I think the nicest thing I could say right now is: I’m not totally appalled by this.

LOL…my thinking was this is what Coty should have done. I think this would have generated more interest among fans than the Forbidden Fruit scent.

As a marketing gimmick, it certainly makes more sense. And alright, I’ll say it: I think the bottles are lovely. In a tacky sort of way, of course. And who knows? Maybe at least one of them will smell good?

Something about them reminds me of those silly Guerlain gourmands from last year. Can’t remember the names.

Hmm… since the apple is such a strong symbol of this show, it might have been nicer to use an apple themed bottle.

I think we should come up with fragrances that the character should/might wear…

Was it Angela who reviewed B de Boucheron and felt it fit Bree?

    My picks:

Bree – Boucheron … only because of the review here. 🙂

Gabrielle – Coco Madmoiselle or Flower Bomb.

    Susan – D&G Light Blue

Lynette – Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Nil

Now you’ve forced me to admit I’ve never seen the show.

Rats, I thought I was going to be able to one-up you there. Good to know I’m not the only person in the industrialized world who hasn’t seen it. 😉

nope, never seen it…..let’s just huddle here together and talk about….THE HISTORY CHANNEL…..this is my sum knowledge of the show (and since I have friends who love it, I guess this shows how quickly my eyes glaze over and I tune out) one is a desperate slut, one is lonely, one is married but lonely and one is a bitch…did I leave one out? let’s just assume she’s desperate and probably lonely, and likely a bitch….oh look its a tri-fecta.

Thanks for the synopsis. Sounds like high school. I think we can all be glad we don’t watch it.

Yeah, I saw an interesting episode of “Nova” last night about fractals…

oooo…see now I can get behind that sort of show….J currently has a “fractal” calendar, thinks it’s way cool. Can’t believe I missed that. Knowing my family we were probably engrossed in something like a Turkish invasion or the Vandals or Spartans or well, you get the idea….but darn, I’d liked to have seen the fractals.

Sigh..I except the producers of the next Sex an the City movie will pounce on this idea and commission scents for Samantha, Carrie, the lawyer and the boring one..

      Samantha: Secretions Magnifique
      Carrie: Drole de Rose
      Charlotte: Private Collection or Joy
      Miranda: Guerlain Vetiver

I’ve never seen this (or Desperate Housewives, for that matter), but I know enough to find the choice for Samantha hysterical. (She’s the cougar, right? That lady that was in “Mannequin”? See how out of touch I am??)

Wasn’t it Chris on Family Guy who called Sex and the City “that show about three hookers and their mom”?

Anyway, I’ve never seen it or Desperate Housewives, and even though I know these are probably cheap as hell, the Gabrielle sounds kind of nice: the world can use another rose-patchouli oriental, and I like those fruit notes in the top (believe it or not).

The bottles really are reminiscent of the Guerlain Elixirs Charnels, aren’t they? (I only ever tried one of them, Gourmand Coquin, and I thought it was nice enough but smelled cheap: these probably couldn’t be any worse.)

Yeah, I actually see Kramer as being the one with surprisingly sophisticated taste. Like maybe a Lutens or L’Artisan.

At a quick glance, before I read the copy, I thought this was about the Guerlain Carnal Elixirs! Ooops!

I first wondered if this idea was floated for all the adults who kept stealing spritzes of their daughter’s LAMB bottles and that line’s apparent success. The bottles aren’t cute, but the Harajuku girls are what instantly sprang to mind.

LOL at Kramer wearing Flame. That works on so many levels…

I’m still waiting on House frags. The catch could be that you’d need to hurry up and buy them all before the line was systematically eliminated one bottle at a time to leave the last remaining few, none of which would have a rose note to be found anywhere in the composition. Save for the House fragrance, of course, which would smell boozy, dreamy from all the pain meds, and aloof, perhaps from a lot of iris with a generous touch of vetiver. And a tiny bit of rose just for that Gregory House touch. 😉

i feel like they’ve totally missed the mark…at least, with Bree.

Bree Van de Kamp/Hodge is NOT a fruity floral.

she needs something with underlying scents of blood, and dirtiness…plenty of seductive florals…with strong astringent cleanser on top…and maybe a hint of a pot roast cooking in the oven.

if they managed that i’d probably be inspired enough to buy it…masculinity be damned!

Yeah, none of the 4 fragrance descriptions above made me want to watch the show, so can only hope the characters are more interesting than their scents.

I have watched every episode of this brilliant series and am disappointed at the choice for Bree which is wildly inappropriate for her repressed and scheming nature. She should be in some kind of malevolent old school chypre, but I guess those are not in fashion any more.

Very entertaining. And here I thought the German/European market might be somewhat impervious to this kind of schlock… nice to know it’s not just we Americans and the Brits who fall for it. 😉 I’m so clueless about television it’s not funny, but I don’t mind. When HGTV releases a line of (home?) fragrances, I may take notice.

You’re right. Considering how popular things like Dallas and Baywatch were in Germany, there’s no reason to assume anything.
