the men’s bottle?

After reading some of the info above, I had to create an account and post my review. Yesterday I was at Nordstrom and wanted a new fragrance. I’ve been stuck in a original Burberry rut for a long, long time. The poor sales girl knew her stuff but we tried almost everything they had. I didn’t like any of them – some smelled like soap, others too intense or spicy for me. Another gal pointed out the new Narcisco Rodriguez Musc collection perfume and finally I found one I loved. We sprayed it on my hand and I decided to wait to purchase. We went out to dinner then after we finished, I had to run back to the mall and get the perfume. I love it. It is a bit floral but with the musky scent – I love it. It is subtle and not overwhelming. I’m not a coniseur but I know what I like and I highly recommend it if you are drawn to a floral/vanilla/musky scent – love it!

Tried the womens at Nords 2day & I have to say, its not so intense. I was expecting it to be a loud strong scent like the orig but its really not. Robin I think ure nose might be able to stand this one w/out any problems what so ever. Its nice and I liked it. Cant decide btween the 2 yet. Still waiting on the mens!
