A report of a man waving a gun inside Goodwill, 904 S. Main St., resulted in a Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Department deputy taking the man into custody...The man was released after a brief investigation revealed the suspect took a pistol-shaped perfume bottle out of a box, according to the police report.

Wonder if it was Avon… I think my grandmother, the bottles-of-all-types collector, had an empty pistol-shaped bottle!

Or didn’t Stetson have one? This has come up here before but I can’t remember the outcome.

I’m so curious what perfume would warrant a handgun motif in a bottle….something James Bond-esque?? Eau de Wild Wild West? I think Mals may be on to something though—it sounds suspiciously like something Avon would do.

My grandmother died a few years ago, and my brother wound up with her rather extensive bottle collection. I’ll contact him and ask him to look on the pistol bottle for any identifying marks, because now I’m really curious.

He wasn’t robbing the store, he was just looking a perfume bottle.

Well, o.k.. why wouldn’t he put it down? He must have been a schizophrenic off his meds. You usually don’t test perfume by waving it around like a madman. I find it doesn’t work.

I didn’t see anything in the story that implied he was asked to put it down & didn’t…we don’t know the details.

We know he was waving it around. It takes someone who was worried to call the police, implying more than a simple wave. It takes 5 to 10 minutes for police to come, unless they are close. They took him into custody, which as a peace officer, *requires* reasonable doubt. Deductively, he had to be doing something distinctly out of the ordinary. I’m sorry you don’t find it at least mildly amusing. It sure gave me a lift.

You know what would be a cool posting? An open thread about prettiest, most stately, ugliest, weirdest, etc. perfume bottles. Just a thought, or is there already a post about that?
    cheers,
    Becca
