Natori Eau de Parfum ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 10 May 2009 40 Comments

Natori perfume by NatoriLingerie brand Natori will launch Natori Eau de Parfum this coming August. It is the first fragrance for the line under new licensing arrangements with Parlux, and is described as the "modern evolution" of a now-discontinued perfume the Natori company developed and marketed in-house during the 1980s.

The new Natori Eau de Parfum is a sparkling floriental developed by perfumer Caroline Sabas. The notes feature sparkling aldehydes, rose, plum, ylang-ylang, purple peony, night-blooming jasmine, patchouli, amber and satin musk accord.

Natori Eau de Parfum will be available in 50 and 100 ml and in matching body products; it will be exclusive to Saks Fifth Avenue through October. (via wwd)

Update: "The EdT is held in a dark violet flacon that is designed to ressemble a water lily, and has a small, clear window revealing the contents." (via cosmeticnews)

Love that bottle! And I seem to remember liking the Natori fragrance from the 80s, though I can’t remember what it smelled like other than it was a floriental. Hopefully they’ll make minis.

It’s a great bottle. I never smelled any of the prior Natori scents though.

Ditto on the bottle. I almost wouldn’t care what it smelled like.

oh how people forget their own history! Josie Natori had a Fragrance (a rather soft elegant oriental floral) back in the 90’s produced by AVON! no one seems to remember i guess but i do. even have the issues of Vogue and Bazaar with the scent strips in it to prove it! Just like Alberta Ferretti’s NEW Scent is supposed to be her first… Ummmm, What about, Femina???? I hate these reinventions of the past for these designers… Although this does sound absolutely SCRUMPTIOUS! just wanted to let them know some of us know where the secrets are buried!

IT says it is the first fragrance under Parlux, and is a modern evolution of their now discontinued scent

I suspect a brand like that considers any collaboration with Avon to be branded mainly as Avon and not sold as any other fragrance typically branded with their name – for instance, Lacroix’s scents for Avon. They wouldn’t be sold as a Lacroix scent on their own (as in dept stores, just via Avon). Hence I am guessing any brand+avon collaboration probably means that Avon has the ultimate rights to it, so the brand doesn’t say that it is in its official corral of scents.

Click on the word Natori in the first sentence, all of that is discussed on the Perfume Houses page.

I don’t think it went well…it’s really hard to do fragrance in-house. Donna Karan had the same problem.

LOL (“church object”)! You’re right! Etiher that or some sort of exclusive baby toy. But the notes listed make me drool – perhaps I need that baby toy!

I love that bottle – looks like the colour of the Feminite du Bois bottle crossed with the shape of Marc de la Morandiere’s Bleu de Chine bottle (one of my favourite bottles of all time).

At first glance I thought: what a cool bottle!! Then after I looked at it for a while…I started to see a less attractive image….so now I’m not looking at it anymore.

I’ll agree with those who like the bottle, and all the notes sound nice to me except the aldehydes. I’m pretty sure aldehydes and I don’t get along too well.

Sorry to harp about the bottle, but isn’t it a fertility godess? Looks like a stylized version of the Stone-Age ones.

Thank you! The more I looked at it ; the more I saw a very large bottom….don’t even think about that hole in the middle. All I could see after about 2 minutes was a fertility figure. That did it for me..
      ….next!

This is so exciting..I have 3 original bottles from the 80’s and have never been able to find these again. The originals were fabulous.

I was given her second groupings from Avon but these were more fruity/florals and lacked all the finesse of the originals.

Can’t wait to smell this new one now!
    Thanks for sharing

I must be the only one, but I LOVED the Natori by Avon! I used to get more compliments when I wore that. Admittedly, I would always lie and say I couldn’t remember what I’d put on, rather than admit it was Avon. :)
